Ed and Katie’s Keystone Wedding featured on Couture Colorado

Notes from the wedding planner, L Elizabeth Events {LISTmember}: Ed and Katie were scheduled to get married at Sapphire Point in Breckenridge but a large rain storm hung over the point during their ceremony time so we decided to regroup. I knew of a few spots on the way to Montezuma so I quickly scouted a spot and found a gorgeous sand bar next to the Snake River. The sun was shinning. It was perfect! We assisted the guests down to the location and the ceremony begin under the smooth sounds of guitar and sax. We decided to do a food and wine pairing for their intimate reception with the Wolf Rock chef onsite preparing the dishes and explaining each dish as they were served. I loved the color palette of champagne and peach with a pop of orange. The pairing was complemented with a 3-piece band and the sounds of Russian and English as each guest toasted the bride and groom in their native language and then it was translated by another guest. Ed and Katie are of Russian decent and first generation in the Americas. During the ceremony, the officiant asked and recited everything in English and Ed and Katie responded in Russian. It was so beautiful to see and hear the blending of languages and cultures. In Russia, they don’t have the tradition that the bride is walked down the aisle by her father but that the groom walks her to the altar. They incorporated some traditions from Russia and some from the Americas.

Sarah and Ross got married at the Vail Chapel followed by a reception at the Donovan Pavilion. Although I had the privilege of coordinating the wedding, I was not the photographer for this particular wedding. These gorgeous shots were taken by the lovely and talented Cara Leonard (Cara Leonard Photography) who by the way also regularly photographs Trista and Ryan Sutter of The Bachelor fame. I loved the soft pinks in the floral arrangements, the boxwood aisle decor and the Bagpiper who escorted them from the ceremony and into the reception.

I wanted to create something that would blend a clean modern black and white look with a bit of theatrics. Since black and colored wedding gowns are trending right now, we put the bride in a beautiful custom made black dress with small white feathers adorning the bodice. The bridesmaids in a simple white dress with a bold striped man’s tie. Reversing the norm of the bride in white and the maids in color. I loved the feathers on the wedding invitation, the custom bridal shoes and the different colors and types of strips. These are images I shot at a professional photographers event in Evergreen. It was slated as a “trash the dress” session but it was really more of what I would call a mountain bridal portrait session. Brides in the mountains are always ready for anything and are very adventurous. These images are totally a reflection of what I would shoot in a mountain bridal shoot.
