A new exhibit of photographs, news clippings, leaflets, and other materials from the USC University Archives documents the creative — and sometimes destructive — hijinks inspired by USC's interscholastic rivalries. Among USC's earliest rivals was Occidental College; in 1919, USC students kidnapped Occidental's mascot, a stuffed tiger. In more recent times, rivalries with UCLA and the University of Notre Dame have sparked playful pranks. In 1958, the Daily Trojan's managing editor oversaw the production of a fake edition of the Daily Bruin, which Trojan students then distributed across UCLA's Westwood campus. Stop by the the Special Collections display case on Doheny Library's second floor to see the exhibit.
