From Jeremy & Kristin: "Kayla and Evan are two of the sweetest people you could meet. They met in the 4th grade when they lived just a block away from each other in the small town they grew up in. They kept in touch as they were growing up, but it wasn’t until college that their relationship changed and they realized they were meant to be together. They can’t help but smile when they are together and it is easy for anyone to see that they are the perfect match for each other. We are so excited to photograph their Dallas wedding this Fall. We shot their gorgeous engagement session at the amazing Hickory Street Annex. These two were so much fun to photograph and just to get to spend an evening with, and as you can see the camera loves them as well."

Their love story:
Evan and I grew up just one block apart in a small town in west Texas. Throughout our time in middle and high school we were close friends, but never took the next step to start dating. After graduation, we both went off to different colleges but continued to keep in touch. As the end of our first year in college came to a close, we continued to keep in contact and spent nearly the entire summer together. It was then that we realized that we should take the next step in our relationship and begin dating. We have been together ever since and are excited to be married in the fall.

The proposal:
Almost every Sunday we go to brunch together. One Sunday morning in February, as we were getting ready, Evan was taking longer than usual. As I was waiting on him to get ready so we could leave, he surprised me and came out of the bedroom and proposed. Of course I said yes, and we celebrated over our favorite brunch.

What he loves about her:
Kayla is beautiful both inside and out. I love that she is kind and caring with everyone she meets. She is someone that I can just as easily take to a ballgame or a concert as to a nice dinner or a day at the museum. She has been one of my best friends for as long as I can remember and I can't think of a better person to spend the rest of my life with.

What she loves about him:
Evan is a person who is always motivated to learn and do more. I love that he takes me to new places and has me try new food. I love that we can just relax at home and he makes it feel like the best day. He is always there to listen and offer advice and honestly cares about people. I was lucky enough to have him as a best friend and now I get to be lucky to have him as a husband.

From Greg Lewis: "This young couple has been married only three years and have a love for the arts and photography, and wanted a session that captured them at this stage of their life together. We decided to do a vintage spring picnic for them. With their natural vintage approach to style, we wanted to highlight this quality throughout the session. We chose a local park with many cozy nooks to settle into, to capture their fondness and affection. We brought along a woven basket full of goodies and playful finger food like strawberries and honey, along with a handmade quilt. The romance between the two of them was clear... they are the essence of newlyweds in love! It was wonderful to capture their adoration for one another. We hope this inspires your readers to look forward to the coming years of their soon to be married life!"

A New York Engagement Session by Carmen Santorelli Photography {Medium Format Film}

I have a major soft spot for anything shot in film. It takes me back to my childhood when my father documented our lives using a film camera (and that giant VHS camera). My heart got super happy when I saw this lovely New York engagement session waiting for me on Two Bright Lights. Photographed by Camern Santorelli, this beautiful session was shot exclusively on medium format film.

From Carmen: Since they’re getting married in Hawaii we decided to add a Hawaiian theme to their engagement session. Finding an exotic location in Manhattan, NY, In March (!), was not the easiest task, especially on a chilly and windy day. But Diana and Lee look as if there were 90 degrees out, and they were out on the beach…I loved photographing them! We used leis, ukuleles, and a funny looking coconut band for their session, to add some color and flair to their engagement photos.

Their love story:
Diana Zhou and Lee Tobey met in September 2006 on a blind date. Lee showed up very late to this first date (a Tobey family curse), almost ruining his chance to connect with his one true love! Luckily, Diana gave him another try and agreed to a second date at Roy's Restaurant in Center City Philadelphia. Amid the laughter, conversation, and Hawaiian appetizers, destiny took hold and they've been together ever since. Given the history, Hawaii was a natural choice for their wedding. They'll be tying the knot at the beach of the Four Seasons Lanai at sunset on September 29th, 2012. In lieu of a reception, they will also be hosting a Hawaiian-style luau at the Tobey household in New Jersey for friends and extended family on June 30th, 2012.

The proposal:
Shortly after moving from Chicago to Manhattan in September 2010, the pair went to explore the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens for their four-year anniversary, where Lee had secretly orchestrated a surprise marriage proposal. An undercover photographer was waiting for them in the Japanese gardens, as well as twelve special anniversary presents (3 for each year they'd been together). The final gift, of course, was a proposal in poem form and a ring.
