Ahh, what greater trope in drawing sexy girls is there, than the sexy girl with headphones? I think this is a time-honored tradition that I have to uphold! So here you have it. Sexy girl with headphones and sweet kicks.

This week was an experiment in working with Photoshop-only, and playing around with different textured and pencil-like brushes. The quick and dirty style is music to my ears – I like working loosely because there’s a lot more energy and movement to the piece. Feel like my anatomy skills are getting rusty, though, as most of these girls are drawn off the top of my head, rather than from a real-life model. Anyone want to sit for me? Or I promise, you don’t have to be naked. (Unless you want to be!)

Anyway, Happy Friday! I hope you’ve got plans to enjoy the deliriously lovely Spring weather, make beautiful things, and get into a bit of trouble. If anyone complains, just tell them I said it was okay.

But I am back! This week I’ve got a girl who is sort of more errrm, “safe” than usual, but infinitely awesome, because she has a bionic arm, by special request from my friend Elisa. Medium is all Photoshop this week, because I felt like going messy and a little rough with the inks. Really happy with how this turned out, the character is loosely based on an old one I used to draw, who was some sort of a post-apocalyptic pilot badass girl. Which is basically all I used to draw. Though, the bionic arm is a new touch.

I still can’t decide which method I like better: India ink and doing everything on paper, inking in Photoshop, or inking in Illustrator where I get perfectly smooth lines. Each has a specific feel and they’re all equally nice.

I don’t think I will ever settle on a style or medium, as much as I try. Food thing I am not a commercial/editorial illustrator, no? Then I’d have to stick to one style of drawing and market myself accordingly. Sounds limiting.

So instead, I just mess around and post my stuff on the internet, like I have been since I was a kid! Hooray! Did you know I taught myself HTML when I was 13 years old for the sole sake of being able to make a website to put my art online? Yep. Not much has changed. Except maybe more nudity, nowadays.

I’m interrupting our regularly scheduled silence to post about a contest that I’m participating in! I signed up last weekend to have my portrait taken on Saturday as part of The Badoo Project, which endeavored to take the portrait of 1,000 New Yorkers over the course of three days as part of a promotional event for the Badoo social network / app. Above, are the photos, which were taken by Brooke Nipar, who was really lovely. The whole experience was super fun, and I’ll write more about it a little bit later in detail when I have a moment.

Anyway! I wanted to ask y’all to take 10 seconds to visit my page and vote for me! The top 24 people will have a shot at having their photograph featured on billboards around NYC!

This week’s girl was kinda inspired by this photo of quintessential babe, Sophia Loren, and vintage travel posters and that sort of mellow 70′s color palette (I know, I know, I’m usually all neon, but it’s nice to experiment, right?). It’s fun playing around with the Photoshop paintbrushes. As much as I love the crisp and clean comic-book look, it’s nice to work in a looser style sometimes. Hooray!

It’s Friday, Friday! Gotta get — nevermind.

So! Tonight I’m off to Philly this evening, to go do the “Valentine’s Day costumed warehouse party thing” – which is a yearly tradition (for 5 years now!) of mine. I’m going with a set of costume pros this weekend, which means I don’t have to feel guilty about spending the time to get my eyelashes on just right. Oh, vanity!

Anyway, another sweet treat for you this weekend – the second in (hopefully) a continuing series of paintings featured pastel, drippy things and cute girls in various stages of undress. I mean, what could be better than that? Maybe if there were more monsters. Hmmmmmmmm.

And also, on the “stuff Lenora has been making” list, I cracked out this jacket last night, and then decided to change my costume, so I won’t be wearing it. But! It’s a hand-dyed ombre denim jacket with biker/tattoo-inspired art painted on the back, and was super-fun to do! I’m thinking of making more to sell, if I can scour some shops for more. Would you buy one?

Hooray! My main excuse for posting in this blog has arrived again, this week, with MOAR NEON.
I started a series of paintings last weekend in a bout of caffeine-fueled inspiration, and I’ve been digging working with acrylics again, something I haven’t done in over a year. It’s nice to unwire after work and work in the physical realm, ya know? To be honest, I don’t think I’ve ever done a series of works in my entire life – I have a tendency to work in many different styles and media, so it’s hard to maintain consistency or explore an idea or vision beyond a single image. I think it’s a good exercise and I’m really enjoying it.
