I am always looking for what’s new and coming down the pike in the area of skincare. I’m obsessed with taking care of my skin and I follow a few simple rules to care for it. I never, ever go to bed with makeup on, I thoroughly wash my face every single evening. I drink at least 35 fluid ounces of water or more. I eat kale and/or other leafy greens daily, I consume as much fruits and vegetables (for the healthy antioxidant properties) as I can. And every night of my life, I moisturize my face, neck, chest and hands. I use a good eye cream too. And sunscreen everyday!

A few products have really impressed me lately and here they are. First up in the Exuviance Daily Antioxidant Peel. Don’t worry, its not the type of peel that will leave you with flaky sheets of skin peeling off your face. it’s a simple solution that you use nightly. It contains 10% citric acid. This exfoliates and treats skin to antioxidants, leaving skin radiant, smooth and healthy.

Next up is the Pore Refining Peel from ProActiv. I was a bit nervous that this would dry out my sensitive skin but alas, it did not. This peel features a 10% glycolic solution which evens out texture and skin tone, decreases appearance of wrinkles and fine lines and helps with pore size. This is the ideal product to use a few times a week if you suffer from oversized and clogged pores. You apply this to the skin, wait ten minutes or so, then wash off. I love how my skin looks after the Pore Refining Peel.

After all this talk of pores and peeling, how about a bit of moisture? Bliss The Youth as We Know it is the perfect complement to your skincare routine. This soothing moisturizer helps retexture skin, promotes collagen, fills in fine lines, hydrates and brightens and more! This product contains ten age fighting ingredients too. On being forty-something: “Whatever angst-y times I have had came after fame, which we know was after 22. When I was 22, I was having a ball. Face: This look is so simple yet glamorous, it can worn for both day and evening. Begin with High Definition Healthy FX Foundation, applied with a sponge for a flawless finish. Set the foundation with Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder, this will add that extra glow.

A hint of coral to the cheeks with Blush Rush color, Paradise. Dust from the cheek to the ear.

Eyes: The eyes are clean and simple, try the Eye Lights Eyeshadow Palette called Smokebox. Apply the lightest shade to the inside corner of the eye and under the brow. The metallic, Soft Pewter shade is the focus so apply that across the eyelid, up to the crease of the eye. Also run this under the eye to create a softness. At the ELLE Style Awards in London, Alexa Chung showed off her pitch-perfect, ombre highlights. The color melts seamlessly from her warm brown bangs to her caramel tips. Her strands’ soft, bouncy but still slightly undone texture compliments the look.

Some say that this look has run its course, but we say who cares, and Alexa Chung has never been one to follow a trend anyway. If you’re considering ombre highlights, take your cue from her, and keep the flow organic: meaning avoid a drastic shift in color halfway down the hair shaft. The great thing about this style is its surprisingly low maintenance—root touch-ups are few and far between.

Lush-up Your lashes with MUD Cream Mascara

I was born lash-challenged. Mine are skimpy and pale, even though my hair is black. I love mascara but it often makes my lashes look and feel stiff and sticky.

I loved this MUD. Cream mascara. It comes in a little tube, which is revolutionary enough, and it goes on as silky as your favorite moisturizer. You know that feeling when you touch your lashes after a few coats of mascara and they feel like they are encased in plastic? I gave my lashes two coats and they still felt soft and natural, and best of all, the mascara didn’t end up freckled on my skin. I love this product, and I bet your eyes will, too.

The best scents I’ve tried lately…

I am always on the lookout for new perfumes and lotions and delicious fragrances that will lift my spirts and make me feel ultra feminine. I dislike strong perfumes and prefer light white florals or clean scents that smell like a fresh shower. I am also partial to sweet fragrances. Once I wore a scent that smells like cotton candy and someone followed me around a sporting goods store because as he told me, “You just smell so good!” That kind of made my day although it was a tad creepy.

I have a couple of nice fragrances that you will want to know about! The first is Scent Gloss perfume by Costume National. Its a very non-perfume fragrance meaning its light. Notes include purple orchid, Rose, fresh musk for a very “barely there” scent. Its light and clean and ideal for the woman who doesn’t like an overly perfumey perfume!

Next up, Sugar Kiss by LaLicious. I received this perfect travel kit of the Sugar Kiss scent which is so yummy I want to eat it. If you lean more towards sweet scents that linger on the skin, skip the perfume and use the body wash, scrub and scented oil or lotion. This one is a blend of citrus, rose, and vanilla and reminds me of candy. I love using it when I’m not in the mood for a perfume, this one stands alone nicely!

Last but not least is H2O Plus Blue Fragrance duo. This scent is available in a perfume and a lotion which is the best way to get your fragrance to last for the whole day. Inspired by the ocean, this scent combines “sea flower with bamboo and white woods for a crisp, cool bouquet along with essences of peony, rosewood and nectarine tones.” The body lotion is hydrating with Vitamin E and Shea Butter and the scent will last on your skin long after its applied.
