Hi, it's been a while, how you doing?

Today makes it exactly 2 years to the day since CHANNEL-3 was officially launched and the first income was generated. Business. Things have been very quiet in terms of CHANNEL-3 as a brand, clothing and promotion as of late, I've been working on freelance artwork and design projects, some of which are currently posted on my website http://www.channel-3.co.uk/, some of which will be on there in due course.

The below image from Nasa's robot spacecraft named "Messenger" shows Earth and our Moon from the distance of Mercury... pretty amazing huh... that's us!!!...

Mercury is the inner most planet between the Sun, Venus and us, in our solar system of 8 planets to 1 star.

Every single day since June 16th 1995 NASA has posted an Astronomy Picture of the Day on their APOD archive here... http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/archivepix.html
A lot of Hubble telescope photos and just a lot of interesting stuff. They describe it as "Discover the cosmos! Each day a different image or photograph of our fascinating universe is featured, along with a brief explanation written by a professional astronomer." As a big astrohead this was an incredible find for me and I've been blown away ever since I did, way back when I first was working on this new CHANNEL-3 Space Station site. You can see the influence it had on me with the header up top, oh, and all the stars everywhere.

Plus! Being the astrohead that I am, my mindset's like this... you are spinning on a big ball in the middle of nothingness (no fact), what've you got to lose!? Get on it.

Crazy fact: There are more stars in the sky than there is grains of sand on the Earth! Billions and billions of billions. Our sun is a star. Earth can fit inside the sun a million times over.

It's been a little over 5 months since I launched this 2010 artwork and design space station site, and I've now decided that it's about time to give a window into what inspired and influenced this latest web presence design of mine. Each post in this series will touch on a different aspect, a different angle, a different style. Come along for the ride cause there were a lot! Should be interesting. FW: inspiration to inspire, you know. And this was a mammoth project so this is why I'm giving it it's own post series. Let's start it off with one of the MAIN things that sparked the design inspiration for me... 70's-80's record sleeves! In particular, these 2 from SKY and ELO...

[Sky3. 1981. Cover design by Peter Parker, Philip Bergman, The Hutton Company. I actually found this record in a local charity shop. When I was flicking through the rack of vinyls and stumbled across this I was astonished by how much the visuals on this sleeve matched my visions for the CHANNEL-3 space station in my head. It was a good day and definitely further aided the development of the whole project.]
