Proposed Initiative Enters Circulation
Prohibits Sale or Registration of Gas-Only and Diesel-Only Passenger Vehicles and Light Trucks Manufactured After 2020. Initiative Statute.
SACRAMENTO, CA – Secretary of State Alex Padilla announced that the proponent of a new initiative was cleared to begin collecting petition signatures today.

The Attorney General prepares the legal title and summary that is required to appear on initiative petitions. When the official language is complete, the Attorney General forwards it to the proponent and to the Secretary of State, and the initiative may be circulated for signatures. The Secretary of State then provides calendar deadlines to the proponent and to county elections officials. The Attorney General’s official title and summary for the measure is as follows:

PROHIBITS SALE OR REGISTRATION OF GAS-ONLY AND DIESEL-ONLY PASSENGER VEHICLES AND LIGHT TRUCKS MANUFACTURED AFTER 2020. INITIATIVE STATUTE. Prohibits the sale or registration, in the State of California, ofgasoline-only and diesel-only passenger vehicles and light trucks, if such vehicles weremanufactured after 2020. Limits the sale or registration of passenger vehicles and light trucks to:(1) vehicles manufactured before 2020; and (2) plug-in hybrid and all-electric vehiclesmanufactured after 2020. Authorizes the California Air Resources Board to grant reasonableexemptions to sale and registration prohibitions. Fiscal Impact: It is the opinion of the Legislative Analyst and Director of Finance that the measure could result in a substantial net change in state and local finances. (19-0031.)

The Secretary of State’s tracking number for this measure is 1888 and the Attorney General’s tracking number is 19-0031.

The proponent of the measure, John Hankey, must collect signatures of 623,212 registered voters (five percent of the total votes cast for Governor in the November 2018 general election) in order to qualify it for the ballot. The proponent has 180 days to circulate petitions for the measure, meaning the signatures must be submitted to county elections officials no later than July 27, 2020. Who remembers going to the Theater and seeing the first start wars in 1977. I was 8 and saw it in a small theatre in Carmel California. Life changing stuff for me. The forces of good and bad battling for control of the Galaxay far far away.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi (also known as Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi[3]) is an upcoming American epic space opera film written and directed by Rian Johnson. It is the second film in the Star Wars sequel trilogy following Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015). The film is produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It stars Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, and Andy Serkis in returning roles. New cast members include Benicio del Toro and Laura Dern in unconfirmed roles. Fisher died in December 2016, making this one of her final performances.
The film was announced after Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012. It is produced by Ram Bergman and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. John Williams, composer for the previous seven films, returns to compose the score. Scenes that required shooting at Skellig Michael in Ireland were filmed during pre-production in September 2015, with principal photography beginning at Pinewood Studios in England in February 2016 and ending in July 2016. The Last Jedi is scheduled for release on December 15, 2017. A sequel, Star Wars: Episode IX, is scheduled for 2019.

The band Genesis certainly had quite the journey into success. Although most people know the band as being led by Phil Collin’s, it was actually Peter Gabriel who had been the original singer for the popular band. The members had met in Charterhouse School and went through several different trial and errors with band members until finally settling on vocalist Peter Gabriel, keyboardist Tony Banks, guitarist Anthony Phillips, bassist and guitarist Mike Rutherford, and drummer Chris Stewart.  However, it did not take too long for the dedicated members to stick and amazingly by their early teens, the band Genesis has been signed to a record label! Throughout much of the 60’s and 70’s the band was testing the waters and doing their best to keep their head above water in the industry. By the early 70’s Phil Collins had replaced the drummer and the band began to grow in popularity. However, their was tension within the band and it ultimately resulted in Gabriel quitting and Phil taking his place.  The band was unsure how they could continue or they could find success without Gabriel in the band. However, it soon became clear that things would be much better than okay for Genesis.

In the 80’s they began to transform into a more progressive sound that really intrigued critics and audiences.  After a brief hiatus to pursue solo careers the band came back together to record their album “Invisible Touch.” The Break did them very well because when the album was released to the public it immediately became one of the bands best selling albums! Several of their biggest hits also came off of Invisible touch and ultimately helped solidify them as a major band in music history! One of the most popular songs from the album is their hit single “Land of Confusion.” The song’s music video featured puppets from the UK sketch show Spitting Image and garnered a lot of attention from MTV for its unique style. It is no question that the album Invisible Touch helped make Gensis that mcuh more of a success. However, with or without the album they created a series of albums and work that make them a true legend in the music world! Jam bands were a huge thing of the late 60’s and 70’s. In an attempt to keep in touch with their musical roots many musicians would often Jam with friends and grow musically through experimentation and improvisation. Throughout the early 60’s the future members of The Allman Brothers were trying to make their way into the music business, but found it all to be a bit too robotic. Finally in 1969 Duane Allman decided to invite anyone and everyone he knew to Jam with him and through those session The Allman Brothers were formed.  The group forged a strong brotherhood and would often spend countless hours rehearsing and experimenting with their sound.  Their fusion of Blues, Folk, Country and Rock really set them a part from many other musicians coming out at the time. When they finally broke out of the South and started gaining a larger fan base it was obvious that the chemistry within the band would light the fire of music lovers all over the world. Although the band did release albums, what really got them attention was their incredible live performances that were fully based on improvisation and playing off of one another on stage. They gained a massive reputation for being one of the finest live performances to see at the time!

Throughout the late 60’s and early seventies the band was keeping their head above water with their epic shows and undying passion for music. However, everything changed for them when they strategically worked off of the success they were having with their live shows. Instead of recording a whole new album and taking time off of the road the band members decided to make a live album! The result was their album At Fillmore East and the reaction was exactly what they wanted! For years the band had been making albums and touring with only minor success. However, once their live album hit the stores they had hit the Billboard charts and caught the attention of people like wild fire! It was on this album that previously recorded songs from their past albums took on a life of their own when played live. One great example was the song “Whipping Post” from their first self titled album. They had decided to feature the song on the live album and like magic the 5 minute studio version song was transformed into 11 minutes of pure improvised magic! Few musicians or artists have impacted the world quite like David Bowie has. His passion and love for the arts made him a force to be reckoned with. From a young age Bowie had a love for music and performing. In fact, several of his teachers from his early years had commented on his vivid and artistic imagination. As he got older his interest in expressing himself artistically only few more intense. He told his mother he was going to become a pop star and he stopped at nothing until it happened. Throughout the early 60’s Bowie worked tirelessly to make a name for himself as a musician. He interacted with artists from all different background and when he met the dancer Lindsay Kemp everything seemed to fall into place for Bowie. It was at Kemp’s dance school where David Bowie really blossomed into an avant garde artist. Not long after attending Lindsay Kemp’s art school Bowie had his first big success with his legendary single “Space Oddity” off of his 1969 self titled album.

The mix of acoustic sound with the instrumental build up offered a one of a kind sound that was simply not heard from anyone else at the time.  Not to mention it had a direct correlation with the obsession and buzz over space travel in the late 60’s. As a result, it was not long before the single climbed up the charts and Bowie’s name became a known all over the world. It is no doubt that David Bowie’s single “Space Oddity” catapulted him into the spotlight. However, his ability to endlessly recreate his image and artistic expression is what truly made him a magical force not only in music, but the artistic community as a whole. “Dazed and Confused” is a blues-rock song written and performed by Jake Holmes. The song refers to the potential break-up of a relationship, typical of blues numbers.
The song was later covered by the Yardbirds, which inspired a reworking by Led Zeppelin.[1][2] The latter’s version appeared on the group’s debut album and became a popular live piece, featuring improvisation that stretched the track’s length to up to 40 minutes in concert, and theatrics including playing the guitar with a violin bow. – Wikipedia

Throughout the 1960’s the music world was booming with experimental musicians looking to change up the scene. Progressive rock was on the rise and the members of the band YES certainly rose to the occasion earning them a spot in classic/progressive rock history along major names including: King Crimson, Rush and even Pink Floyd. However, throughout the bands evolution they had switched up the band line up and went from progressive rock styling to a more pop based sound. By the early 80’s many of the original members were out and Trevor Rabin had become the conceptual leader of the band. In fact, it was Rabin that took the band in a more pop oriented direction and the result was their 1983 album “90125”.

Many of the members were unsure of the new direction they were taking. For several years they had embraced the progressive and experimental work they were doing despite having very little success compared to their peers.  Rabin was adamant on going in a new direction and with much convincing he was soon able to get the other band members on board. It soon became obvious that Trevor was well informed on what the music industry was wanting at the time. When  their album “90215” hit the stores it immediately became the bands best selling album. Both fans new and old seemed to appreciate the new direction the band had gone in. Once the lead single (“Owner of a Lonely Heart”)  was released it seemed to solidify the album “90125”  as successful record and helped make YES  one of the most popular 80’s rock bands of the time.

The music video for “Owner of a Lonely Heart” became one of MTV’s most circulated music videos on the network and for a while it seemed that the band was riding a great wave of success. Throughout the 80’s and into the 90’s they continued making music, but none of their subsequent albums proved to be as successful as “90125.” To this day, the album and the hit single “Owner of a Lonely Heart” remain an untouched classic that many remember to this day! It is well understood that YES was one of the most influential progressive rock bands in music. Whether you are a fan of their early more experimental music, or dig their edgier pop sound, you cannot deny their place in music history! The energy and collaborative genius of Pink Floyd has been unable to be emulated by any other progressive band in music. Syd Barret was the founder and leader of the band throughout the early-mid sixties. Syd provided the lead guitar and lead vocals with the help of his fellow members Roger Waters (vocals and bass), Nick Mason (drums) and Richard Wright (keyboards and vocals). From the very beginning the band was noticed for their experimentation and progressive edge which ultimately helped them gain a large following in London’s underground music scene at the time. Not long after forming the band they released their debut album “The Piper at the Gates of Dawn.” Music critics were impressed by the unique edge that Pink Floyd offered with their music. In fact, Syd Barret’s wildly poetic lyrics and the members experimental use of their instruments offered up the fundamentals that many budding progressive rock musicians used both then and now.

Unfortunately, Barret had suffered from Schizophrenia most of his life and overtime it had become an implosive force that not only damaged relationships in his life, but also negatively impacted his ability to create with his fellow band members. Throughout the 60’s Barret’s mental health had declined considerably causing him to leave the band in April of 1968. Around the same time David Gilmour had joined and Roger Waters took conceptual lead of the band. Although Barret was no longer a part of Pink Floyd it is no question that his memory and spirit lingered within their music long after he left. In fact, many of their pieces were dedicated to the beloved member including: The Wall, Wish You Were Here and Dark Side Of The Moon. Their 1973 album Wish You Were Here was one of their albums that seemed to mostly revolve around the love and sadness the band felt over both Barret and his condition. Featured on the album was Roger Waters incredible composition “Shine on you Crazy Diamond”.

Ironically enough, Syd Barret was at the recording sessions for the song. However, none of the members had realized it was him in the studio due to his weight gain and shaven head. When they finally realized who it was they asked him what he thought of the piece and all he could say is… “it sounds a bit old.” It was obvious to them that Syd was not well and it was something that deeply saddened each one of the members. Sadly, Barret’s mental health only continued to decline and it was not long before he had alienated himself completely from everyone. The story of Syd Barret is certainly a tragic one, but when you realize the story and background behind some of the bands most popular pieces it makes them all the more powerful! “Legs” is a song performed by the band ZZ Top from their 1983 album Eliminator. The song was released as a single in 1984 and reached number eight on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States. The dance mix version of the song peaked at number thirteen on the dance charts.[3] Although all three members of ZZ Top are credited with playing on the track, only Gibbons was actually present; engineer Terry Manning was responsible for all the musical parts save the lead guitar.[4] However, David Blayney (ZZ Top stage manager for 15 years) explains in his book[5] Sharp Dressed Men that the pumping synthesizer effect in “Legs” was introduced in pre-production by Linden Hudson. During the final tracking sessions, Terry Manning (final Eliminator tracking engineer) called Linden Hudson and asked how he did the synth effects for “Legs”, although Terry could have easily pulled it off if he needed to. The single remix of “Legs” is much more synthesizer-driven than the album version. Although you can hear a synthesizer throughout the album version, it is toned down. There is also a three-note guitar riff heard throughout most of the album version of “Legs”, and it is a minute longer than the single version. – Wikipedia

Before any official announcement, reports began running during April 1965 within the automotive press that Chevrolet was preparing a competitor to the Ford Mustang, code-named Panther.[6] On June 21, 1966, around 200 automotive journalists received a telegram from General Motors stating, “…please save noon of June 28 for important SEPAW meeting. Hope you can be on hand to help scratch a cat. Details will follow…(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet public relations – SEPAW secretary.” The following day, the same journalists received another General Motors telegram stating, “Society for the Eradication of Panthers from the Automotive World will hold first and last meeting on June 28…(signed) John L. Cutter – Chevrolet public relations SEPAW secretary.” These telegrams puzzled the automotive journalists.[6]
On June 28, 1966, General Motors held a live press conference in Detroit’s Statler-Hilton Hotel. It was to be the first time in history that 14 cities were connected in real time for a press conference via telephone lines.[6] Chevrolet general manager Pete Estes started the news conference stating that all attendees of the conference were charter members of the Society for the Elimination of Panthers from the Automotive World and that this would be the first and last meeting of SEPAW. Estes then announced a new car line, project designation XP-836, with a name that Chevrolet chose in keeping with other car names beginning with the letter C such as the Corvair, Chevelle, Chevy II, and Corvette. He claimed the name, suggests the comradeship of good friends as a personal car should be to its owner and that to us, the name means just what we think the car will do… go. The Camaro name was then unveiled.[6] Automotive press asked Chevrolet product managers, what is a Camaro? and were told it was a small, vicious animal that eats Mustangs.[7]
According to the book The Complete Book of Camaro: Every Model Since 1967, the name Camaro was conceived by Chevrolet merchandising manager Bob Lund and General Motors vice president Ed Rollett, while they were reading the book Heath’s French and English Dictionary by James Boïelle and by de V. Payen-Payne printed in 1936. In the book The Complete Book of Camaro, it states that Mr. Lund and Mr. Rollett found the word camaro in the French-English dictionary was slang, to mean friend, pal, or comrade. The article further repeated Estes’s statement of what the word camaro was meant to imply, that the car’s name “suggests the comradeship of good friends, as a personal car should be to its owner”.[8] In fact, the actual French word that has that meaning is “camarade”, from which the English word “comrade” is derived,[9] and not “camaro”; “camaro” is not a recognized word in the French language.[10]
The Camaro was first shown at a press preview in Detroit, Michigan, on September 12, 1966, and then later in Los Angeles, California, on September 19, 1966. Public introduction of the new model was on September 26, 1966.[11] The Camaro officially went on sale in dealerships on September 29, 1966, for the 1967 model year.[12]

You have to agree this is super cool and we all want one badly. But only a real badass gets off his lazyboy puts down the beer and actually does something with his life.

The Real current D11T was introduced in early 2008 and is also 850 hp (630 kW). This comes as a regular bulldozer and a carrydozer like the previous model. As with the D11R, the D11T Carrydozer can push 57.9 yards (52.9 m) while the regular D11T can push 45 yards (41 m) of earth. A new D11T was on display at the Caterpillar display at Minexpo during the 22 to 24 September 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The D11T and D11T CD are both powered by the CAT C32 engine with ACERT technology.[1] Another difference between the D11R and the D11T is the controls inside the operator’s cabin. Several levers have been changed into electronic switches, and several controls have been moved for increased visibility. Another difference is that the D11T has its exhaust mufflers moved back closer to the front of the cab like the D10T. They stand taller than the ones on the D11N/D11R.

There is really no such thing as safe road isn’t? Well, this video will prove it so! What we are about to witness in this clip is a video taken from a dashboard camera. What we can see here is a driver driving safe and sound in the middle of road. Everything seems fine until 0.12 part of the video where a bouncing tire seemingly came out of nowhere smashes through the car’s windshield. Based on the short clip, the white car headin eastbound skid off to the shoulder which seemingly the reason behind the accident. It could have been a fatal one but the driver is lucky to be alive!

Whoever is in to barn finding and is into Mopar cars, then you might envy what this guy found in an old barn in Eastern Colorado! It is a classic and iconic 1968 Dodge Charger R/T which came with the standard 440 Magnum engine during that year. It had been stored with the sparkplugs out of the motor so the block was seized. The paint appeared to be original and no bodywork had been done. Of course, since the car was stored in the barn for too long, the rust is already present yet we are pretty sure that despite of poor condition, many car enthusiasts will show interest towards this classic Mopar muscle car! This video was uploaded 5 years ago and that makes us wonder how much restoration this car went through and what its current condition is!

We just came across this intriguing video on YouTube showcasing photos of unusual Russian planes. No further details were mentioned if these planes are real or not but based on the given set of pictures, these are truly enormous and probably capable of making massive carnage if ever sent into a battle. According to the given description, one of the planes shown here is the  Kalinin K-7, a real Russian Bomber designed in 1933 by WW-I aviator Konstatin Kalinin. Dodge are keeping us busy each Thursday morning and by releasing teasers of their upcoming Challenger SRT Demon.

Detailed in the eighth installment of the campaign is a Launch Assist system designed to reduce wheel hop.

This phenomenon happens when tires slip and the regain traction and launch, thus storing up and releasing energy in a driveline, which can damage components.

Not anymore, as a Launch Assist uses wheel speed sensors to watch for signs of tire-slipping/sticking, if this is detected, then a control module reduces torque to maximize traction, almost instantly, with no necessary lift from a driver. The system is said to reduce loads in the driveline by more than 15-20 percent.

Compared to a Challenger SRT Hellcat, Dodge’s Demon also has the upgraded prop shaft that increases torque capacity by 15 percent, upgraded differential housing with 30 percent increased torque capacity, tweaked 41-spline halfshafts, which deliver 20 percent more torque capacity.

We also learn that the Demon gets the new four-point harness bar for use on the track.

Being that the rear seats were removed, and the mounting points are easily accessible, without cutting or drilling anything inside the vehicle..

Rennsport Reunion is what Porsche call’s “the world’s largest gathering of Porsche racecars, renowned driver, and Porsche collector cars,” on their website. And, if you were at the September 25-27th event at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, you’d see just how true their claim is.

At the Rennsport Reunion V, over 1,000 Porsches showed up, as did legendary drivers Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, Hurley Haywood, and many more.

Of the 1,000 German sports cars that showed up, around 13-20 of them were the brand’s new hypercar: the 918 Spyder.

Although she’ll probably end up getting huge bucks or a million if ever she decides to sell it after a full restoration. Here’s a car taking a quarter mile dragstrip like a fighter jet with a world drag racing record of 3.58 seconds. The record ran at 386.26 mph (621.61 km/h) and was set by Sammy Miller in his “Vanishing Point” in July 1984 at the Santa Pod dragstrip in UK. It was incredibly too fast it almost looked like a fake. Well I doubt if this guy Sammy had been late in any of his appointments. And it was so epic that I think even his soul and organs haven’t’ keep up and was left behind. The car was actually fueled by a hydrogen peroxide fed into a rocket engine through a throttle valve. Another quarter mile record was by Kitty O’Neil which was faster with a time of 3.22 seconds but was a ran made in a desert and not in a track. He did all sorts of do it yourself mechanic work on his sad Lotus Evora Pt 22 sports car to include replacing its radiator and repairing its busted suspension and its components.
