When I started this blog, I have to admit that I didn’t do my due diligence when it came to a name. I was so excited to get going and I loved the sound of Le Petite Pear. Soon after, I realized that there wasn’t gender agreement in the name (seeing as I am clearly a girl), and I’ve struggled with that issue ever since. Recently, I decided that I wanted to spice the blog up and make it prettier. With the guidance of the sweet and talented {av} and the advice of Julia, who recently changed the name of her blog, I decided to take the leap.

Last week, Ann Taylor had a little soiree at their Fifth Avenue store to celebrate their Spring Collection. They had champagne and a DJ, and of course plenty of new arrivals in bright colors and patterns. I noticed a lot of florals, dots, and stripes, along with pretty much every color in the rainbow. The store itself is gorgeous, with a winding staircase down to the Petites department and a sparkling chandelier.

I loved the way they displayed the flats in a semi-circle, and was also impressed by this simple display on the bottom level:

In my opinion, Ann Taylor has really stepped up their game in recent years. Their pieces are still stylish and sophisticated, but they’re bolder too. The store is like a rainbow of vibrant color, and I’m impressed that I walked out with only two purchases! Here I am posing with a mannequin, in all AT of course.

I got to try* three products from their haircare line: Hungry Hair Oil Treatment with Argan Oil and Keravis Protein, Freshen Up Dry Shampoo, and the Therapy Session Hair Mask. Now, let me be honest, my hair is kind of a problem child. It’s fine, but there’s a lot of it. I don’t like to put a lot of product in it because it can easily become weighed down and greasy. That said, I tend to have an issue with frizz, so I can’t just leave it to its own devices. Most of the time, I scrunch and wear it curly, but I also like to blow it dry and wear it straight.

Despite my complicated relationship with my hair, I do like trying new products. Of these three, the hair mask was by far my favorite. I felt like it really nourished my hair without making it too heavy, and it has a fantastic scent that stays in your hair even after you rinse it out. A little bit of the hair oil went a long way, and I love that it can also serve as a heat protectant. I haven’t really been able to get into dry shampoo, but this one is a hair spray, instead of a powder, and I definitely felt like it was easier to apply and made my hair look better.  I used both the hair mask and the oil before drying my hair and taking pictures for this post. Here’s a closeup:

If you’re looking to upgrade from your drugstore hair products, I would definitely recommend checking out the Eva NYC line. I also have to admit to a serious crush on the patterns they use on their styling tools! Who wouldn’t love a leopard print straightener or curler?! What’s more, the majority of Eva’s tools use “healthy heat” and won’t fry your hair. So clutch. For haircare on the go, they also have a mini dryer and styling iron set in a pretty floral print.
