Featuring some of my absolute favorite micro trends that I've been obsessing over, Wasteland's new lookbook is a grunge dream. Eyeballs, Bart Simpson, baseball caps and one of my favorite models, the whole lookbook sums up what LA is all about right now. Tattoo chokers and platform sneakers make the perfect accessories for a post-grunge look. Definitely diggin' this shit.

Interesting separates that I've been obsessing over lately. These were all found on tumblr, and tumblr really is a great way to get DIY inspiration. I just bought the golden tooth necklace from an online Etsy store. (Etsy....another great place!) Things that are DIY are just so much more amazing. You usually can't buy them and they are truly unique and one of a kind. Two of the most important aspects when buying clothes, in my opinion. Not to mention when someone asks you where you got that item and you say you made it yourself. It's really a great feeling.

While I wouldn't normally post about something like the Met Gala that everyone else would be talking about, I found it extremely hard to resist. After all, if anything has to be more inspired by music, it would be this year's Met Gala, Punk: Chaos to Couture. Some people apparently got the memo while others didn't. I don't quite understand why you would wear a pink or spring floral gown to something that is called punk, but whatever. At the same time, not everyone really pulled it off. Anyways, above are some of my favorite. Sienna Miller's spiked out jacket, Florence Welch's floor gazing leather fringe, Tommy Hilfigher's plaid suit, January Jones' crazy eye make-up and Kelly Osbourne's arm-candy Matthew Mosshart (aka Alison Mossharts brother).

As part of the grunge movement, for some reason, food has been a hot item. Food on clothes. Usually junk food: hamburgers, ice cream, pizza and anything else these size 0 girls aren't eating. Maybe as a cheeky reminder that these girls don't go near calorie bomb foods. Needless to say, retailers are really catching on. Above is the latest lookbook from online retailer Asos, along with a tumblr picture that's been circulating. One of many that has to do with junk food. It's not just Asos though, everyone from Dolce & Gabana to Black Milk have caught on to the food phenom. Anyways, whether or not you're into it, you gotta admit, these pics make you really fuckin' hungry.

With the release of The Great Gatsby this Friday, all I have on my mind is Daisy Buchanan. Love her or hate her, the main female character in F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel has readers dreaming of what Daisy would be like at a party. Personally, I'd love to party with her. Daisy may be all over the place and unstable, but she sure can party. A flapper supposedly inspired by Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda, Daisy is a ball of fun. She's intriguing, energetic and in the best way put, "a beautiful little fool."

Though none of these pictures have any coherency to them, there's some flawless self styling. All black, layering or a perfect dress, I truly believe if you gradually buy pieces that you find completely amazing, your style will show as much. Not settling for anything that makes you think twice. My personal rule is if you have a second thought, throw it out.

Nasty Gal; Opening Ceremony; Dolls Kill; Rachel Zoe; UNIF

I think it was about last year when baseball caps started to become really popular. Its started with the designer versions, most notable was Prada's leather version. Then it started becoming more of a common street accessory beyond the kids that wear baggy pants. UNIF has a couple cool ones with funny slogans, Nasty Gal has some great cheap varieties and Opening Ceremony has really quirky and fun prints, although they're a bit higher priced. I've been meaning to buy one that I think I'd really wear. The UNIF one seriously captured my eye. And my wallet.

Dolls Kill; Opening Ceremony

A couple retailers are trying to extend the life of Spring Break. With Harmony Korine's new film Spring Breakers that got major buzz, Opening Ceremony did a collaboration inspired by the film. Filled with aliens, balaclavas and unicorns, it's everything the film is. Dolls Kill also did a few pieces inspired by the film, my favorite being the alien crop top. It's also half the price of the Opening Ceremony line. Unless you plan to buy the Spring Breakers lighter. Perfect for not doing drugs.

This week's Muse is the lovely singer Rita Ora. I'll be totally honest, I'd never actually heard a song by Rita Ora until I got my Elle issue this month with her on the cover. I have, however, seen Rita Ora all over the place for at least a year. She first landed on my radar because of her BFF Cara Delevingne. After that, she became a muse to one of my favorite designers Hedi Sliman, right when he came out with his first Saint Laurent collection. The last thing that made me solidify the idea of making her on the blogs Muses was two weeks ago when she was seen at Coachella in all UNIF. If Cara and Hedi adore her, and she adores UNIF, Ora's got what it takes to be our Muse.

Nasty Gal has a really rad new lookbook called Anti-Prom. I never went to prom (for teenage rebellious reasons), so I can only assume that it's prom season. I love the girly outfits teamed with some edgy accessory. It's a perfect way to look unique with what may be a generic outfit. With Coachella over for some, it's just around the corner for others, including me. The last outfit I will wear at Coachella was last minute because I bought it so last minute. I originally had another dress for day three, but returned that as the UNIF shredder dress became available. Last Fall, I took advantage of Topshop's swimsuit sale and bought these high waist bottoms for $20, and a black string top for $16. If it gets too hot, I can just take off the dress and run around in my swimsuit like most Coachella girls. I wanted to wear a lot of 90s accessories, so the hologram glasses and tattoo chokers seemed perfect. A dark lip, comfy chelsea boots and this Topshop backpack will complete my last look for what's supposed to be the hottest day this weekend.

A trend that has been spotted at the last two (or three?) fashion weeks was the clear clutch and bag. With Celine and Prada both having their own designs, it wasn't that big of a shock to see it at fashion week. In real life, however, the clear bag may seem a little daring. The clear bag puts an end to the saying "you're not supposed to look into a woman's purse." I saw one at Opening Ceremony a few months back and got ahold of a clear white version. It seems the latest designs are colored or neon, which makes it a little more fun. I suggest giving the TSA a break and trying the trend. All of the styles above are available on their respective websites and all are under $100. Except the Marc by Marc Jacobs bag, of course.

A couple of months ago, while aimlessly scrolling tumblr, I came across the most kick-ass necklace. I know the galaxy trend is pretty much done with, but this necklace was just so beautiful. I tracked down the original post to a tumblr that pretty much exclusively posted pictures of jewelry that was hand made and sold on an Etsy shop called Glow Worm Shop. The shop is incredibly cool, great jewelry and a great price. Everything is more or less $20 and consists of galaxy prints, eyes and planets. How fucking rad is that? Anyways, I strongly suggest checking out the shop.

UNIF has a new lookbook out for their Spring 2013 collection. The video is kind of, well, really all over the place, so you may have to watch it a few times to catch all the clothing. I wasn't too impressed with their last collection, but this one seems promising. With Coachella perfect dresses, a fantastic update on the motorcycle jacket and accessories that will have people staring, I'm already saving my money up for when all this stuff hits. I already ordered one of the dresses for Coachella, replacing my last outfit I had lined up. Yeah, UNIF kind of does that.

For day two of Coachella, I opted for something a bit darker and more rock 'n roll. The glitter tights are definitely a head turner, I've gotten a bit shy wearing them out to regular places just because EVERYONE stares! UNIF shirts are super soft and really baggy and airy, so they are perfect for keeping you cool. My black Dr. Martens I've had since I was 13, so they are perfectly soft and worn in and by far one of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I own. I'm a big fan of backpacks, and I have a few black leather ones that I plan to use. And of course, a refillable water bottle. Every year, the H&M tent gives free water, and we always make the long line. Water is ridiculously valuable at Coachella.

This week's Muse is model Chloe Norgaard. Norgaard is known for her Rainbow Brite hair that's constantly changing. She's definitely a cool model with a laid back style and an attitude to match. Constantly photographed with friends like the Cobrasnake, you can imagine Norgaard is quite a party animal, which you kind of have to love. With has looks to kill and a ridiculously perfect 90s style, Norgaard catches everyone's eye. Norgaard is the type of girl everyone wants to be friends with, for the clothes and the wild parties.

Haven't done a menswear post in a while. I love how the 90s trend isn't just a women's trend, but a lot of guys are catching on too. Well, a lot of brave guys at least. I think you'd have to be a pretty brave guy to wear something that most men won't. All I ever see guys wearing are plain t-shirts and jeans. It's nice to see some people stepping outside of the box.

A couple of years ago, I visited Austin for the first time. I really didn't know what to expect, and honestly just thought "it's Texas, I'm not white, I'm a liberal, I might have a problem." Little did I expect that Austin is pretty much a mecca for bohemian, artsy and liberal types. Pretty much the only city in Texas like that, with the city's unofficial motto being "Keep Austin Weird." They call it weird, I call it rad. Anyways, with SXSW ending this past week, the ~~weird~~ awesomeness of Austin got a little bit bigger. Above are some street style shots from the festival, although honestly, you don't have to go for a festival to see some awesome style.

So apparently Sky Ferreira is slowly taking over the world. She doesn't even have a debut album yet, but she seems to be doing just fine going off her looks. Ferreira is the latest model for Forever 21, becoming the face of the store's "festival" collection. While I wouldn't be caught dead wearing Forever 21 at Coachella, Sky looks pretty hot lounging in the sun.
