This is a superb new ensemble, featuring some of the finest soloists around - Tony Coe, Andy Panayi, Alec Dankworth, Bruce Adams, John Horler and Mike Smith. <br /> <br /> This new, all-star octet is on sparkling form, and will perform 12 specially commissioned charts from the pen of internationally acknowledged Leeds based Ellington expert, Tony Faulkner. Ellington and Strayhorn were two of the world's best music composers in any genre.The emphasis is on their lesser known material, but each piece is an absolute gem from the Duke Cannon. <br /> <br /> The musicians, all major names and soloists, are united in their love of and ability to interpret Ellington's music.
