Water is a staple in any summertime activity. Beer is also a staple for those hot outdoor adventures. Southern Tier Pumking is an annual favorite among the fall beer lovers, who anxiously await its arrival. This year, the Imperial pumpkin ale comes to us not in 22oz bombers, but in 12oz 4packs – a change that perhaps will make imbibers more open to sharing the goods.

Pumking is an ode to Púca, a creature of Celtic folklore, who is both feared and respected by those who believe in it. Púca is said to waylay travelers throughout the night, tossing them on its back, and providing them the ride of their lives, from which they return forever changed. Brewed in the spirit of All Hallows Eve, a time of the year when spirits can make contact with the physical world and when magic is most potent. It is thought that we harness this magic to brew our powerful pumpkin ale. Not so, but it is with great respect to the magic of their trade that our brewers produce this fine beer with entrancing spicy aromas. Take a whiff of this complex ale and your journey has just begun. At first sip, a mystical spell will bewitch your taste buds, yet another victim enraptured by the Pumking. 8.6% ABV

From beer-loving Virginia hails another great fall seasonal, Starr Hill Boxcarr Pumpkin Porter. It’s a nice detour from the smoked and coconut porters in the market, and a perfect addition to Starr Hill’s fall variety pack.

Boxcarr is a traditional English-style Brown Porter with pumpkin added to the mash. Light spicing allows the subtle flavors of pumpkin and roasty porter to shine through. 4.7% ABV

Blood Orange Blind Pirate

A new take on a good beer, or a new beer? How about both!

Monday Night Brewing decided to play with its popular Blind Pirate double IPA recipe this summer. The brewers added blood oranges, then tweaked the malt and hop bill until it complemented the blood orange taste. It may not be the original Blind Pirate recipe anymore, but drinkers will find that the new combination of ingredients has provided us with a tasty treat for the fall.

Pirates love citrus fruits almost as much as they love blood. If the phrase “you are what you eat” is true, then pirates are blood oranges. If the phrase “you are what you drink” is true, you’re about to be an incredibly delicious, juicy hop bomb of an IPA. We add bits of real blood orange to every beer, so you know it’s good. 6.5% ABV

Devil's Tramping Ground

Aviator Brewing joins us this week from Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina (outside of Raleigh). Devil’s Tramping Ground, a delicious and deceiving Tripel, is one of the brewery’s flagship brews. We’re pleased to share this unique beer with our Northeast Georgia market this week, along with Hog Wild IPA and the seasonal Pumpkinbeast. Cheers!

This Tripel ale will grow hair in places you don’t want. Our Tripel is a golden colored ale that has a fruity spicy flavor that finishes a bit sweet. The Devil’s Tripel is light tasting from the addition of candi sugar. We add just the right amount of hops to balance out the sweetness. 9.2% ABV

Get a Restraining Order

Restraining Order is Jailhouse Brewing’s latest seasonal beer. It is a dark, ruby brown with light roasty flavors of coffee and chocolate, and a dark fruity sweetness.

Restraining Order Porter was inspired by the idea of using figs in a beer. Porter seems like a logical style, so we set out to make a rich chocolaty porter with dark fruity fig overtones. After a couple of attempts, with some tweaks here and there, we feel like we’ve achieved the perfect balance of chocolate, roasted caramel, and dark fruit flavors. 6.5% ABV

Hasen-what? Must Be German.

Red Hare Brewing‘s latest is an Oktoberfest style dubbed Hasenpfeffer, brewed in the spirit of Reinheitsgebot: a centuries-old German beer law that limits a beer’s ingredients to the primary ingredients. Hasenpfeffer is also the name of a German rabbit stew. Prost!

Brewed according to tradition with classic ingredients from Germany, the motherland of bier. German malts, hops, and special yeast from a famous Munich characterize the brew with toasty, caramelized malt notes and a nutty flavor. At 5.5% ABV this Oktoberfest is the perfect way to transition from light summer beers to hearty winter ales.
