With Earth Day coming up this Sunday, we thought it would be a good idea to highlight some ways that you can go green around your Legacy Farm apartment. Remember that being green doesn’t have to mean making huge sacrifices or spending lots of money on green products. You can be more eco-friendly by making small changes to your every day life.

Although there are literally thousands of ways to be more earth conscious, one way that you can drastically reduce your carbon footprint is to reduce the amount of paper waste that you generate. Here are some tips:

Do you hate visiting your mailbox because you always find many unwanted catalogs, coupon leaflets, and other junk mail? You can stop these things from coming to your mailbox altogether by visiting donotmail.org.

You can also opt to pay your bills online to avoid excess paper waste.

Some individual companies (specifically credit card companies) will send you a paper that lets you “opt out” of their offers. Take this option! You’ll help the environment and save yourself countertop clutter at the same time.

You can also use old newspapers to clean your windows.

Cats make great pets not only because they are soft and cuddly but also because they are relatively low maintenance. Cats are perfectly fine to spend the day on their own. If you’ve been thinking about adopting a cat in the Collierville area, stop putting it off and check out some of these featured kitties. We’ve also found a pet hospital where you can take them for vaccinations and more.

Jeri is a 5-7 year old black female. Jeri is front declawed. Jeri was surrendered to us because her owners moved and could only take one cat with them to their apartment. Jeri is very nervous at the shelter and a little confused on why she is here. With lots of love from our staff and volunteers she is slowly coming around. Jeri would do better in an adult home as an only cat. With a little love and patience Jeri would make the purr-fect pal!Older cats are not usually surrendered to shelters due to behavior or medical problems. Rather, they are abandoned because of allergies, illness or death of owners, a move to a new residence that does not allow pets, or the breakup of a relationship. In such cases, there is nothing wrong with the cat. Instead, the problems lie with the owners. Terrified, confused, and heartbroken, older cats that have lost their homes may live in cages for years or even be euthanized because potential adopters bypass them in favor of kittens.You are literally saving a life!

Bring the Whole Family to the Collierville Fair On the Square May 5-6!

You can find all sorts of arts and crafts at Fair On the Square!

If you’re searching for fun, family-friendly activities in Collierville where you can mix and mingle with your friends and neighbors, you won’t want to miss out on the 37th Annual Fair On the Square happening May 5th and 6th on the Historic Collierville Town Square. Sponsored by Bank of Tennessee, Pepsi, 20th Century Club, and the Town of Collierville, this festival will be filled with all sorts of fun and games.

This year’s festival will include about 180 booths featuring artwork and handicrafts such as handcrafts, needle and woodcrafts, sculptures, baskets, pottery, ceramics and paintings, original jewelry, garden items, clothing and floral designs. There will also be live entertainment and kids activities such as face painting, a petting zoo, rock climbing and more.

According to the fair website, all profits from the Fair will be returned to the Collierville community in the form of grants in the areas of education, environment, art and community. This way you can have a fun experience and know that you’re giving back and making Collierville a better place to live!
