There is just one day left to take your place in history and submit your entry to the groundbreaking Life in a Day project!

For those unfamiliar with the project Life in a Day is the first of its kind, a user-generated film experiment where users submit footage shot on the 24th of July capturing a moment of their lives from that day. Selected footage will be included in a feature length film directed by Academy Award Winning director Kevin MacDonald and produced by the legendary Ridley Scott, director of Blade Runner, Alien and Gladiator. If having your footage in a...

The rise and rise of Android is attributable to many factors. Things like the variety of handset choices, the openness of the apps for developers and the price in comparison to other smartphones being a big factor. Today the Google Maps application, which comes as standard on all Android phones, got even better with the arrival of Google Maps for mobile 4.4 – the sixth update in six months for Google Maps!

As if that wasn’t enough of a recommendation for the LE8900, T3 have now nominated it as part of their Gadget of the Year Awards 2010 in the TV of the Year category.

T3 had this to say about the LE8900:

This year, the festivities took place in July at the Aalto Theater in Essen, where more than 1,600 companies from almost 60 countries displayed over 4,000 products. LG Electronics, now well established as a design innovator, received four winners’ awards and two honorable mentions.

LG Electronics are pleased to announce they have become a Team and Technology Partner to Red Bull Racing in the FIA Formula One World Championship™.

OLED has been a buzzword for a few years now, heralded as THE technology that will revolutionize home entertainment. Aside from Sony’s 11inch offering that was launched 2 years ago (and is subsequently no longer in production) there has been little in the way of OLED available for the consumer market. Well LG’s commitment to new technologies strikes again with the arrival of the 15inch EL9500 OLED, in selected stores now!

You may well be asking yourself not only is this technology any good, but is this TV any good? Well according to AVForums it’s excellent!

I finally managed to get my hands on the new LG Viewty Snap phone and have been putting it through its paces!

One of the biggest selling points of the Viewty Snap is the use of it as a quality multimedia phone – with a 5mp camera complete with Optic-all zoom so you don’t lose picture quality as you zoom in. Build on this with an LED flash and good quality video recorder and you have a decent camera. The pictures below were taken using the camera, the second photo using the zoom.

In last weekend’s Mail on Sunday Live magazine supplement, England Cricket star James Anderson shifts his skills from the green to the living room with his review of the 47-inch LG LD950 3DTV.

James is a man who knows his technology, spending so much time on the road that it is necessary to keep himself entertained, however before sitting down in front of the passive technology LD950 James had never experienced 3D – in the home or cinema! His first thoughts were how the “3D effect really draws you in and the sense of depth to the picture is incredibly realistic”.

Let’s be honest, you didn’t really want to do it. It’s for kids wasting their time, too young to know better. But it’s everywhere; in your face 24/7 everywhere you go. That’s why you did it. That’s why you joined Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare or any of the other numerous social media sites out there! And to be honest, we joined them all too…

The campaign is spread across idents for Channel4 and E4 (which can also be viewed on the dedicated YouTube channel)...

LG have teamed up with YouTube and the world famous filmmakers Ridley Scott and Kevin MacDonald in asking people around the world to help them create the first user generated feature length documentary shot in one day – the 24th of July 2010. The finished product will be directed by Kevin MacDonald, the Oscar winning director of the documentary ‘One Day in September’ and has...

The England football team may have crashed out of the World Cup prematurely, but we can still take comfort in being one of the best rugby union teams of the past 10 years, with a World Cup title and another appearance in the final. Ben Cohen MBE was one of the key players in the successful 2003 Rugby World Cup campaign and remains England’s 3rd highest try scorer of all time. Techradar recently gave the LG BD750 Blu-ray player a 5 star rating and now the HB965TZ Blu-ray player has received a 5 star review and taken the top prize in a group test with What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision.

The HB965TZ is an all in one speaker and Blu-ray combo offering wireless connectivity and “stylish design”. Up against similar offerings from JVC, Panasonic and Samsung, the LG walks away with the top prize being “a wonderfully rounded, highly capable all-in-one system”.

The strengths of the HB965TZ are listed as “stylish design; built in wi-fi connectivity; punchy, clear sound; colourful, detailed images” resulting...

What LCD & Plasma Screen have conducted a group test, but a group test with a difference. Instead of the conventional criteria for a review, the televisions were judged on their eco-friendly credentials.

And the good news is that it is worthy of a 5 star rating, meaning you can watch your LE5900 for hours without worrying about the environment (or your electricity bill). The review says “this 42in edge LED panel typically uses 85w in full flow, which only a year ago would have been inconceivable”.

The great reviews for LG’s technology keep rolling in as Techradar award the BD570 media streamer an excellent 5 stars and ask the ultimate question, ‘is it a media streamer that plays Blu-rays, or vice versa?

The review highlights the quality of the BD570 as both a media player and as a Blu-ray player, all in a small shell. It is assessed on its ability to playback a wide range of media files including avi, .DivX, .mpg, .mkv, .mp4, .wma, .jpg, .jpeg and .png, Blu-ray, DVD and even audio and passes all tests emphatically.

The closing comment of the review states “The...

The pros for the LE8900 range from the quality of the black levels and backlight uniformity through to the inclusion of built in Freeview HD and design of the remote and menus for ease of use. Techradar have posted an article on their site talking through the best 46-inch, 47-inch and 50-inch TVs in the world. Techradar explain their decision to cover TVs of this size by explaining how TVs of this size get the newest technologies first.

This is the case for LG’s 50-inch PK790 plasma TV, which is packed full of great features including LG’s NetCast online service. The review also picks up on its design which they say is “one of the most attractive we’ve ever seen wrapped around a Plasma TV”.

To celebrate their latest range of innovative Home Appliances, LG held an exclusive event just off London’s Regent Street at the Artspace Gallery. Upon arrival you were greeted by an electric blue neon sign in the window, which said ‘STEAM’. The second you stepped inside and headed downstairs in the gallery, it became evident that steam was the theme with LG’s latest washing machines.

The models on display, including the F1443KDS (pictured below), were all part of LG’s revolutionary LG Steam Direct Drive Washer family. Building on last year’s successful large capacity direct drive range, this year’s LG has added an...

There are several methods for bringing images into the third dimension. Of these, two offer the tantalizing prospect of 3D TV without the need of glasses. Displaybank has estimated that 6.2m 3D TVs will ship in 2010, a relatively small 3% share of all TV shipments. This is predicted to steadily rise to 31%, or 83m, in 2014. At this year’s CES Microsoft’s Aaron Greenberg said that Xbox 360 was fully compatible with 3D in terms of technology. But he also questioned the level of interest around 3D gaming, stating "I think right now we're unsure what level of interest there is...

LG have recently undertaken a survey on Android Apps ahead of the release of their new Android phone – the LG Optimus GT540 handset.

You would be forgiven for thinking that gaming or lifestyle apps were the most popular, but the results indicate that people are keenest on using apps on their Android phones as a money saving tool! The five most wanted app types are:

Apps that save you money (25%)
Apps that save you time (9%)
