Hi Everybody - Happy Friday!,

We are celebrating my mother-in-law's birthday this weekend. She's in town for a big fitness convention. Did I mention she teaches Pilates and is over 60!? She's a fitness guru, for sure. And looks terrific! Wow, do I have some work to do on myself (maybe not typing this blog and sipping a delicious Sauvignon Blanc *wink wink*) Ah, well, we all have to do what we all have to do.

I decided to make her a card with her favorite treat - a cupcake. She loves chocolate but the girly, sparkly My Mind's Eye papers where just too cute to pass up.

I also used the incredibly wonderful stamps by Emma at My Creative Time I think I went kinda crazy with Stickles - I even put it on the rose I made. :~D

This is from the Birthday Bash cartridge and My Creative Time sentiment stamp. I used Martha's punch around the page and embossed the pink paper using my good ol' Cuttlebug.

This rosette is from Christina at Creations with Christina. I bought it already cut on manila paper and all I had to do was to bend it around a paintbrush handle until it resembled a rose. After putting a pink pearl in the middle, I sprayed it with Glimmer Mist in Golden Terracotta and added a little Stickles to the edges.

Happy Birthday, Mom! using Birthday Bash cartridge!

Hello Everyone!,

Today I made a card for a very special lady - my mom. She's turning 80 this year and it's impossible to believe that she still goes to the gym everyday, has parties, drives a sports car and talks to her kids all the time, is turning 80. Well, I did see a lady who was 96 and running marathons, so there ya go! My mom's still got it!

We are all going to her favorite restaurant in LA called Lawry's Prime Rib where she loves to eat her wonderful beef dinner with all the trimmings: creamed spinach, potatoes and the salad they make at the table, spinning the bowl while they pour on the dressing. Not a lo-cal meal! ;~)

I used a beautiful stack of paper from DCWV called Lemon Flower Stack - so gorgeous! There are lots of sparkly pages and the colors make for perfect cards.

I can't believe all the cuts are from Birthday Bash, even the shaped card! The card was cut at 11.41 x 8.96 which is huge but this is a big birthday after all. The card is supposed to open between the smaller flowered paper and the silver polka dot paper but I chose to glue them together to give an outline or shadow to my card.

I did use a Peach Keen stamp instead of the face on the cartridge. Using my Gypsy, I "hid" the facial cut outs so I could stamp the face using the large Critter Faces stamp set. There's some Glossy Accents on the nose and my Copic markers for the cheeks, white gel pen for the eyes. This cartridge doesn't have a shadow feature (I wish all the cartridges had this feature!) so I cut the bottom layer of the cat a little bit bigger so it would show under the yellow paper. When you layer figures onto patterned paper, sometimes they get lost on the page without a little dark outline or shadow.

Here's how the card opens - I cut out 3 of the shaped card, one with the flowery patterned paper, one with the silver polka dots and one more in green to decorate the inside.

I added a caption from a stamp set from Michael's - the clear polymer was a bit too flexible, however, and didn't make as clean an impression as I would have liked. I just added a little color to dress it up! Oh, and a flower.

A few rhinestones on the cake trim - the more bling the better!

Peachy Keen faces are great with all the little animal faces in the Cricut cartridges. You just need a Gypsy and use the Hide Contour feature. I use it all the time!

Hi Everybody,

Here's a little card I made with paper I have been waiting to use! And my father in law's birthday is the perfect time to use it. It's cut from good old Just Because Cards and I triple layered the background because I wanted to use Baja Breeze paper from Stampin Up - I just love that color!

The stamped sentiment is from My Pink Stamper, Everyday Life and I stamped it in brown ink.

The face is stamped from Peachy Keen Stamps, Critter Faces Large. Don't you just love those big owly eyes!

Hi everybody!,

This must be a pink & green kind of couple of weeks! I just love it! I came up with this card for the Peachy Keen Challenge and used their Critter Faces for my ducky's cute little eyes! I also used the Just Because Cards for her plaid body with pink wings, beak & feet! ...Get it? A one-of-a-kind duck? LOL! :~)

I used the Just Because Cards cartridge for the background shapes also and I took a 5"x1.5" strip of green card stock, stuck one end through my Decorative Label punch by Stampin' Up (leaving the other end hanging out of the way of the cutting edge) and then reversed it and cut the other end out (otherwise the punch cuts a 1.5" square shape which was too short for my green card stock).

Here's where you can see the long green strip of card stock with each end cut separately with my punch. I did the same thing with the ends of my sentiment "Wishing you a ..." You need to cut the strip narrow enough so that you can tuck one end under the blade and leave the other end out of the way of the cutting edge.

To attach the bow, I used my rectangular hole punch and punched 2 holes into the paper and threaded the ribbon through the back and tied it in front.

I stamped this with a stamp from Michael's and then edged it in pink chalk, sprayed it with Golden Terracotta Glimmer Mist and then topped it with Glossy Accents (I squeezed a long strip over it and then spread it out with my finger!)

I pop-dotted this little ducky and highlighted her with my white gel pen.

Happy Birthday to Three! Just Because Cricut Cartridge

Hi Everybody!,

I made 3 birthday cards, well, two birthday and one card to uplift someone who's feeling down (that could be a birthday too!). I can't believe I made time for making 3 cards and we also went to the car race on Saturday and on Sunday we went hiking with our boys (2 miles! - for me that's B I G) and then had Dim Sum afterwards. I guess I wrecked all the good calorie burning of a hike with the not so good for you dim sum treats!

When I did a card for Emma's Creative Time for Me website I saw such a cute card I had to scraplift it! (it is from Nikki at Scrappin' Navy Wife). The colors are so bright and cheery! I used the Just Because Cards Cricute cartridge for the watermelon then made another using the cute little ladybug and then one for my dad using the truck.

This card opens at the bottom. Thank you to Nikki for the card inspiration!

I used Glossy Accents to highlight the seeds. I just put a dot on the fatter end of the seed and then dragged the tip of a paperclip I opened up to make the point.

I scored the card at the top and used the black cardstock as the opening for the card.

I got a set of inspirational sentiments at Michael's - isn't that a cute saying? I added black rhinestones to the corners and chalked it in pink ($1 from Michael's - can't beat it! ;~)

This is another take on Nikki's card and Regina Easter's idea to use Kraft paper for the background of the bug. I love the scalloped edges of the card and there's also white cardstock behind it. I used brads at the top and scored the back page to fold just where the pink scallops start.

I added white rose buttons I bought at Joann's and I used my wire cutters to cut off the little plastic hoops on the backs.

Here is the card from the side so you can see how the card opens.

There are 3 pink brads the run along the top of the card so it can open - and the score is only on the white scalloped cardstock on the back. I used little pearls for the buggy's eyes.

Here's my Dad's Happy Birthday card. I thought a truck would fit him - he's a retired orthodontist but always wanted to be a farmer and live out in the middle of nowhere! Kind of an old-fashioned guy.

I used the Modern Label punch from Stampin' Up to cut out the label and 2 tiny buttons on the ends.

Inside I used another one of the sentiments from Michael's which my dad will enjoy since he's turning 85! That's a lot of fingers!! And I had to include his favorite - a dog!

I embossed this with my Cuttlebug and then sanded it to rough it up a bit. I love the way the stars look with the Americana of the truck.

Here's a card I made for a challenge at My Creative Time with Emma (http://www.creativetimeforme.com/). She has the best challenges and really knows her way around a Gypsy (my most favorite "tool" for the Cricut!). When I looked at the Just Because cartridge, the little pickle was just begging to be made, so I did!

Here's my pickle card! I just love the little pickle face! It's a Peachy Keen Stamp from their Funshine Face Parts.

The card is 4" x 6 1/4" and I ran the pink thru my Cutlebug to give it a grassy effect.

Look at this little face - adorable!! I stamped it before I ran it thru the Cuttlebug so it was a little smoother. I also added a some Martha Stewart Fennel Flocking (Thank You, Dina!) where the darker green paper was supposed to show thru and ran the pickle thru my Cuttlebug for the "warts"! I rubbed some green chalk over the top to make the warts show up a little better! And I can't get enough of my white gel pen stitching! ;~)

I used Word to type up In a pickle? using the 2Peas Hearts Delight font in a green color - isn't it cute? The flower is from Daisy Doodles at Michael's (Thanks, again, Dina!) and I added a button and pushed the stamen up thru the back. The sentiment is cut out with Stampin Up's Modern Label punch and edged in moss green chalk.

My scrap room is getting out of control! I need to read some of the organizational websites and get to work! It is so hot outside, I don't want to be out there for very long!

Happy Fourth of July! Scrapbook Page

Hi Everyone!,

I hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July! We just got back from a houseboat trip with all my brothers and their families as well as our mom & dad. Very fun!

I did a 4th of July scrapbook page because I happened to see this great paper at the local scrapbook store and I loved it! It's by Bo Bunny, Liberty Collection. I only used the Cricut to cut swirls out with the Calligraphy and Cindy Loo cartridges.

This was a plain wooden star from Michael's I painted with acrylics and tied a bow and then added the 4th with clear stickers.

More clear stickers with a painted look to go with the paper's grunge look.

I made this with a stamp and square punch, a little red chalk and some red plaid buttons and red twine. I also ripped some blue paper by Core'dinations which has a light blue color sandwiched between the darker blue back & front.

This sentiment was stamped and cut out and then I added Glossy Accents over the top and pop-dotted it on!

A few buttons, some natural twine and bingo, the four corners of my star paper have a little bling!

Summer Mini Album! Part 3

Hi everyone!,

Well, I did my cover today and included my favorite stamps, Peachy Keen!, for the awesome Mr. Sun and his sunglasses! The stamp was for a smiley guy with regular glasses and has the rim of the glasses showing as well as the eyes. I just used my black Sharpie and colored in the lenses and added a little white gel pen to give it a glass look.

I used two of my favorite Cricut cartridges for the images on the front. The sun is from Doodlecharms with a shadow feature (I love cartridges with a shadow feature to give a little 3-d effect) and Create a Critter for the "so FUN" sentiment. I cut the sentiment out twice and I filled the inside (which you could use on its own) with another fun patterned paper. I popped it up just a bit so it would look like it's floating over the cloud-shaped background.

A little ribbon and it's ready to add photos!

Now the fun part begins!

Summer Mini Album! Part 2

Hi everyone!,

Okay, this is pretty fun! I cut each layer in a summery patterned paper, once right side up and once right side down. The first one goes on the top and the second one goes on the back of the page.

This paper is from Rusty Sun in a pack I have been looking at for a couple years! It was too cute and fits the theme perfectly!

I used my rough nail file to smooth down the edges of each page after I adhered the patterned paper. I also used a brown cats-eye chalk from Color Box along the edges of each page - that made the biggest difference in how it looks. Before I used the brown chalk, it looked unfinished and the grey cardboard stood out (and not in a good way!). Now it looks very cohesive and all the brown edges ties the book together.

I am debating cutting out each of the letters (S, U, M, m, e, R) in bright, solid colors to stand out along the edges. I'll see how it looks as I go and then decide.

The Cinch is a great tool - once you get the hang of it. If you look at the weird-shaped holes in the second and third pages, you can see I am challenged in this regard! I nudged the guide bar on the Cinch and cut out a couple of pages in the wrong spot - Oops! When the book says to pull out peg 12 for a 6 inch page, just do it. :~) Actually, using less pegs probably would have worked better since the sides of my album are curved. Next time!!

Here's my covered album pages. I am so excited! - now I have to get out there and take my kids fun places! Heeheehee.

The front cover is full of happy sun-shaped flowers. Each page is tiered 1/2" from the next page.

When I cut out this patterned paper, I just cut it out twice since the paper is two-sided. The second cut out I adhered to the back of the "S" page which you can see in the last photo.

Here's the back side of the "S" page and how it looks next to the "U".

This was so fun! I can't wait to add the inside art & photos in Part 3.

Summer Mini Album! Part 1

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to do a mini album to show all our fun adventures during the summer! I bought some medium weight chipboard and made a 6 page layered album. The first page has an "S" on the edge, the second a "U", third "M", fourth "M", fifth "E" and sixth "R".

I used George & Basic Shapes cartridge to cut 6 layers of the album. There are 6 different sizes, each page getting longer by 1/2". Each page has a letter welded to it with my Gypsy. The letters are from Cuttin' Up. If for no other reason, get the Gypsy for the welding feature - it's terrific! The other best reason is so that you don't have to get out any cartridges, you just turn on the Gypsy and create!

All the pages are 6" tall. The first page welds the "S" onto the top right hand side of the page and it is 5" wide (not including the S), the second page is 5.5", the third is 6", etc. The last page with an "R" is 7.5" wide. I put each page on a a separate layer in my Gypsy. That way I can see where to weld the letters so that they overlap just a bit.

To cut out the chipboard I recommend using light weight chip board instead of what I used. I cut each page 9 times, 3 times at a depth of 4 with pressure at medium high, 3 times at 5 and 3 times at 6 with high pressure and I still had to use my exacto knife!

Here's the way the pages turned out.

The letters are all roughly 1.5" but since I made some small and some capital letters, I had to adjust the size to make them all about the same height. On your Gypsy, you can see through all the layers to see where the letters are going to line up when the pages are stacked up.

This shows how I welded the S to the edge of the rounded square from George and Basic Shapes.

I will show you how I glued to summery patterned card stock onto the pages in the next part of the series!

Happy Father's Day!

Hi Everybody,

Today is the big day! We get to spoil our dads and let them have a day without any honeydo's - mine is having a big bacon sandwich on sourdough toast for breakfast! (He does a boot camp 5 days a week and runs it off!) And then he's watching Nascar...

Here's the card we made for him using Martha Stewart's Holiday Cakes Cricut cartridge. I cut it out at 4" twice, once with plain rust paper and once with striped paper. To layer it, I just cut off the word "father" and used pop dots to attach the rust colored Happy and Day.

I layered dark blue with a patterned paper in two strips along the top and bottom and popped up the entire Happy Father's Day wording so it stands out from the base of the card.

Hi guys,

I had a crazy past two weeks. One week our 5th grader's class went to Valley Forge, PA and Philadelphia for the whole and I went as a chaperone. Wow, probably the best experience I've ever had where kids had hands-on learning. They were so smart and answered all the tour guide's questions - amazing to see what a great education they are getting in our schools!

This week was the last week of school and as the room parent for two of my kids, we did parties, collected money from the parents for a gift for the teachers and school staff, we also went on a field trip which I signed up for last fall and then they all had parties in their classes, pool parties last night for the last day of school, thank you notes to all the teachers as well as those who planned the Valley Forge trip. OMG! Whew. It's over and today is a great day!

Here's a card I made for one teacher who went the extra mile for my youngest this year. She's an extra special teacher. She even gave the room parents tote bags that she embroidered (she has 4 sewing machines!) She has plays the kids perform in her classroom at night, a game night where they have learning games and candy prizes with her husband and mother, her mom even taught the kids to hand-embroider our mom's day gifts. Obviously a very wonderful one-of-a-kind person!

Here's the "envelope". I ran out of envelopes so used matching card stock that was just big enough when folded in half to hold the card!

Each of the 4 patterned paper panels are sewn with a zig-zag stich around the sides before I glued it to a pink rectangular piece of card stock. The base of the card is white cardstock cut at 10" x 7" which, when folded, makes a 5x7" card. The ribbon is grosgrain ribbon from Stampin' Up. Stampin Up ribbons tie nicely and the material is really nice. The flowers in the corner are from Michael's - I love the embroidery ribbon in it.

I added the stamp Thank You once with black ink and once with clear embossing ink. I've never had good luck using black embossing powder without it looking smudgy.

PTA Thank You! Using Cricut's Martha Stewart Elegant Cake Art

Hi Everyone!,

Last night was the last time our PTA Board met and we had a party at a bowling alley - a nice bowling alley with a bar and restaurant goodies to munch on. Yummy! Our outgoing president organized and paid for the whole thing - can I tell you how great our PTA is? How lucky the kids are to have had her as our president - new blacktop, new computers, great fundraising? Wow! We gave her a necklace and let her win bowling! LOL!! :~)

I made her a card to say Thanks! for all she does using the Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes cartridge for all of it - that's a first! The butterfly is cool because it can look like a stained glass window since it has the outline on one cut and the solid butterfly on the bottom layer. I was going to use a white cardstock for the solid cut and then use my copic markers but wasn't that confident! The patterned paper from K&Co. had enough glitter and design. I used dark brown paper from Bazzill and a patterned brown paper also from K&Co. for the background.

Hi Everyone!,

I decided I needed inspiration for scrapbooking and wanted to show my youngest son's teeth. He has been missing one front tooth since he was three and the other one finally fell out just after his 7th birthday. Peach Keen had a sketch challenge and that really helps me organize my thoughts - otherwise there's just too much to choose from!

Happy Anniversary!

Hi Everybody,

19 years! I cannot believe it! We have been married 19 years today. I made my very wonderful husband a card (and tickets to a concert) to celebrate. Tonight, instead of a romantic dinner, we are going to a local Mexican restaurant for a Boy Scout's Eagle project fundraiser and taking our son to baseball practice - ah, family life! Sweet!

I used the new Every Day Pop-Up Cards and Calligraphy Collection for the flourishy heart on the top. My paper is My Mind's Eye, Laundry Collection.

I gotta say the pop-up cards are hard to use. I used a website on Box.net which has photos of how to fold and glue most of the pop-ups. Unfortunately, not this one. It seemed so easy until I had to glue it down. I made a quick one from plain white cardstock and played with it until it worked! Strange that Cricut didn't have a better booklet with this cartridge.

I cut the heart out twice from the Calligraphy Collection cartridge.

A little ribbon tied all the way around the card and under part of the open heart.

My Mind's Eye packet also came with rub-on lettering.

The pop-up! I used a scrap piece of brown card stock behind the lettering so you could read it more easily.

Happy Mom's Day!

Hi everybody!

I am posting less and working on kids' stuff more lately! Every time I want to sit down and scrap a bit, there's something else more pressing to do. Such a bummer. I did manage to send out these Mother's Day cards using stamps from Emma at My Creative Time blog:

Here's what I came up with using the Cricut Cartridge, Elegant Edges. The paper is my all time favorite, My Mind's Eye and the ribbon is a sheer organza that changes from gold to pink hues when you turn the fabric. I added a little white nylon butterfly I colored with my Copic markers to match the background color and a little pink heart pin along with 4 clear rhinestones I also colored pink.

This is the first of 2 cards. I used different patterned papers and popped it up with pop dots.

Here's the heart pin tucked into the knot in the bow.

I welded the background white card stock together to make the hinge at the top. Each layer is popped out with pop dots.

Here's the first caption: "Behind every great child is a great Mom..."

Here's the second card with a different patterned paper on top, same gold/pink bow and ornaments.

The little butterfly was white but since the papers are cream & pink, I had to add a little color to coordinate.

This is the second saying: "Moms are the glue that hold a family together..."

Hi Everyone!

Long time no post! I have missed using my paper and Cricut! My husband thinks that was the best gift he ever gave me!! It feels good to get out my Gypsy, white gel pens and glue - nothing like the smell of paper in the morning!

September Ninth has a weekly Tacky Tuesdays Challenge and this week it included the use of a Cow and/or the words Moo or Udder. Too fun!! I used the Birthday Bash for the cow, Create a Critter for the Moon and the new Elegant edges for the card and background - LOVE the new cartridge!! So fun to play with! I am going to use the Book Feature to make some of the inner pages of my vacation album which is an 8"x8" chipboard album put together with my Cinch! (I know my friend Dina is laughing right now after reading that 'cause I was promising myself not to buy Anything!...but then I saw Creations with Christina.com and her series on her little album and...there ya go, and there the $$ went!)

So anyhoo, here it is:

I used dark brown Bazzill cardstock and the Gypsy to make the card by welding the book feature scalloped from the Elegant Edges cartridge. I made a copy, then flipped it and dragged it to overlap on the unscalloped end - picture a long card with scalloped edges on each side. After it is welded together you get one long card you can fold in half.

Every layer is popped-up with pop dots - I cut the little 1/4" square ones in half with scissors. You need to cut them before your take off the non-stick paper. Ask me how I know this!

This is a Prima flower I colored with my Copic Markers and added a button and twine.

Hi Everybody!,

Two friends of mine earned an Honorary Service Award in our community for all their hard work and determination - they definitely deserve the award and I wanted to make them each a card to tell them how much we appreciate their efforts!

I used Birthday Bash for the scalloped circle and 2 inner circles and the paper is one I just got from Basic Grey called Green at Heart Collection Pack. The green flowers is actually on a ribbon and the flower under the sentiment (from My Pink Stamper) is from Prima Flowers. I cut out the sentiment with Fiskars scalloped circle punch in 1.5".

I added rhinestones around the outside of the card and on the rOck!

The Birthday Bash features many cards that open up but this one I had to weld.

This is also Birthday Bash and uses a stamp from My Pink Stamper which I bent and then embossed to make it shiny.

I don't know why I had orange rhinestones but I was very happy to have a use for them! The ribbon is from PaperTrey Ink.

Inside I added some orange paper and a strip of the squiggly lined Basic Grey paper. I popped up the top layer of the square.

These go to 2 very dedicated and wonderful women. I hope you enjoy them!

Hugs to You! A Get Well Card

Hi everyone!,

In bits and sprinkles this weekend, I put together a card for my very dear friend, Shelly, who was involved in a car accident last week. I have been waiting to use this cute little stamp with a birdie on it. It has a sentiment that says ""Merci" but I just put tape over that part when I stamped it in white ink and then pulled off the tape before I stamped the paper. I also just Love the Baja Breeze color paper from Stampin' Up - I bought both the paper and the ink! My living room is also that same color with cream and dark brown - somehow the greyish aqua is a color I always feel is calming and serene (the exact opposite of my life! LOL!!)

The card measures 5x7" in dark brown card stock by Bazzill, patterned by Basic Grey, Offbeat Collection Pack and yellow from Michael's. The blue is Baja Breeze by Stampin' Up as is the striped ribbon in Marina Mist. I added a strip of crimped paper bag colored paper from Bazzill. The stamp is from Michael's.

I stamped the image in white, added clear embossing powder and heat set it. Then I used my Copic Markers to color in the birdie and flower. Here you can see the paper bag colored Bazzill paper I crimped using a roller you can buy at Michael's.

The ribbon is from Stampin' Up and is 1 1/4" wide which I thought was way to wide, but it ties in a bow beautifully - they make great grosgrain ribbon!

Here's a side view. I popped up the sentiment onto the oval circle which I cut out with George and Basic Shapes on my Cricut. The scalloped oval is from Marvy Uchida.

This is the inside of the card. I added the birdie paper for decoration and also to get a continuous length of paper 14' long to fold in half. The sentiment stamp is from My Pink Stamper!

I hope she likes it!

Best Day Ever! Layout using Peachy Keen Stamps and Cricut Cartridges

Hi Everybody!

I hope you are having a fabulous day! It is Friday, after all! Yeah! Although, my husband is going to Vegas for the weekend and my sons have one batting practice, two baseball games and one basketball game tomorrow and Sunday is Opening Day for baseball. Oh, Joy. Did I mention that opening day activities go from 10 am till 4pm...? The good news is that it is going to be sunny and warm!

Today I decided to go with a phrase my sons say when we are doing something unexpected and fun - like we did last summer when, out of the blue, we went to the beach and then to a sushi restaurant. We went to the beach in Malibu and then when we were going home, PCH was totally blocked. I mean like 2 miles an hour - tops. So, being the adventurous type and cheered on by the boys, I turned off the highway and went into the mountains toward the Valley (like, you know, the San Fernando Valley, dude?). Well, that prompted the three sandy, wet-haired little beasts in the back who had been previously whining to say: Yeah!!, Mom! - This is the Best Day Ever! (We even have a little tune that goes with it.)

We ended up in Westlake Village and ate at an upscale little sushi place at 7:30 at night - a Saturday nite. You can guess how we looked walking in, sandy, wet, 3 boys and their mom. It was like the parting of the Red Seas, no one wanted to be near us! I was shocked they let us in and gave us a table. Well, it was outside on the patio, in the corner, in the dark...The boys did very well, actually. They love sushi and were hungry enough to behave.

I also decided to use my favorite stamps, Peachy Keen and sew a little (my two favorite obsessions right now) and enter their:

Peachy Keen Happy Lashes and a sun from Going Places cart. The blue & rust colored shaped frames are from the Stamping cartridge as is the wording Best Ever. I used CricutSearch.com to search for the words, the banner and the sun - it is a great website!

This used to say "days" from the Just Because Cards cartridge - I just cut off the "s". I used the Gypsy to weld the words Best Ever with day.

Green velvet bow and a little button tied with twine.

Peachy Keen stamps' Happy Lashes with cheeks by Copic markers and white Gelly Roll pen.

This flag banner is from the Jolly Holidays cart and I used the Gypsy to weld 2 sets together and added some twine to the top and a green velvet bow.

Various ribbons - the lace trim is from Webster's Pages, Designer's trim.

I used zig-zag stitching all around the Baja Breeze paper from Stampin Up!

This layout really brings out memories from our family - I love it!

A big Elephant-sized Thank You!

Hi Everybody!,

Just a short post today for a fun challenge over at Fantanbulous Cricut (#49) where we were challenged to make a shaped card. Since I needed a Thank You card, I decided to go big, elephant big! I used the Create a Critter cartridge. I welded the elephant with the word Thanks which is on the Walk in My Garden cartridge.

The paper is from My Mind's Eye and the flower is from Michael's

A photo with a little sun in the window...

The same with the drapes pulled and the flash on...

The flower is sold by Michael's as is the ribbon. I had the wire from old projects.

Pop dotted.

I used extra fine embossing powder from Ranger to get a little more definition in the eyes.

This is a paint pen from Viva called Paper Pen - you squeeze it out like toothpaste!

Hayden is Eight! Birthday Layout

Hi Everybody!,

We just had my youngest son's birthday party last Friday - a "SpongeBob-Let's-Go-to-see-Gnomio-&-Juliette-Movie birthday!" Just 5 of his buddies and my 2 other sons each brought a friend and my husband and I both drove them all (in the pouring rain! LOL!) to the movies and back here for a little pizza and SpongeBob cake! He loved it! Friday afternoon is a great time for a birthday party since there aren't many sports practices or other planned activities like there are on the weekends.

I used Core'dinations background paper, and Basic Grey Nook and Pantry Cupcakes patterned paper. The brown and orange papers are from Bazzill.

Happy Happy Birthday is made from the Birthday Bash and comes with the flag. Martha Stewart Elegant Cakes has the scalloped rectangle which was cut at 8 inches.

SpongeBob has their own Cricut cartridge and I must admit, it is very time consuming to put together! There's a solid piece (black) and then 3 layers and Shift plus 1-2 more layers. OMG! - I only had patience enough to make 2 little Sponge's!

I had to add a little black Sakura Gelly Roll stitching!

Even the inside of the holes are cut out! I do like the overall look since it keeps the black outline just like a cartoon - very cool designing! (although I thought I goofed up the layers the first time I put it together since there was all this extra space I wasn't used to!)

I guess I am getting crazy for stitching ribbon to my layouts & cards - I certainly cannot sew anything else! ;~)

These are some old letter stickers I placed on top of the circle border found in the Give a Hoot cartridge. I welded 2 sets together to have it string across the page.

The best site I've found for looking stuff up is CricutSearch.com which you can access from my blog on the left column. I just typed in "circle border", scalloped rectangle" and "Happy Birthday" and up pops all the examples they have - it's great!

Smiley Flowers Spring Layout

Hello Everybody!,

Today I've been working on a spring-themed page for My Creative Time's Throwback Thursday's Challenge CreativeTimeForMe.com. She wanted to use the Walk in My Garden cartridge and include flowers. I love that idea! I chose to make 3 little sunflowers smiling and growing Very Tall! The sentiment is from My Pink Stamper and says "Plant Seeds of Kindness" - so sweet. I have to find a nice photo of my boys being sweet...good luck! :~0

What a great day! - even though it's going to rain cats 'n dogs later, it's so nice and sunny this morning with big puffy clouds. I took some of these photos outside, finding a sunny spot in the back yard. I need to figure out how to scan my artwork so that I don't have to chase around either the house or outside for a good spot to take pictures. The 12x12" layouts especially are hard to capture on my camera because they don't fit in the view finder frame very well.

Scalloped Circle Thank You Card!

Hello everybody!,

What do you know, my son's second grade teacher gave me a Valentine - as a thank you for being one of her Room Representatives this year. She is always giving us who help out in her class little "thank yous". What a nice lady, huh?

I decided to make her a scalloped circle thank you card with a little bow on it. I used the Birthday Bash scalloped circle and then a Doodle Charms kitty with a Peachy Keen face.

Then I saw a video on Youtube from ScrappyDew.com about how to use Inkscape to draw circular text. I downloaded the program and followed the video (I had to try it about 20 times!) Yikes... But it finally worked and I used Nestabilities to cut it out. I would have made the circle bigger but that's the biggest circle I had! You are supposed to download your cut file to SCAL (sure cuts a lot) but I don't have that one so I just played with it until it fit my circle cutter.

What I needed to do was to weld the bottom scalloped pink circle to another one and had them bind together at the top so I could open the card to write my note - ahh, next time!

I printed right from the Inkscape program to my printer onto the pink paper.

I added the whiskers and freckles - aren't the little eyelashes cute!

This is stacked WAY up with foam stickers.
