This almost had to be the picture of the day

I turned on my camera, realized i didn't have any pictures from today and remarked outloud to J, "AH! I don't have any pictures for today!" and then snapped his facial response to such an atrocity.

and then, relief!

i realized i'd snapped a sweet one of Cutie Pie

on the iPhone

waiting patiently on Mimi & Poppy's couch

for me to finish packing up the car

not, of course, to say that an impromptu picture of J

wouldn't count...

Cutie Cakes

instead, she was lucky enough to hang out with her Poppy

on my birthday

because...she and her sisters all have ear infections

post-doctor playground visit

for Cutie Cakes 2-year well checkup

Poor Cutie Cakes cried from the moment we walked into the room to the moment we left. Thankfully, the stickers and the "treasure" (teeny tiny puppy dog) from the treasure tower helped cheer the cutie up in time to enjoy the playground!

we did some craft time at Cutie Face's preschool today

(painting rocks for a class project)

they were very kind to let the kid sister participate!

4-year old birthday parties

are in full swing

today is my grandpa's birthday

he would have been 84

he really didn't like cats

but he tolerated ours...even to the point of calling,

"...here kitty kitty kitty..."

whenever we would take them to Florida to visit

i can still picture him in his favorite chair

beckoning Churchill and dangling his fingers down

while wearing a shirt that said,

"i like cats, i just can't eat a whole one by myself"

yup, that was my grandpa!

Sometimes Cutie Cakes looks up at me

and i catch my breath

her eyes are just unreal!

when I was little,

I used to pray my eyes would turn blue like the twin's

then we read a missionary story about Amy Carmichael

she quickly became my favorite missionary

(do kids have such things?!)

because she used to pray that her eyes would change color, too

she knew God could answer her prayers. She believed He could

but He didn't.

Years later, as a missionary in India,

she realized God answered her prayer with a "no"

in order to blend in and not stick out

as a woman

who just happened to be a missionary

it was imperative that she look the part

all the way down to her brown eyes

anyway.

all that to say,

it seems 2 of my girls received the stunning blue eyes

i prayed for long ago

(+ a princess and hello kitty set thrown in for good measure)

just don't put the cuties on the spot and ask them

to identify their letters

it appears that they inherited my "fear of failure" issue

and would often rather not try than be wrong

is way cooler than the one in Atlanta

I worked in the Harvard Museum of Natural History for 3 years

so it was only natural

for us to become members of Atlanta's own history museum

bonus? we can (literally) run there in about 10 minutes.

i foresee many trips to the science center this winter and summer...

a week or two ago

we discovered that the toy store

next to Trader Joe's

has a working ride-on horse toy

nowadays, it's almost an obligatory stop

after every trip to the Teej

but i don't mind--

might be the best $0.25 spent to illicit such huge grins!
