As a lecturer, I realize that I have to give good example to my students, especially concerning Climate Security issues nowadays. One simple way is to reduce the use of paper in my class, especially in Communication Technology Development class. I will give you all, whether you are a teacher or student, of how we can maintain Climate Security in our class.

At my first meeting, when I explained about the syllabus, I told them about the basic rules that they have to obey during the semester. Since it was a Communication Technology Development class, the important rules to do are: (1)To activate their e-mail address (at least one) (2) to activate GPRS connection and MMS on their cell phone (3) to activate 3G for them who have 3G support cell phone (4) follow the entire e-learning process at my class

It was last year semester, so to browse internet with cell phone is still a ‘magic’ things to do for my student. But nowadays I think every provider gives an easy way to activate GPRS, MMS, and 3G

And then these are what I do during the semester:
(1) Upload my entire presentation slides at my blog, and never gives any printed copy to my student!!! (2) Give daily assignment at my blog, and my student have to answer it by giving comment, or email it to me (3) Teach them how to create a new media called blog, and make it as an assignment (4)Teach them to browse the internet using their cell phone browser

And… this is my favorite part…ahahhahaha… then I tried to do a surprising test for their Middle and Final Test!!! I use a method that maybe we can call itu M-Learning (mobile learning)… and of course M-Test

The rules at M-Test:
(1) Put all your belongings in front of the class (2) Just bring your cell phone with you (3) Access the web test URL which your test supervisor gives you using your cell phone (4) Read and answer the entire question at the website using your cell phone (5) You can leave the class if the question is to report a picture and send the picture you take with the camera phone, by MMS to my email address and my Flickr account.

The M-Test question is like this:

You are a reporter of a news company and you have to report about the small business around the campus. Give suggestion of how to expand the business networking through New Media. Take a picture of yourself with the owner at the business location and send the picture with the suggestion with MMS to my Flickr email address. You can check your answer at my Flickr account I’ve mentioned before at the class.

With this new kind breakthrough test at my campus, of course there are many protests from my students… but I don’t care, because as a communication student, they have to know and get used with any kind of New Media. And of course my test does not need any kind of paper!!! And don’t forget that I have never used any paper to give the lecture and assignment at my class. That’s mean I have support the climate security maintenance. HOORAY… that’s mean I have take part in STOP Global Warming!!!! That’s the good advantage of being digitalized and of course being mobile!!!… Maybe you can try my M-Learning for your student.. or maybe if you are a student, please feel free to give any suggestion for me…

So, M-Green = Go M-Learning, Go Green!!!

I think everyone in this earth wants to stop global warming and maintain climate security…

But we all in a big dilemma, because all things we do seems like to cause global warming…

One example for Indonesian people is Bu Adem’s dilemma… she wants to choose the best way to serve food for her warung clients… but she confuses to choose between plastic box, paper bag, leaves, or glass plate to serve the food.

Each of the choice has their own risk for climate security…

So which one do you think is the best way to serve the food?? Or maybe you have another suggestion to help warung Bu Adem?

My campus is very silent right now, free from student!!! Finally I’m free to do everything without any disturbance from them!!! * sorry if you’re my student wkkkkk…but I miss you all already!!!

I remember last semester when I arrived on campus at 2pm, I have to canceled my lab class because PLN was playing BYAR PET game. HAHAHAHAHA… after wait for almost 1 hour and it’s still in the PET mode, so I told my student to sign the attendency report and go home… wakakakaka… honestly I was so happy because I was not in a good mood to give the lecture. OH.. thanks a lot PLN… !!! *plz don’t tell this to my dean :p

Try my BYAR PET game. actually it’s not really a game, just my imagination if I were PLN… wakkakakakak.. and maybe you want to share your experience as a victim of this BYAR PET game..
