        <description>Author Paul Lieberman will speak about his book&amp;nbsp;Gangster Squad, the basis of an upcoming Warner Bros. film of the same name, at the January 10 Friends of the USC Libraries Literary Evening. An award&#45;winning investigative journalist, Lieberman revealed through meticulous research the secret history of an LAPD unit that waged war against Los Angeles mobster Mickey Cohen in the 1940s and 1950s.&amp;nbsp;Admission includes parking and costs $15 for Friends of the USC Libraries members or $25 for non&#45;members. The reception begins at 6:00 p.m. in Doheny Library&#39;s Friends of the USC Libraries Lecture Hall.         <title>USC Annenberg Students Create Digital Project Based on Ruben Salazar Collection</title>

        <description>Last year, the family of the late journalist Ruben Salazar donated his personal archives to the USC Libraries. Now, a new&amp;nbsp;digital project&amp;nbsp;based on the collection will provide greater public awareness of the award&#45;winning reporter&#39;s life and career. Created by USC Annenberg students and directed by USC Annenberg professors&amp;nbsp;Felix Gutierrez and Robert Hernandez, the Ruben Salazar Project features student&#45;written articles about Salazar that incorporate selected documents from the collection. Students also created an interactive timeline that highlights photographs, news clippings, and personal documents from the archive.</description>
