The coastal areas are where humans and shallow marine ecosystems coexist. The "Aichi Targets" emphasize that the sustainable management of natural environments must involve local communities in planning, cooperation, and management. This center upholds the same philosophy and aims to convey conservation knowledge and principles about the "Satoumi" of Central Taiwan through its exhibits and marine environmental education programs. The goal is to achieve a vision of harmonious coexistence between people and nature, characterized by a deep connection with, understanding of, and love for the sea.

About "Satoumi"

The term "Satoumi," mentioned in the Aichi Targets, originates from Japanese. "Sato" (里) means "home" or "village," and "Umi" (海) means "sea," so "Satoumi" translates to "Sea of the Community." A healthy "Satoumi" offers many benefits: it ensures sustainable material cycling, integrated management of marine and coastal areas, and preservation of diverse and rich ecosystems and natural environments, which can be passed on to future generations.

International Debut – Eternal Notre-Dame Immersive Exhibition in Taiwan (Kaohsiung)

In 2019, a devastating fire engulfed Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, capturing the world’s attention and prompting an immense outpouring of support. Cutting-edge digital technologies are being used to facilitate the meticulous restoration of the cathedral. At the same time, virtual reality is bringing the cathedral back to life, allowing a wide audience to experience and appreciate its profound historical and artistic significance while it is closed to the public.
‘Eternal Notre-Dame’ is a virtual reality experience that allows participants to step into Notre-Dame Cathedral and to fully immerse themselves in its timeless grandeur while it is undergoing reconstruction. This extraordinary journey unveils the cathedral's invaluable artifacts and artistic treasures, affording viewers an unparalleled insight into the sanctity, history, and enduring legacy of this revered sanctuary.
Participants create avatars and navigate freely through a virtual realm, surrounded by and interacting with fellow explorers, thanks to free-roaming technology. They can examine various details of Notre-Dame Cathedral, including the Portal of the Last Judgment, the altar, the vaults, the intricate rose windows and the majestic organ. This interactive experience offers a captivating exploration of Notre-Dame’s rich historical evolution spanning across the ages. The adventure culminates with an elevator ascent to the 69-meter-high bell tower, immersing participants in the enchanting resonance of the bells. Stepping outside the tower, they can take in the panoramic view of Paris as envisioned by the illustrious author Victor Hugo.
‘Eternal Notre-Dame’ is a collaboration between the French telecommunications operator Orange, the Diocese of Paris and the Public Establishment in charge of the conservation and restoration of the Notre-Dame Cathedral. It is produced by Excurio and supported by HTC VIVE and VIVE Arts. It premiered in Paris in January 2022, receiving widespread acclaim.
In 2023, ‘Eternal Notre-Dame’ will make its debut in Taiwan at the 4th Exhibition Hall of the National Science and Technology Museum in Kaohsiung City, from August 25 until March 2024. For further details, please visit the official ticketing website.

The original space was only used for staff meals, and the number of hours of use was extremely low. By dividing the local space and integrating the originally built learning center into the original space, the space was effectively utilized, and the functionality of the space was increased, so that the corporate image, the propagation of business policies, staff training, briefing sessions, remote meetings, and customer visits could all be easily used here.

Why is an electrical exhibition held in a park focused on earthquakes and geology? The main reason is the high-voltage power tower at the entrance. Historically, the public has viewed high-voltage power towers as extremely dangerous due to not only high-voltage electricity but also the intimidating levels of electromagnetic waves. This has caused many visitors to feel afraid and reluctant to enter the park upon seeing the high-voltage towers. But are the electromagnetic waves from these towers really that dangerous?

This exhibition focuses on electricity and electromagnetic waves, explaining household electricity and electromagnetic waves. It features 85 electromagnetic wave monitoring stations that measure and visually display the electromagnetic waves of operational ultra-high voltage power towers within the park. This allows visitors to see the intensity of electromagnetic waves for themselves. Additionally, the exhibition includes many interactive exhibits both indoors and outdoors, enabling visitors to learn about electricity, electromagnetism, and energy science through play. “Electromagnetic Vision 2.0: The Vanishing Scientist” opened to the public on January 1, 2023. This exhibition emphasizes the popular science communication of electricity and magnetism, building on the previous version with a design inspired by mysterious electromagnetic fields and atomic imagery.

**What are Electromagnetic Waves?**
Electromagnetic waves are variations in electromagnetic fields that propagate in the form of waves. The energy from these variations spreads as waves.

Electromagnetic waves are everywhere, including visible light, Wi-Fi, radio waves, microwaves, infrared, ultraviolet, and X-rays.

This area features a LEGO model simulating the transmission network in central Taiwan, showcasing transmission equipment and its applications similar to those in our daily lives.

**Power Generation Laboratory**
The invention of the generator significantly changed human life, making electricity an indispensable energy source. This area demonstrates the principles of generator operation and provides interactive experiences for families.

**Current Wars**
Depending on the design of the generator, electricity can be either direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC). The promoters of these two types of electricity were Edison and Tesla, who had many stories between them. This area uses interactive projection equipment to describe the development of electrical current and the stories of these scientists.

**Polarization of Light**
The polarization of light is an intriguing optical property. Electromagnetic waves can have various directions of oscillation. If the oscillation direction remains unchanged, it is called "linear polarization"; if it rotates and traces out a circle or ellipse over time, it is called "circular polarization" or "elliptical polarization."

When sunlight hits the surface of glass or water, the arrangement of medium molecules causes some directions of polarized light to penetrate and refract more easily, while others are more likely to be reflected. This results in polarized light with varying intensities in different directions from what was initially uniform sunlight.

In nature, blue light from the sun helps keep people awake, improves focus, and boosts mood. Reduced blue light at night helps the body produce melatonin and induce sleepiness.

With the advent of electronic products, blue light from screens is present around the clock in our lives. Using electronic devices before bedtime, which exposes us to excessive blue light, can reduce melatonin secretion, affecting sleep and the health of our visual system.

Global sustainable energy leader, Ørsted, responded to the "2023 Changhua Flower Festival" event organized by the Changhua County Government during the Chinese New Year period. With the theme of "Ørsted, sustainable Changhua," they used local nurseries to plant Changhua's county flower - chrysanthemums and ornamental plants - and designed colorful plant decorations to create a unique garden landscape that combines land and ocean imagery at Xizhou Park in Xizhou Township. They invited the public to take a walk and appreciate the beauty of Changhua during the Lunar New Year period.

Ørsted brought the imagery of the largest and furthest offshore wind farm in Taiwan, the Dachanghua offshore wind farm, to the "Flower in Changhua" event. Three highlights included the changhua offshore wind farm check-in wall, which showcases the rich offshore marine ecology of dolphins, corals, and more. There was also a two-meter diameter globe-shaped balloon and a lush and green sustainable planting wall that displays the "Love Your Home" concept. Additionally, the adorable Rabbit Family elements injected a festive New Year atmosphere into the event, making it suitable for all ages to take pictures and leave behind wonderful memories.

ゲゲゲの鬼太郎　妖怪100物語

In 2022, a special exhibition titled "Experience the Yokai world 100 Stories of Yokai Exhibition" is being held in Taiwan, featuring 100 yokai creatures drawn by Shigeru Mizuki, who is known as the "Dr. Yokai" in Japan's yokai research community. Although these creatures may seem scary, they also have many charming aspects and are loved by people of all ages, influencing Japan's imagination of yokai. To commemorate the 100th anniversary of Mizuki's birth, the Mizuki Production Studio has selected Taiwan as the first overseas venue for the exhibition, held at the Huashan Creative Park in Taipei. Visitors can engage in interactive experiences and sensory activities to immerse themselves in this ancient yet innovative world of yokai, including the famous Kitaro.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Shigeru Mizuki, the creator of ゲゲゲの鬼太郎 and a renowned scholar of Japanese yokai. Despite their fearsome appearance, Mizuki's depictions of yokai have many lovable qualities that have captivated people of all ages and greatly influenced the Japanese imagination of these supernatural beings. To celebrate this milestone, Mizuki's studio has launched a new project called "ゲゲゲの鬼太郎妖怪100物語," which has made its overseas debut in Taipei's Huashan Exhibition Hall. The exhibition not only showcases Kitaro but also features 100 yokai, leading visitors on an immersive and multi-sensory journey into the ancient and novel world of yokai.

Upon entering the exhibition, visitors are greeted by a nostalgic display of Mizuki and his studio, but then suddenly hear a voice saying, "Once you enter here, it's hard to go back to the real world!" This marks the beginning of the journey into the world of yokai. Each exhibition area represents a habitat where yokai appear and disappear, with some suddenly interacting with visitors.

The exhibition not only recreates the scenes of yokai encounters but also provides textual explanations to further educate visitors about each yokai's story. For example, visitors can explore the "Yokai Maze," where the unique-looking Teke Teke catches the eye but is actually preparing to scare them. Around the corner, the cute and charming Yokai such as Abura-sumashi and Kasa-obake help visitors relax before entering the "Female Yokai Castle," "Flame Cave," and "Wind and Snow Cave," which each simulate the environment where yokai would appear. After passing all the tests given by the yokai, visitors can ride the cute "Yokai Car" and capture any missed yokai before posing for photos at the "Yokai Gathering" area to collect all 100 yokai in one shot.

Paper Cutting Masks as a montage to create a spatial tunnel. The masks as a space divider establishes a strange relationship about privacy and looking at each other.

Paper cut is a spatial installation that turns paper cutting into a large perforated screen. Each pattern illustrates one specific character in real life. Light and shadow of the screen reminds audience of the good side and dark side of personality. The perforation is enlarged to an architectural scale which makes individual pattern too abstract to be recognizable. Depending on the viewing angles, audience can get a different reading. Some audience may think they are inside a paper forest.

From Dragon to Beast Exhibition,Learn about the evolution from dragon extinction to beast radiation. The upcoming exhibit features precious fossils from Gansu, China, including a 30-meter Daxiatitan, and more.

If kids are tired of too much informative knowledge about dinosaurs, the gallery offers them a roaring good time with an interactive animated game of digging out dinosaur fossils.The other gallery of the exhibition,the beast gallery, displays more than one hundred mammal fossils. In this delicate gallery, visitors will explore the incredible range of mammal diversity, get close to the elegant fossils from Hezheng, and discover the structure and function in mammals.Many of the fossils on display, which are of great significance to studies of the evolution of mammalian species, as well as the geographical and climatic changes of the Tertiary Period of the Late Cenozoic epoch, are shown to the public outside Mainland China for the first time.

In between the two galleries, visitors will learn about the fall of the dinosaurs and the rise of birds and mammals through specimens and illustrations on display.Also, here visitors can go behind the scenes of the exhibition by viewing the time-lapse video documenting the installation of the exhibition.

Paper was first created over 2,000 years ago. The emergence of paper has enabled fast spread of knowledge through publication and consequently the development of human civilizations. On the other hand, paper is soft, light, commonly available, and easy to fold into different shapes and forms. Widely used in our daily life, it is a material that we cannot live without but tend to neglect. However, most of us may not be aware of how paper has long been applied in artistic expressions. With its rich textural diversity, paper has inspired many creative ideas. Through their continuous observation and technique development, artists, designers, and paper engineers have seized the immense possibilities of paper and created fascinating paper arts, tapping into brand new perspectives that one has yet to expose to.

This exhibition is a sequel to our temporary exhibition, Origami Universe : an exhibition of art and innovation through folding, back in 2016. On the foundation of “folding,” the artists in this exhibition have incorporated other origami techniques into their works, such as “cutting, gluing, pressing, turning, and pulling,” to demonstrate how 2D paper can spring into 3D works with different styles, and creative ideas. This exhibition will be a wonderful visual feast of 2D paper popping into 3D excitements for viewers to explore the possibilities of both science and art in different aspects, ranging from part of the work to the entire work, static state to dynamic movement, and forms to functions.

In recent years, Pleistocene human fossils and sites have been found in Mainland China, Southeast Asia, Taiwan, Okinawa, and Northern Philippines. The fossils remind us that the "Paleolithic Age" has intriguing unansweren question such as when and where the Paleolithic people came from.
The Significant Discovery in Taiwan - Anhe Mother and Infant. The Tapenkeng cultural layer of the Anhe site contains 48 densely arranged skeletons, and is currentle the earliest cemetery found in central Taiwan Specimens M13 and M15 contain many burial goods. Jehol Biota Special Exhibition

The Jehol Biota is an ancient East Asian biological community about 131 million to 120 million years ago. Its fossils are mainly discovered in northern Hebei Province, western Liaoning Province and middle-eastern Inner Mongolia of China, with Eosestheria, Ephemeropsis trisetali and Lycoptera as representatives. The environment during this period was warm and humid with active volcano eruptions, while most of the aquatic life lived in freshwater lakes. Toxic gases emitted by volcanoes killed huge numbers of creatures, whose remains were quickly buried by volcanic ash, thus allowing fossils to be perfectly preserved. This is how the name “Mesozoic Pompeii” came into being. In the past 30 years, a large number of rare fossils have been discovered in the Jehol Biota, which enriched the biological assemblage of this area and provided crucial clues and examples for research on the evolution of the earth’s ecosystem. Among the findings are over 60 “super star fossils” including “feathered dinosaurs”, “dinosaurs that flew into the sky” and “the great-grandmother of all placental mammals”.
