Christmas Celebration Invitation 2009

LHCkids will once again be collecting shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child and invite everyone to download a brochure or pick one up in the Welcome Center, lower hallway or gym, to fill one or more shoeboxes and to return them to the table in the Welcome Center by Sunday, November 22.

How to Pack a Shoebox

LHCkids will also be hosting a Shoebox Packing Party on Saturday, November 21 at 9:00 am for kids in K-5th grade and their parents.  The morning will feature the premier of the new Veggie Tales movie, St. Nicholas:  A Story of Joyful Giving.  Admission to the event will be one filled shoebox.  Watch a preview here - Operation Christmas Child’s VeggieTales Countdown

As part of the morning they will also be filling additional shoeboxes.  If you would like to donate items to be put in those shoeboxes, please drop them off to Pastor John in the church office or in the basket in the Welcome Center by November 14th.

In celebration of 25 years of prayer for children and schools, Moms In Touch International is hosting a historic prayer event, inviting Christian women from around the world to gather together to “Arise! Cry Out!” for the generations.

What’s involved?
Each evening begins with supper followed by a talk, with opportunities for discussion in small groups.  The course is very relaxed and informal.

When & where will it be held?
The course begins Friday, October 2nd and will run for the five Friday evenings in October from 6:30 p.m. to 9:15 p.m.   It will be led by Doug & Lisa Bortner and meet at their home in Basking Ridge.

Women’s Newsletter - Spring/Summer 2009

Please join us beginning Thursday, September 24th at 7:15 pm, where we will explore this question, “Is There More to Life than This?”, through The Alpha Course. This is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking weekly sessions.

The Alpha Course is designed both for people who aren’t churchgoers and those that are. Guests attend for a wide variety of reasons - some want to investigate whether God exists; some are concerned about what happens after death and others want to get more connected to their faith. Some people have particular questions that they would like to discuss; others want to understand other peoples’ beliefs or would like to explore the purpose of life.  Many guests have never been to church, others may have attended church occasionally but feel they have never really understood the basics of the Christian faith and even for those who have been to church for a number of years have found the course to be a great way of deepening their faith and becoming more connected.
