One of my favorite NYC artists, Iké Ude, is part of an exhibition taking place at the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design (4/28-8/18).

The image above is titled Sartorial Anarchy #5 and I believe sums up the contagious hilarity you feel from all his work.

The exhibit it titled: "Artist/Rebel/Dandy: Men of Fashion.” It's a celebration of sharp dressers, and mixes drawings, garments, photographs and paintings to illustrate the many ways men have fashioned a unique style, from the elegance of Beau Brummell (1778-1840) to today’s revolutionaries.

Cara Delevigne and photographer Mario Testino leave The Mark hotel in NYC and head over to the 2013 Costume Institute Gala at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. She looks fantastic and so does Testino. The theme this year paid tribute to the punk fashion era. I think she captured it from her side swooshed hair, dark makeup, platform pumps, and Burberry studded dress.

Beauty: Lavender bath fizz

What you need:

1 cup baking soda
½ cup citric acid
1 Tbsp Jojoba oil
15 drops lavender essential oil

How to make it:

Mix 1 cup baking soda and ½ cup citric acid together
Add a tablespoon of jojoba oil to the baking soda mixture.
Add 15 drops of lavender essential oil, mix until it’s fairly smooth consistency.

This is a café in Amsterdam. At first glance I thought it was the subject's home.

The photographer, Marko Savic, submitted this image to National Geographic's My Shot:

"In a hidden street I found this cafe. It looked like a scenography for some movie. I loved the atmosphere and the pictures on the wall. The lighting was really dramatic, and the man with the cigar was in just the right place."

The Stork Club was one of the most hottest night spots in NYC from 1926 to 1965. Celebrities like Lucille Ball, the Kennedys, Charlie Chaplin, and Earnest Hemingway frequented and were always welcome by operator Sherman Billingsley. By the same token Milton Berle, Elliott Roosevelt, Humphrey Bogart, and Jackie Gleason were baneed from the club.

A fun note: This was where everyone learned of Grace Kelly's engagement to Prince Rainier of Monaco.

From 1934 onwards, it was located at 3 East 53rd Street, just east of Fifth Avenue.

The Bahnhofstrasse, Zürich's resplendent, tree-lined exclusive shopping avenue, stretches a mile (1.4 kilometers). You'll find some of Switzerland's top shopping along its length, from top clothing designers to high-end options for shoes, furs, accessories, china, and jewelry. And, of course, Swiss watches.

This thought-provoking image was taken by Edurne Aguinaga and is part of a collection titled Lie Down. I love how the picture is somewhat compartmentalized. The time on a scale, male and female sides, the reflecting mask...

Lie Down is a surrealist collection of pictures that create the feeling of being upright on a vertical surface. The objects on each image talk to the viewer and tell them about a distort reality from a subjective point of view by playing with installations under natural light and reflections. Each urban 'skyscape' represents a different scenario, from an observation of contemporary issues to a close look into artist's experiences. The pictures from the Lie Down collection are analog shots composed on the camera and consist of a highly manipulated reality rather than combination printing or digital airbrushing.

This image was captivating and emotion-inducing enough to make it to the 2013 list of shortlisted images vieing for the L'Iris d'Or/Sony World Photography Awards Professional Photographer of the Year Award.

Professional photographers compete for the coveted title of L'Iris d'Or/Sony World Photography Awards Professional Photographer of the Year 2013, plus a $25,000 (USD) cash prize. Amateur photographers contend the Open Photographer of the Year 2013 title, plus $5,000 (USD). All category winners across the awards will receive the latest digital imaging equipment from Sony.

The shortlist for the 2013 Sony World Photography Awards was announced on the 5th of February. The Open (amateur) category winners are announced on the 19th of March. The Professional category winners and L'Iris D'Or will be announced on 25 April at an awards ceremony to be held in London.

As the name suggests, La Petite Robe Noire, is loaded with your classic wardrobe staple, the oh-so-stylish little black dress, thanks to renowned designer Didier Ludot.

Seems like back in the days even fast food was created with diligence and care.

Patrons line up "like payday depositors" in a bank, waiting to drop a few nickels in a slot for favorites like baked beans and Salisbury steak, freshly made each day and kept in "post-officelike boxes." This New York City Automat, described in the March 1942 National Geographic, was part of an East Coast chain that sold 72,000 pieces of pie a day.

Inventing Abstraction, 1910-1925, on view at MoMA from December 23, 2012, to April 15, 2013, explores the advent of abstraction as both a historical idea and an emergent artistic practice.

Commemorating the centennial of the moment at which a series of artists invented abstraction, the exhibition is a sweeping survey of more than 350 artworks in a broad range of mediums–including paintings, drawings, prints, books, sculptures, films, photographs, recordings, and dance pieces–that represent a radical moment when the rules of art making were fundamentally transformed.

Half of the works in the exhibition, many of which have rarely been seen in the United States, come from major international public and private collectors. The exhibition is organized by Leah Dickerman, Curator, with Masha Chlenova, Curatorial Assistant, Department of Painting and Sculpture, The Museum of Modern Art.

A key premise of the exhibition is abstraction's role as a cross-media practice from the start. This notion is illustrated through an exploration of the productive relationships between artists, composers, dancers, and poets in establishing a new modern language for the arts. Inventing Abstraction brings together works from a wide range of artistic mediums to draw a rich portrait of the watershed moment in which traditional art was wholly reinvented.

Roughly one hundred years ago, a series of rapid shifts took place in the cultural sphere that in the end amounted to the greatest rewriting of the rules of artistic production since the Renaissance. Invented not just once, but by different artists in different locales with different philosophical foundations, abstraction was quickly embraced by a post-Cubist generation of artists as the language of the modern.

This the new Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 ad campaign which was photographed by Steven Meisel and designed by artist Daniel Buren. Marc Jacobs asked him to build graphics showing patterns similar to that of Louis Vuitton's Damier checkerboard pattern.

The ads feature pairs of models in identical outfits on a yellow and white-checked background.
