On Thursday, Christy Zink testified in opposition to H.R. 1797, a 20-week abortion ban that anti-abortion representatives of Congress keep attempting to impose upon the women in the nation’s capital. Abortion opponents claim that 20-week bans are necessary to prevent “fetal pain.” But in her testimony, Zink pointed out it’s misleading to suggest that this abortion restriction would serve this purpose, since forcing her to carry her pregnancy to term would have actually caused her unborn son considerable pain.

hn order to justify his support for H.R. 1797, Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) suggested that Zink should have given birth to her son anyway, regardless of the pain that may have caused her family. The congressman told a story about a different couple who decided to give birth to a fetus with different types of disabilities — suggesting that Zink should have made the same choice for her son, instead of deciding to “rip him apart.”

“McBride recorded the conversation and has turned over a copy to federal agents, part of a wide-ranging investigation into alleged misconduct in the attorney general’s office under Shurtleff and his successor, John Swallow.”

McBride says he had invested $286,000 with a prominent businessman, Mark Robbins, who had allegedly promised him a $5 million return that McBride hoped would sustain a grueling legal battle over intellectual-property rights between his company, The SCO Group, and IBM.

But, facing a bench warrant in a separate civil case, Robbins had vanished. McBride took his pursuit of Robbins to the Internet, setting up a website called Skyline Cowboy, a sort of virtual bounty-hunting operation aimed at flushing out Robbins.

So it was that McBride found himself sitting across from Shurtleff in May 2009, listening to the state’s chief law-enforcement officer trying to persuade him to ditch the website and offering to get McBride $2 million if he backed off Robbins.

The 142-page decision by U.S. District Judge Murray Snow in Phoenix backs up allegations that Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s critics have made for years that his officers rely on race in their immigration enforcement.

Snow also ruled Arpaio’s deputies unreasonably prolonged the detentions of people who were pulled over.

A small group of Latinos alleged in a lawsuit that Arpaio’s deputies pulled over some vehicles only to make immigration status checks…

The ruling represents a victory for those who pushed the lawsuit. They weren’t seeking money damages but a rather declaration that Arpaio’s office racially profiles and an order that requires it to make policy changes. The sheriff won’t face jail time or fines as a result of the ruling.

Kayla Earl — who claims to have auditioned for reality show “America’s Next Top Model” — was found dumped near a cemetery in Pleasant Grove, Ala., at 5 a.m. Tuesday.

The 19-year-old swimsuit and lingerie model told cops she was visiting a pal’s grave when she was grabbed by an unknown man who stuffed her head in a bag and tried to rape her.He then left her for dead in a ditch.

But investigators noticed holes in her tale and she soon confessed to staging the entire attack — saying she thought it would convince her ex to get back together with her.

“She is going through some personal problems,” Pleasant Grove Detective Jason Davis told the Birmingham News.

The poll found that social liberalism is up six points since 2001 and is embraced by about half the Democrats and those who lean Democrats.

On the topic of gay rights, Schlafly said that she continues to oppose marriage equality despite having a gay son, but also seems to be under the impression that same-sex couples can already get married: “Any gay couple can get married— all they have to do is find a preacher or justice of the peace who will perform the ceremony. There’s no law against that.”

She maintained that gay rights advocates are really pushing “an interference with our free speech rights” and warned that “homosexuals are teaching their ideology in the schools, and kids are learning it.”
