        <description>ONE National Gay &amp;amp; Lesbian Archives at the USC Libraries recently completed Out West: The LGBTQ Community Archives Cataloging Project, an ambitious collaboration with San Francisco&#39;s GLBT Historical Society. Support from the Council on Library and Information Resources enabled archivists at ONE and GLBTHS to make available 111 previously hidden collections tracing LGBTQ history&#45;&#45;and daily life&#45;&#45;in California communities.         <description>Archivists at the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries recently completed an ambitious 2&#45;year cataloging project. Thanks to generous support from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission (NHPRC), they processed 225 archival collections on many facets of U.S. LGBTQ life from the 1940s to the present. The collections document the work of early activists and visual artists as well as the daily lives of ordinary people who broke new ground for LGBTQ communities throughout the U.S. Keep reading for more details about the project and photos from the newly processed collections.</description>

        <description>The USC Libraries are accepting submissions for the USC Libraries Primary Sources Research Award through Tuesday, January 20. Designed to encourage the use of primary source materials from library collections, the award recognizes excellence in USC student papers and essays written as coursework during the 2014 calendar year. There are four prizes: $1,000 for the first&#45;place graduate student submission and $400 for the second&#45;place entry; and $500 for the first place undergraduate submission and $200 for the second&#45;place entry.         <description>Two undergraduate students utilizing testimonies from the USC Shoah Visual History Archive earned the top prizes for papers submitted to the first&#45;annual USC Libraries Research Award competition, which encourages the use of primary source materials in student research.

	International Relations major Nitya Ramanathan took the first prize with her paper entitled&amp;nbsp;How Do We Put Ourselves Back Together? An Analytical Comparison between Transitional Justice in Rwanda and South Africa.&amp;nbsp;History major&amp;nbsp;Diem&#45;Tran Nguyen took second place with&amp;nbsp;The Paradoxical Treatment of Male Homosexual Prisoners During the Holocaust.&amp;nbsp;Both papers&amp;nbsp;were submitted as part of Professor Wolf Gruner&#39;s course.</description>
