If you’ve visited Paris you’ll no doubt, have been to all the top tourist attractions, but how many of us have indulged in the ones on the list above?

It’s always fun to take a wander down Boulevard de Clichy in Pigalle, which offers up a plethora of sex shops, live sex shows, lap dances, table dances, erotic cinemas and so much more. During the day it is fairly innocuous, but come night time and the neon lights offer a different view. It is loud and brash and gaudy, but is it really sexy?

Well I guess that depends on how you define sexy. It’s certainly titillating, its definitely rude and naughty. It’s absolutely pornographic and more than likely men centered. But it is sensual, erotic, does it tease? Does it leave your cheeks flushed and imagination in overdrive?

While there is absolutely nothing wrong with popping into an erotic cinema to watch a porno, or giggling over the huge array of sex toys in the (incredible) Sexodrome store, how about something a little more artistic? A little more traditional, a little more…. Paris?

Tucked away down a back road on the south of the river, this tiny club delivers intimacy, eroticism and the art of strip tease. @thebradleybliss is the name of the account and he claims to be the TOP dating coach in America (unlikely).

The video is question is aimed at his clients, although I really, really hope he doesn’t actually have any. He starts the video with the bold claim “You are NOT supposed to get her wet.”

Yep, you read that right – this dating coach is teaching guys that you shouldn’t be getting your lady wet because…. wait for it…. “Women’s aren’t supposed to be wet.”

He then goes on to explain that while, yeah ok it is useful to have “it” create some moisture (“it” I assume is where he can’t bring himself to actually say the word “vagina”?) if there is too much then you, the man, will start slipping in and out and “it doesn’t become a very good experience.”

For the man. Fuck how the woman feels, right?! He advises “no more than 5 minutes of foreplay” for optimum pleasure for the man.

At first I thought this was a satire account but I don’t think it is (although he does also pretend to be his own twin brother so he may be a little strange) and he has plenty more questionable advice to ensure his fellow American’s NEVER GET LAID!!!! Or at least never please a woman ever. And he is by no means the only one out there.

What the actual fuck, people?

Is this where we are today, is this where (seemingly mostly American) men are? Is their hatred of women so strong, their view of women as simply servants/carers for their homes, children and men’s pleasure so deep that they are now making it so that sex is simply something that they enjoy? That women shouldn’t enjoy it, and that we shouldn’t expect to enjoy it?

What self-respecting man would simply bang away at his women with no lubrication simply because it feels better for him and fuck what she thinks? Bradley, mate, if she’s not wet she probably isn’t into either you or whatever scene you’re creating and you need to stop and make some adjustments, pretty damn quick. In fact if she isn’t wet for you then stay the hell away from her completely.

I have two daughters in their late teens/early twenties and I hear all sorts of stories about dating in the 2020s. Very few of them good. But this video just took the cake for me.

I am tired of hearing these 30-40 something year old men, with their pumped up muscles and their microphones, shoving their opinions about women, our bodies and our lives, down everyone’s throats with the entitlement and audacity that can only come with being a man, and with NO CLUE what they are talking about. Some of them are confused as to how women pee with a tampon in for fuck’s sake! Is anyone actually taking advice about sex from someone who doesn’t know anything about women’s anatomy?

Do these men even have girlfriends? Apparently you are washed up by the time you’re 25 and they mostly date 18 year old babies so I’m guessing the guys they are talking to are using this advice to get God fearing girls to succumb to their “charms” before they know any better.

There will be a whole generation of women having abysmal sex with entitled pricks who have convinced them that it’s not for them to enjoy, while they cook, clean, look after their kids and run their lives. This makes me sad. I thought we had come a long way from the 1950s. For fucks sake it’s 2024 – almost 75 years later and we are going backwards!

Not only that but these guys also teach their “students” that it’s OK for them to sleep with other women once their wives pop out the babies because it’s normal to lose their sexual desire for that women simply because she is the mother of their kids!!

I know that this is only a small section of society and not everyone feels this way. I know that before people probably thought this but they didn’t have the platform to put it out into the world and so maybe it isn’t new, but it’s new to me and I’m pissed off!

AND, if young boys/young men are seeing even a small section of these videos, how many of them may be influenced by it?

The recent speech by Harrison Butker (check it out on TikTok if you haven’t seen it – but bear in mind he takes a swipe at anyone who isn’t a straight, white, Christian man) at a graduation ceremony really brought to our attention how certain types of people view women’s place in the world and we have seen what has happened across the pond in the last few years, with women’s rights being stripped back. How long before this spreads to the UK and other countries. It might have seemed funny that there are people out there who think like this at first, but we must be offended and outraged. We must educate our younger generation and re-educate the older ones. These men are so certain that they are right and that they are in charge of women. They don’t want you to have a job, be independent, have a degree. They just want you barefoot and pregnant while they do whatever they want.

Of course if you want to be barefoot and pregnant then bloody marvellous, but these guys aren’t up for giving you that choice.

Another horrific thing that comes out of these videos is the vile slut shaming. Talk of “bodycounts” and not in the normal “how many people have you murdered” way. Men are obsessed with how many people we’ve slept with and then proceed to tell us that our vaginas will stretch if we sleep with multiple partners because too much dick does that to a girl. But not if you sleep with the same guy every day for the rest of your life…. it’s only multiple partners that give you a wizard’s sleeve apparently. So it’s not about how much action you’re getting, it’s just about whether or not you’re “being a good girl”. How about we reverse the narrative and start telling men that too many partners will whittle their little dicks away?

I could rant on about this for days. There is so much more out there that outrages me, and it seems to be never ending – something new every day. I should probably stop watching the videos that my algorithm throws up on my FYP, but if we ignore it, if we don’t comment on it, won’t it just get worse? And please, PLEASE, can all men stop referring to women as “females”. It just sounds so dismissive and derogatory – which of course it is meant to.

Me and Mr. Bay have just got back from a cheeky four days in Paris and oh my goodness, it was incredible. We had glorious sunshine, several romantic walks by the river, we took a boat trip and we walked the length of the Champs Elysees to see the Arc de Triomphe. We did a little bit of shopping in Galeries Lafayette and some sightseeing around Notre Dame and the Eiffel Tower.

We also had plenty of refreshment breaks in the bustling street cafes, where we sat and watched the world go by, gathering ideas for stories and characters as we watched the people walking past us.

I love Paris and I particularly love the French architecture; the grandeur of the buildings, old but romantic, historic domes and stained glass windows mixing with the newer, modern structures.

One building that I was excited to see was the Opera House, mainly because I recently wrote a story for Frolicme.com which featured this building. It was so fun to see it in real life and imagine my gorgeous couple waiting outside for their chauffeur. We took in the view from the Terrace at the top of Galeries Lafayette and it was breathtaking.

Peri-Menopausal, Menopausal, Post-Menopausal…

I couldn’t tell you for certain which phase I’m in, but then again neither could my doctor! Not that it matters if they could, because once you get here it’s all downhill apparently.

I was really lucky when I was younger as my periods were fairly light, with minimal pain and disruption to my daily life other than the faff of always having to have tampons in my bag, the awkward escapes to the loo with one tucked up your sleeve at school or in the office and feeling like I should avoid sex for a week each month. It was a bonding thing with other women, borrowing sanitary products in the pub toilets, always having a pack of Feminax on you in case a friend needed one. Some of my favourite memories are skipping PE and hiding in the loos because we were “on” and didn’t want to go swimming. I can remember laying on my back in the girls loos with my best friend with our legs against the wall because she was seeing her boyfriend later and apparently this would stop the flow! And who hasn’t had the sinking feeling when you get your period just before you go on holiday. But that was nothing to what some people go through, the cramps, the exhaustion, the never ending bleeding, the headaches, the inability to get out of bed and focus on day to day life due to the pain.

I was blissfully, personally, unaware of these issues – my only problems had been that some contraceptive pills made my mood swings worse, but now that I’ve hit the rough terrain of menopause, the medical ignorance of women’s health is eye opening to say the least.

Did you know that some students who train as doctors will leave university with no education in menopause at all? Approx 40% of UK universities do not teach it as mandatory. Which means when the time comes and you go to your GP, the chances are they will have no idea what the symptoms are, what the current guidelines are and what the treatment options available are.

The first time I spoke to my GP about menopause I was in my mid 40s and he laughed at me, telling me I was decades too early for it. In fact it is normal to hit peri-menopause in your late 40s but it can happen from your mid 30s onwards. It wasn’t until a few years later that I realised I was definitely going through it but that was from doing my own research and reading as many books as possible.

During lockdown I had trouble sleeping, night sweats, brain fog, mood swings, unbelievable levels of exhaustion and difficulty remembering words and what I was doing just a few minutes previously. I spoke to my GP several times and was referred to a mental health specialist who diagnosed me with an ED simply because I was exercising regularly and prioritising protein as part of my weight training. All other symptoms were put down to depression, anxiety and past trauma. No one would take my suggestion of menopause seriously.

The mood swings were so bad that I thought I might be bi-polar. I had days when I was so low that I didn’t know if I could carry on and times when I was so tired that I could barely function. I cried at the drop of a hat, I couldn’t sleep and when I did I sweated until the sheets were soaking wet. My eyes were dry all the time, my hair got thinner and every part of my ached. My heart raced, I had panic attacks and my skin was terrible. I couldn’t remember half of the things I needed to which started to affect my work and I felt stupid and old. But according to the doctors it was all in my head.

Finally I found a lady doctor who had trained in women’s health. She suggested HRT and I thought I was finally on track. With a combination of Oestrogen, Progesterone and Testosterone I was certain that things would get better. Silly me….

I don’t know if any of you have ever had the Mirena coil fitted? I had no idea how painful or traumatic it would be. Then, they don’t really know how much oestrogen or testosterone you should take so you’re pretty much left to your own devices to experiment!

Surely, a blood test to check your levels would be helpful. It probably would, but once you haven’t had a period for 12 months then they aren’t interested in testing you anymore. Even if previous bloods showed a low level of oestrogen even taking HRT. I’m still working on finding out how to stabilise my hormones.

BUT, one symptom that I haven’t experienced is the one that I was dreading the most – the loss of your libido!!

Maybe it’s because of what I write, maybe it’s because I only recently met my husband so we’re not bored of each other yet or maybe I’m just lucky, but it makes me so sad that so many of us get to this time in life, when we don’t have to worry about getting pregnant or having horrible periods and BOOM the urge just disappears, and there’s no real help out there for us unless we go and look for it ourselves.

So I wanted to pass on some tips and if you are feeling miserable about this new situation, maybe they can help turn things around:

1. Include Ashwaganda powder and Maca root into your diet. I take both regularly and it is claimed that they can help.
2. Try and reduce stress – take time out of your day to just sit and breathe or download one of the many apps with guided meditation (I use Calm).
3. Exercise – getting your body moving will help you to stay in tune with it. Even if it is just a walk, getting outside in the fresh air will ground you and help you connect with yourself again.
4. Take time to think about what turns you on. Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing, think about what you want to do. Talk to your partner if you have one, or take the time to choose a wide variety or toys and lube if you don’t (or if you do, it’s always fun to add toys to the mix!) Experiment with things you never have before – if menopause is anything, it is the time to be your absolute true self.
5. Read erotic fiction (shameless self promotion here) and immerse yourself in the story, get into the characters heads and feel what they feel. Explore what turns you on.
6. Watch porn. Preferably female focused porn, but mainly whatever turns you on. 8. Make time for you and your partner; go for a walk together, do something you both love, have a bath together, give each other a massage, order a takeaway and open a bottle of wine, or if you can, go out for the evening and dress up for each other.

As women, we very rarely give ourselves the time we need to stop, breathe and pay attention to ourselves and our bodies. Make sure you take time for you, every day! The family will manage without you for half an hour I promise.

Scarlett looked at her phone. Her stomach lurched. Valtteri. She answered it as she unlocked the bathroom door and hurried down the semi darkness of the castle corridors, back towards the party.

His eyes were a pale, almost iridescent blue, giving him a ghostly, terrifying quality and in a blind panic she turned and fled from the hall.

Scarlett could feel an icy chill, making the hairs on her neck prickle and she ran faster, catching a glimpse of her reflection in the huge windows. The pale man was right behind her, she could see his hands reaching out to grab her shoulders. With a small whimper of terror she spun around, but there was nothing there. Scarlett stumbled against the wall and stood there shivering. Her phone rang again but she ignored it, stepping through an open door and into the grounds.

It was dark and cold and she shivered in the crisp night air. Her exposed flesh prickled into goosebumps immediately and she rubbed her arms absentmindedly. Scarlett knew better than to disobey Valtteri when he called her darling. He was clearly with Drake. She turned on her heel and headed back towards the open door. Something moved in the corner of her eye and she spun around as an ice-cold mist wrapped itself around her. She started to run but before she could reach it, the door to the castle closed with a loud bang. Scarlett grabbed the handle and pulled but she knew she was wasting her time. She could feel the icy chill at her neck again and she shivered, too scared to turn around. She knew he was there.

“So nice to meet you Scarlett,” he whispered against her ear and she could feel his body pressed against hers. “As you can’t be trusted tonight, Valtteri said I should come and make sure you get back to the Hall safely.”

He grabbed her wrist and spun her around. She found herself looking at his chest and raised her eyes to meet his. The sharp intake of breath that escaped from her lips was caused almost as much by his face as by her terror.
