You all know by now that preppy style is a real weakness of mine. So when I saw this Spring & Summer campaign that Gant has prepared for the last year of our lives I couldn't avoid feeling the cheer and joy that this style, unavoidably, these kind of pictures make me feel. Todos sabéis a estas alturas que el estilo 'preppy' es realmente una de mis debilidades. Así que cuando ví ésta campaña de Primavera & Verano que Gant nos ha preparado para el último año de nuestras vidas, no pude evitar sentir el gozo y la alegría que imágenes como éstas me transmiten. A small introduction: Gant was a Swedish turned into a Swiss clothing brand but with a lot of European and American style heritage, founded in New Haven in 1949 by Bernard Gant and his family.

Una pequeña introducción: Gant era una marca de ropa y accesorios sueca convertida a suiza pero con una extensa herencia obtenida del estilo americano y posteriormente europeo, fundada en New Haven en el año 1949 por Bernard Gant y su familia.

Cardigans combined with shorts and check shirts, pastel colours and classic summerly colours such as navy and whites, and of course, stripes.
Cardigans combinados con pantalones cortos y camisetas de cuadros, colores pasteles y clásicos del verano como el azul marino o el blanco y. cómo no, rayas.

Of course, a bit of eccentricity was not going to be left out. Patterns all over your clothes, for those who don't give a f*ck.

Claro estaba que un poquito de excentricidad no iba a dejarse de lado. Estampados en toda la ropa, para aquellos a los que no les importa el qué dirán.

All considerable preppy-style lines can't leave sportwear out, that is a fact. But you can keep yourself fit without leaving the good-looks aside, and Gant tries to prove this without failing to do so.

Todas aquellas líneas de este estilo que se precien no pueden dejar de lado el 'sportwear' de lado, eso es un hecho. Pero puedes mantenerte en forma sin dejar de verte bien, y Gant intenta demostrarnos ésto sin fallar en el intento.

My birthday is just around the corner... As hurtful as it is for my Peter Pan syndrome, it's unavoidable so why not take it in the best way possible? After all, I'm truly grateful to be able to witness how such a great year ends, with its good and it's bad things, but great after all.

So, born from my boredom in today's day, I've decided to make a birthday wish-list, just in case somebody wants to give me a present and, why not, a true surprise!

Mi cumpleaños está a la vuelta de la esquina... Por muy doloroso que resulte para mi Síndrome de Peter Pan, es algo inevitable así que por qué no tomárselo de la mejor manera posible? Después de todo, estoy realmente agradecido de poder contemplar cómo acaba un año maravilloso, con sus cosas buenas y sus cosas malas, pero maravilloso después de todo.

Así que, concebida desde el más profundo aburrimiento que he experimentado hoy, he decidido elaborar una lista de aquellas cosas que me encantaría que me regalasen, por si alguien quiere hacerme un regalo y, por qué no, darme una verdadera sorpresa!

1·) Louis Vuitton 'Voyage' bag.

I fell in love with this bag since I first saw it. Oh, this beautiful and gorgeous Louis Vuitton model from their 'Damier Infiniti' line with its amazing satin finish and metallic trim. I can't use more adjectives to describe how much I like it!

Me enamoré de éste bolso desde el primer momento en que lo vi. Éste precioso y perfecto modelo de la línea 'Damier Infiniti' de Louis Vuitton con su aún más perfecto acabado satinado y sus piezas metálicas. No puedo usar más adjetivos para describir lo mucho que me gusta!

2·) 'Boss Orange' for Men by Hugo Boss.

I know this fragrance has been around for quite a while, but its just recently that I got a tester and got the opportunity to use it, and I have to say that it's the perfect fragrance for me: not too strong, not too light. All my latest fragrances have been by Gucci, but this one is, for sure, going to end up in my closet soon.

Soy consciente de que ésta fragancia ha estado en el mercado desde hace varios meses, pero ha sido recientemente cuando he disfrutado de una muestra y he tenido la oportunidad de usarla, y he de decir que es la fragancia perfecta para mí: no demasiado intenso, no demasiado 'light'. Todas mis últimas fragancias han sido de Gucci pero ésta, sin duda alguna, va a ser mía muy muy pronto.

3·) A trip to my home: Lanzarote.

Last but not least, I would absolutely adore going back to my roots in Canary Islands. It's been long since I came to Madrid and I haven't been able to go back, and I think its high time to go and visit my family and my close friends. Plus, my sister Copelia, which you might remember from this post, has come back from Chile, and almost a year has passed since I gave her the last hug, so I guess I'm ready for a mini come-back.

Por último pero no menos importante, me encantaría volver a mis raíces en las Islas Canarias. Ha sido un tiempo largo desde que me vine a Madrid y no he tenido la oportunidad de volver, y creo que ya es hora de hacerlo y volver a ver a mi familia y a mis amigos más cercanos. Aparte, mi hermana Copelia, que probablemente recordaréis de éste post, ha vuelto de Chile, y ha pasado casi un año desde nuestro último abrazo, así que creo que estoy listo para un mini-retorno.

Surfing through the Internet in what I call perfect nights, when you don't have to sleep early (you know I hate sleeping early) or worrying about waking up at 8 AM (you also know how much of a struggle is my waking up!), I came across this FABULOUS lookbook of a british brand named Kent & Curwen and which I was unaware about until today, thanks to Trendencias Hombre. Navegando por Internet en una de aquellas noches que yo llamo perfectas, en las que no te tienes que acostar temprano (sabéis lo mucho que odio acostarme temprano!) y en los que no te tienes que preocupar en levantarte a las 8 de la mañana (también sabéis el problema que tengo para despegarme de mis calentitas sábanas...), dí con éste lookbook totalmente FABULOSO de una marca británica llamada Kent & Curwen, cuya existencia desconocía por completo y que descubrí gracias a Trendencias Hombre. Os dejo con una foto inicial para que os vayáis haciendo a la idea de lo que os espera tras el salto!

Still in a chill-out mode after my amazing three days escape to Candeleda, my bff's hometown. Living in Madrid has helped me realize that, even though I love cities with all my heart, I will always try to take out time and get back to human's roots, staying in contact with nature, our true home.

Todavía en modo chill-out después de mi estupenda escapada de tres días a Candeleda, el pueblo natal de mi 'bff'. Vivir en Madrid me ha ayudado a darme cuenta de que, a pesar de que me encantan y adoro profundamente las ciudades, siempre intentaré sacar algo de tiempo para volver a las raíces del ser humano y mantener contacto con la naturaleza, nuestro verdadero hogar.

I've had fantastic days, I can't complain about anything at this point in my life! Finally I found a flat to stay, after almost three weeks of staying at my friend's place, I'm finally getting to move tomorrow so everything's just getting so exciting!

And that's not the ending point. It has been a very special week, on the past 30th November was my dear blog lifeisalol's ANNIVERSARY! Read more clicking right below.

No puedo creerme que ya haya pasado un año, parece que fue ayer! Espero que sean muchos más los que vengan.

Aquí por Madrid todo va demasiado deprisa. Acostumbrado a vivir en un sitio minúsculo donde todos nos conocíamos, me parece increible toda esta experiencia que estoy viviendo. Y cómo no, también he salido de fiesta (qué haría yo sin ellas!) pero bueno, eso ya lo dejo para otro día! No quiero quitarle protagonismo a un día tan especial.

I can't believe it's been a year already, seems like I just started this blog yesterday! I look forward for many more to come.

Here in Madrid everything happens to fast. I've grown up in a small, secured place where everyone knew each other so this is being an amazing experience for me. Obviously, I've also gone partying (what would my life be without them?) but, let's leave that for another post; I don't want to eclipse such a happy day!

Y como no podía ser de otra manera, éste día tan especial había que celebrarlo, y qué mejor celebración que con una de las mejores personas que he conocido nunca.

Hola mundo:

Ya llevo 10 días en Madrid, y he de decir que me encanta, aunque eso no es nada nuevo. Mi amor por las ciudades y el ambiente tan cosmopolita viene de mucho atrás, y quienes me conocen saben que está arraigado en lo más profundo de mi.

He pasado por numerosos Starbucks, centros comerciales, avenidas y paseos, el famoso Kilómetro 0 e incluso he podido ir al Museo del Prado por su aniversario. Me encanta el arte y la historia, y aquí está en su máximo esplendor.
Obviamente, no podía faltar mi dosis de streetstyle. Podría pasarme horas y horas sentado en algún banco en plena Gran Vía, observando cómo cada día pasan miles de personas con estilos tan distintos como variopintos, todos ellos con algo especial que los hace únicos. Todo un placer para mi vista debo añadir.

I've been in Madrid for 10 days now, and I have to say I love it, but that's nothing new. My love for big cities and their cosmopolitan vibrations comes from far behind, and those who know me are well aware of that.
I've gone through plenty of Starbucks, shopping centres but also to great historical places as well as the famous Kilómetro 0, which is the origin of all the roads in Spain. I've even been to the Museo del Prado for their anniversary. I love art and history, and over here it's on its maximum level.

Obviously, I couldn't avoid getting my daily dose of streetstyle. I could sit for hours in any bench in Gran Vía, staring at the thousands of people that go across that lane every day, with so many different styles but with something that makes them truly unique. A pleasure for my sight I may add.

Con apenas tiempo entre el trabajo, los preparativos y la poquísima vida social de la que estoy gozando últimamente (ojalá los días tuvieran más horas!), no puedo evitar pensar en la falta que me haces.

Día tras día, hora tras hora, en mis mejores momentos, en los peores, en los no tan buenos y en los no tan malos, en todos deberías estar tú. Así fue y así es como debería haber sido, pero no es. El destino y la vida son así de caprichosos, nunca creas que lo tienes todo porque de un día a otro puedes no tenerlo más.

Pero el show debe continuar. Vivo echándote de menos, esperando que algún día vuelvas a mí, a donde perteneces, pues sin ti soy fuerte pero a tu lado soy invencible.

Te quiero.

With barely time left between work, the arrangements and the bits of an almost inexistent social life (wish the days had more hours!), I can't avoid thinking how much I miss you.

Day by day, hour after hour, in my best moments, in the worst, in the not so good and in the not so bad ones, you're meant to be there. This is the way it was and how it should have remained, but it didn't. Fate and life had different plans for us, don't ever think you have it all because one day you might not have it anymore.

Agosto comenzó muy tranquilo pero, a medida que han ido pasando los días y Septiembre se acerca, mis días vuelven a tener 24 horas y he abandonado mi vampírica vida por otra llena de libros, lenguas muertas y levantarse a las 8 de la mañana.

August started quite calm but, as the days pass by and September comes near, my days started to have 24 hours again and I have abandoned my vampire lifestyle for another one full of books, dead languages and waking up at 8 AM.

Espero que pronto pueda comenzar una nueva fase en mi vida, llena de experiencias y, por qué no, también de nuevas personas que me aporten algo nuevo. Al fin y al cabo, la vida se trata de eso: coleccionar recuerdos.

I hope I can start a new phase in my life before this year ends, full of experiences and, why not, meeting new people who can show me something new. After all, life is all about collecting memories, isn't it?

Incluso a pesar de estar tan ocupado estos días, todos necesitamos tomarnos un descanso de vez en cuando y, cómo no, qué mejor día para ese descanso que un sábado?
Tuvo lugar en mi isla un desfile de Misses, con motivo de las fiestas capitalinas, para elegir la que sería la Miss Arrecife (que representaría mi isla en el certamen nacional de Misses) y la Reina de las Fiestas de este año.

Even though I've been quite busy lately, we all need to take a break sometimes and can you think of a better day off than a Saturday?
A catwalk show took place in my island to choose who would be Miss Arrecife (and represent my island in a national competition) and the called Reina de las Fiestas, which is actually hard to explain so I think I better skip it before I mess it up :P .

Han pasado varios días desde mi última actualización, pero no he parado! Estamos ya en Agosto (lo que quiere decir comenzar a estudiar nuevamente) y he intentado que los últimos días de Julio fuesen aprovechados al máximo. He salido de marcha, he pasado tiempo con la gente que quiero e incluso fuí a una fiesta de pijamas!

It's been days since I last updated my blog, but I haven't stopped! We have reached August already (which means studying again) and I've tried my best to take full advantage of time in the last days of July. I have spend time with the people I love, have been partying quite a lot and even attended a pyjama party!

El tiempo pasa con demasiada rapidez y tenemos que aprovecharlo al máximo. Aunque ahora seas joven el día de mañana no lo serás y el tiempo tendrá otro significado para tí. Construirme una vida llena de recuerdos agradables, deshechando aquellos que no lo sean es una de mis prioridades, y es una tarea diaria auto-impuesta aprovechar hasta el último segundo del día.

Time runs to fast and we have to live up to it's pace. Maybe now you think you are young and you assume that there's plenty of time but tomorrow you might realize that days have gone to fast and time will have another meaning for you. Making up a life filled up with good memories and throwing far away those that aren't that good is my main priority, and it's a daily mission I intend to accomplish: to value every second of my days.

A veces en la vida se nos presentan determinadas situaciones que no siempre sabemos si vamos a poder superar, obstáculos que se nos cruzan en el camino y nos hacen creer que jamás llegaremos a nuestro destino final, que no podremos plantarles cara y que no encontraremos nunca la solución a nuestros problemas.

Sometimes in life, we are obliged to deal with certain issues that we aren't sure about having the enough courage to overcome them, obstacles that come into our way causing us to fall and make us believe that we will never reach our final destiny, that we won't be able to face them and that we will never find the solution to our problems.

Pero las soluciones no caen del cielo, hemos de buscarlas nosotros. Sólo nosotros tenemos el poder de cambiar nuestras vidas. La cuestión no es el poder hacerlo, es el querer hacerlo, ya que en más de una ocasión nos vemos abrumados por el peso de las situaciones y no nos paramos a pensar en cómo remediarlo, simplemente nos quejamos aún a sabiendas de que eso no cambiará nada. Tú puedes hacerlo, la verdadera pregunta es... Quieres hacerlo?

But solutions never fall from heaven, we are the ones who need to find them. Only we have the power to change our lives. The main dilemma isn't the ability to do so, it's the desire to do it as we often feel overwhelmed about the issues that concern us and never stop to think about how to solve them, we are used to just sit down and complain even though we know that won't change anything. You can do it, the real question is... Do you want to?

Continuando con el descanso más que necesario después de tanta vida nocturna, no puedo pensar en nada mejor que un sábado noche tranquilo después de una tarde muy ajetreada. Ojalá pudiese vivir eternamente en este periodo tan stress-free en el que estoy!

Keeping up with my more than needed break from nightlife, I can't think of anything better than a relaxed Saturday night after a very busy evening. I wish I could stay for eternity in this stress-free period I'm in right now!

Look 5: Shopping is the best detox method.

Hoy fue el comienzo de las rebajas aquí en mi isla, y a falta de planes más interesantes (hay algo más interesante que una tarde de compras?) decidimos ir en dirección shopping centre. Después de un par de horas de lo más estresante, decidimos reponer energías y... qué mejor manera de hacerlo que a base de comida rápida no destacable por su alto valor nutritivo? McDonald's siempre está ahí para las hambrunas a base de consumismo.

Today was the first day of sales on my island, and in lack of better plans (can you think of something more interesting than shopping?) we decided to go to a shopping centre. After a few more than stressful hours, we decided to get food in our stomachs to renew our energies and... what better way to do that than a bunch of junk food absolutely non remarkable for its high quality nutritional value? McDonald's is always there to save your life.

Creo que he invertido bien mi dinero considerando que aún estamos en el primer día. Todavía quedan largas semanas de rebajas (ya no digo meses porque todos sabemos lo que queda al final...) así que no dudo que éste haya sido el primero de un par de viajes almenos al magnífico mundo del shopping therapy. (esperemos!)

I think I've invested quite well my money considering we're still in sale's first day. There are still long weeks for them to continue (I don't say months because we all know what's left at the end...) so I don't doubt this is one of the few trips I'm gonna make to the magnificent world of shopping therapy! (at least I hope so!)

Después de una noche de mal dormir (por no decir de no dormir), decidí salir y ver qué me deparaba éste nuevo día, y todo resultó mejor de lo que esperaba.

After a night of bad sleep, I decided to hang out and see what this new day was gonna bring to me, and everything turned out to be better than what I expected.

Searching for something that would come out from my I-wear-the-first-thing-I-see-in-my-closet pattern, I decided to wear this maxi hoodie from my brother's closet. Ironically, he's smaller than me but also much more taller; I guess he has to thank my father for that.

He tenido la peor semana de todo mi 2011, y eso que aún estamos en Junio. Pero soy positivo, pues de todo lo malo siempre se saca algo bueno, aunque desgraciadamente como buenos seres humanos solemos tender a magnificar lo malo, lo dañino, y a ni siquiera pensar en lo bueno pues para el pensamiento general de las masas, lo bueno nunca es suficiente. Desgracias aparte, me han servido para reflexionar y pasar tiempo conmigo mismo averiguando qué falta para que todo sea perfecto.

Quizá hace unos meses mi mayor duda era llegar a entender las relaciones que mantenemos con los demás y todo esa complejidad que las rodea, ahora me he dado cuenta de que mi mayor inquietud es encontrar algo que me proporcione una misión al despertarme cada día de mi cama y satisfacción al acostarme en ella otra vez. Supongo que todo ser humano tiene que buscar lo que le haga feliz y desconozco si todos lo harán, pero gracias a Dios mis inquietudes distan mucho del quién ganará la Champions el año que viene, de si fulanito está con fulanita, de si el cuento del invitado de turno en Sálvame es creíble o no. Ojalá pudiera plasmar en palabras todos mis sentimientos, pero mucho me temo que aún no hay palabras que puedan describir todo lo que me gustaría expresar. Sólo me queda intentarlo, no?

I've really had the worst week of all my year, and we're still in June. But I'm positive, because from everything that goes wrong we always can get something good in return, but due to human nature we always tend to magnify all the bad stuff and we don't even think about the good things because, generally, for the human thought, the good stuff is never enough. Problems apart, they have helped me think and meditate to figure out what's missing for everything to be perfect.

Maybe few months back my full-time doubt was to understand the relations we maintain between us as humans and the complexity that surrounds them, but now I've realised that my biggest concern is to find something that provides me with a mission when I wake up in the morning from my bed and satisfaction when, late in the night, I get back to it. I guess every human has to find a life purpose that makes them happy and I'm not aware if everyone does so, but thank God my concerns are far away from whom will win the Champions next year, if X is starting to hang out with Y, or whether Sálvame's - Spanish gossip program - guest's story is believable or not. I wish I could express with words all my feelings but I'm afraid there aren't still words existing that could help me accomplish this. So I guess I'm just left to try it, isn't it?

La noche de San Juan. Esa mágica noche en la que se celebra la llegada del solsticio de verano en las que es tradición encender diversas hogueras para renovar nuestras energías. Cosas místicas a parte, he tenido un par de semanas de lo más raras. Perdí mi adorado BlackBerry! A ver qué pegas me pone ahora mi operadora favorita (nótese la ironía) Movistar para sacarme otro :)

A parte de eso, todo ha ido muy bien. Estoy teniendo unas vacaciones aceptables y muy tranquilas, pasándolas en la playa, tomando el sol y reflexionando, que en el veranito eso viene muy bien. Hoy estuvimos en un buffet chino antes de la hora de las hogueras, pasando el rato y disfrutando de una fría noche en comparación con las que nos han precedido. Se acerca el fin de semana y ya tengo planes más que interesantes, y el lunes voy sin falta a la fiesta de la espuma @ Jungle Bar! Que la anterior no estuvo nada, nada, nada mal...

A ver qué os cuento en mi próxima entrada! :D

San Juan's night (or is it St. John's?). That magical night when we celebrate the arrival of the Summer, where the tradition is to light bonfires to renew our energies. Mistic stuff apart, I've had few really weird weeks. I lost my beloved BlackBerry! Now let's see how many problems my network gives me to get another one hmm...

Besides from that, everything's going fine. I'm having more than acceptable holidays and quite calm, spending time at the beach, sunbathing and thinking about life. Holidays have that effect on me. I spent the evening at a chinese bufett before the bonfire hour, hanging out with some friends and enjoying a cold night in comparison to the few past ones we've had. Weekend is close and I already have plans I'm looking forward to, and Monday's foam party @ Jungle Bar will be something I will definitely attend as the last one was great.

Let's see what I tell you in my next post! :D

Ayer,mientras estaba en mi casa viendo 'Sexo en Nueva York' y apoyando a una amiga en los problemas que nos pueden surgir a cualquiera de nosotros día a día, padeciendo los efectos de mi particular síndrome de Carrie Bradshaw observé, en primera persona, los daños posteriores a una ruptura reciente. Los mensajes destructivos y los altibajos emocionales tan frecuentes que nos dan. Una mezcla de sentimientos que comprende la inseguridad, la rabia, tristeza, nostalgia e incluso miedo. Solemos creer que no saldremos adelante, que no habrá nadie que nos quiera igual o, en el peor de los casos, que jamás nos enamoraremos otra vez. Siempre me he preguntado por qué sufren algunos seres humanos tanto con la pérdida y otros, en cambio, tan poco?

Ya me lo he preguntado antes e incluso hay un post en life is a lol! sobre ello. Las relaciones entre las personas y su efecto sobre nosotros es un tema que llama poderosamente mi atención y es, quizá, el único asunto que siempre me ha generado y posiblemente siempre me generará muchas dudas a lo largo de mi vida.

En una sociedad en la que el egocentrismo y el preocuparnos en exclusivo de nuestra persona parece estar a la orden del día, son las rupturas el nuevo SIDA?

Yesterday, while I was at my house watching 'Sex & the city' and supporting a friend in those daily problems we all can face, suffering from the symptoms of my own Carrie Bradshaw syndrome I observed the damage that occurs after a recent break-up. The destructive messages and the bipolarity we suffer. We tend to think we won't ever be able to get over it, that no one will be able to love us in the same way or, in the worst scenario, that we won't ever fall in love again. I've always wondered why they're human being that suffer so much with losses and others, in exchange, so little or none at all?

I've already asked myself this question several times and there's even a post in life is a lol! about it, though in Spanish. Relationships between people and their effects over us is and maybe has always been the subject I've always had doubts about, and probably it will make me doubt even more through out my life.

In our modern society where worrying only about ourselves is the daily menu, are break-ups the new AIDS?
