Mom asks me to purchase 2 cartons of cigarettes, I leave to the gym and forget my musicplayer/phone and when I come back home my dad rages at me for spending too much money because 1. He just went out and bought 2 cartons of cigarettes while I was out getting 2 cartons of cigarettes and he couldn't contact me to tell me not to buy them, and 2. I purchased an 'expensive' drink ( $0.99 Arizona Green Tea 23fl.oz.). #AngryBogie

After typing that out on Facebook and ready to click 'post' , I realized that things like Facebook usage has an inverse relation to blog usage. I thought about all the many life experiences I've shared on Facebook, even if they're miniscule, that could be a part of what is more important to me, my blog. Facebook can rot and go to hell when it becomes abandoned, I know I wont visit back there. Do you remember these? LiveJournal, Xanga, MySpace, are just some I could name off the top of my head (the relatively popular ones of my time).

So I cut/pasted the Facebook post here. Maybe I'll tend to do that more often.

Career Fair

I was at the career fair for USF last Thursday and I had the opportunity to meet three or four great security companies that I'd like to work for. I've always wanted to do something with computers revolving around low-level code and hardware, and it seems that most Comp Sci or Comp Eng students end up getting Software Engineering jobs that lead to coding large projects, applications, programs that I'm just not as interested in as dealing with the bits/bytes, assembly, sockets, and networks.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to make some applications. But the way I see it, the only apps I'd want to make are smaller, special-purpose applications. Like game-hacks, directx overlays, proxy clients, function hooks, memory hooks, stuff like that.

Well, I met someone from a company called GFI that happens to own VIPRE antivirus and Teamviewer. I did not notice their booth at the career fair until I was walking by and heard one of the rep's say, "Reverse Engineering." I turned around and a smile cracked on my face and I began to notice how awesome this years career fair is. I ended up talking to em and getting excited and later the rep finds me and says, "Hey, our head of AV is right there and he's looking for you, he's speaking to your friend." So I went over there and listened in, He explained how the AV department works and what they do, all interesting stuff... But then he points to the Ruby on my resume and I'm shitting bricks cause I don't really know a whole lot about running Ruby as a means to communicate with a server. He's like, "Oh, you know Rails (Ruby on Rails), we use this for our back-end." I quickly reply with, "Oh, that's for web-development. You know..." I told him instead of Ruby on Rails I'd like to work on new technology. I asked him if he knew what nodejs is and he replied with, "No."

Sadly, most companies aren't going to be using new frontier tech that hasn't had the time to mature. But this is very exciting to me because it uses javascript to deal with the back-end. Javascript is now THE standard scripting language for HTML5 and CSS3. I'm standing behind js and nodejs. It's being backed by Google and some other big companies. Exciting times.

Derp Herp. Anyway. From fear of not knowing what I'm doing. I downloaded Ruby, went to their generic /docs/ folder and opened bookofruby.pdf and have gone through the first 115 pages out of 400 something. I'm not happy with Ruby, but it's interesting learning its minute syntax differences and structure opposed to Javascript, Java, and C++. I'd much rather be applying this time towards nodejs, reverse engineering (assembly, or even Python. -_-

Herp Derp again. Life is great. Operating Systems projects aren't.

Hello hello hello,

I've been on some crazy shit lately. Let recap on what has been going on as far as I remember.

My school life. Prior to December, it's all been school. I've been working on school projects, homework assignments, and reading materials. I spent hours and hours inside of my school's lab for Computer Engineers, sometimes coming home when the sun came up around 6am. It's all fun and hard, eating unhealthy, drinking energy drinks, staying up 2 nights a week on a somewhat regular basis to meet deadlines. It was not the hardest semester at school, but it made me realize how much effort is involved when you sign up for this. Some students were in that lab 130 hours a week, while I at most spent 50 hours in there. Those crazy classes I have to anticipate X_X .

My gaming life. I was playing nothing but League of Legends and Counter-Strike:Source. School ended December 5th and I was playing LoL, all the way until Dec. 26th were I seem to have logged in for my last LoL game and have yet to play a game of League of Legends let alone open the game-client. My friends still play League of Legends, they played Star Wars: The Old Republic (I did not), and now (January) they are playing World of Warcraft. I agreed to play wow if Patryk can get up and go to the gym. So, the only game I've really touched recently has been CS:S.

Woop de doo. Lets get into my social life. I had no social life apart from my lab partners and class mates and Skype sessions to aid in study or speak with the regular USF crew of people. I went out very few times with either Matt, Senja, or Patryk either to eat, hangout, or go to an event or club. I did this mostly, when I had a few days break from in between the bursts of work I've been doing for classes. Otherwise I'd barricade myself in my room and not answer the annoying Senja calls.

My social life as school ended became a bit better, I started hanging out a bit more and going out to clubs to listen to good music and bust a move on the dance floor. The fact that I have had no regulations on myself, meaning, no set schedules really messed me up during my winter break. My bed time shifted from 2am->4am->6am->8am and was stuck around there for a while. I'd go to sleep when the sun came up and wake up around 4pm or 7pm when the sun was going down, only to be awake all night. I like the night because it's very productive, you're alone and nobody bothers you, you can focus on whatever it is you want to do. But doing this doesn't help you fit in socially, it really doesn't agree with my health either because I want to be going to the gym. (I'll speak about gym soon.)

New School Semester. School started January 9th and I was still on this terrible vampire schedule. I stil am actually, Yesterday I woke up at 1:24am and spent my entire time awake, holding out until 2:30am the next day and waking up around 8:30am... 1 hour later im writing this blog lol. So, I'm working on my schedule haaard. I've signed up for 4 classes this Spring 2012 semester. Cryptography and Info. Security, Algorithms, Operating Systems, and Javascript Web Development. I look forward to learning in all of these classes and have already been taking correct measures in making sure that I do not lag behind in the beginning of the semester like most people. I do my work. Derp. These classes are going to be tough though. I hope a little time-management and brain games will help me get through them.

GYM LIFE. Okay, one thing I am very excited about and love a lot is the gym. Always been a nutrition nerd, just dont have anything to prove for it really. Prior to December 5th, I've been doing pretty bad for myself. Once I got sick about 2 months before December, I was put out of the gym. I had a terrible cough that kept me up at night, sinus infection, and my right ear was clogged and I couldn't hear a single thing. I was on day/night medication for over 2 weeks straight. I was in NO position to go to the gym. I went on the first signs of getting sick and it destroyed me the following week. The sickness put me out of the gym for 1 month, and because of the sickness I was eating unhealthy. I couldn't focus on eating healthy food and staying up for school exams and focus on what I need to get done with my diet. I started eating candy, chips, and drinking energy drinks. I never do that regularly. This was probably the unhealthiest 2 months of the last couple years of my life, I was not even a fraction this unhealthy when I went on vacation to Poland over the summer. Anyway, the sickness and school pressures put me out of the gym cycle once gain (I get kicked off my gym cycle like 2 times a year on a regular basis now, and have to pick up again.)

Gym Life; After my sickness and classes, December 5th. I started going back to the gym, the same old familiar feelings. Soreness, Soreness, Soreness... Soreness. After taking the extended 2 month break prior to December and getting back, my muscles were taking a beating. I put the same intensity I did prior to quitting the gym and suffered the soreness again. It took me 1 month of what I call 'gym-prep', going to the gym and doing exercises that are designed to assimilate you back into the gym. After a month and 1 week I began to go into my strength training schedule. I found my maxes somewhere in the first week of January, and I rewrote my custom program and have been following it ever since. I find my new maxes somewhere next week. Lets hope I improved. I don't know what more to say other than that I'm happy with the gym right now.

So, I don't know if I missed anything. Social, Gaming, Internet, Gym, School. That's pretty much it. I can mention that during December I found a website called TurnTable.fm or tt.fm ; I spent some time on there and love the concept. You play music on dj booths with friends listening. You can socialize by chatting with others and sharing music. It's very fun and a great way to find new interesting music or expand your music interests. I don't know if I'll keep up with this blog, just felt like giving my future self a rundown on whats going on these past few months.

I can say another thing. I've been trying to get a job at SCC in Clearwater, but the manager that I'm speaking to is going through some sticky situations in his personal life and I'm trying to give him as much space possible after hearing from a family friend about what happened. I hope everything goes well with him, and that he contacts me as soon as he is ready. Thank You. :)

Raytheon Interviewee Rant

So I get out of my meeting and I'm talking to some guy who is about to get into an interview with Raytheon and he's questioning me about the interview process. He ends up telling me that he doesn't care about the job, he doesn't care... i didn't want to hear that, that is the incorrect thing to say. His justification for him not caring was that he was doing it, "Just for the experience."
You're wasting Raytheon's time, this is the reason they have weed-out questions, accelerated don't-care-about-you low-quality interviews. You complicate their jobs, they want genuine people.

I just logged onto my PC and went straight to YouTube to view some of my subscriptions and noticed this neat feature that makes me wish I didn't misplace my red/blue filter 3D glasses. Apparently YouTube has implemented a new button on the bottom of the video player than switched between 3D and 2D. I'll look up exactly how they do it for my own coding knowledge in the future, but thought it would be cool to let people know just in case the only ones affected by this change are videos uploaded after the implementation. Maybe those prior do not have this mode processed, maybe they do, or maybe it is not two different videos and the effect is processed on-the-fly in real-time.

Whatever, the technical details don't matter to me right now 'cause I've got schoolwork to do.

Stress Relief

I've made up my mind... this phone, that was once a great expensive electronic... will be no more after I receive my iPhone. The BB has a lot of problems when I take it out to a club, if it gets hydrated, the keys will not function properly. I am the only one who can use my trackball because of an issue on it since the ball broke off and I needed to order a replacement. This phone is a replacement sent by Asurion, the insurance company that replaced the original blackberry that died on me, meaning that it sucks because its a refurbished piece of shit that came in the box when I got it. This phone serves no purpose for me, but may be useful to a friend or as an emergency backup phone. So, after I get my iPhone and I decide this phone needs to be put out of its misery, I will record a video with the iPhone of this bastard blackberry being destroyed... and then, to generate hits... I'll put the video up on crackberry.com, a site where i was once a loyal member (not for long).

So, I kicked myself into gear earlier last week and studied for a Computer Logic exam. The exam was 'easy' and I hope I got an A on it, not so good for my friend though... he struggled on the exam due to choosing a lesser than optimal way of minimizing a canonical sum-of-products switching function with 'don't cares'. This resulted in wasting a lot of time on the exam and causing him to probably take a partial credit hit on 3/5 of his problems. This blows, because we studied together and we were supposed to ace this together, but he goes and fucks it up. Bad Juju n' all.

After my exam, I was free... was is the key term. I took the free time to play League of Legends and go out last night with Senja, something I haven't done in a few weeks of blocking myself from that girl because I had better things to do.

So, I ended up sleeping for 5 hours after going out and my when I woke up at 5:30am, my friends were online. I stayed up with them and then they ended up going to sleep, which I tried to do but failed. I got back up, took 400mg of caffeine and got to work. Since then I've completed 2 lecture videos in my ethical hacking course, played with a lot of vulnerability scanners and network enumerators, and learned a thing or two about Windows domains.

I think I did more in between, but I cant remember what... Oh yeah, I re-designed the blog to this layout."

I'd like to let my future self know, that I pre-ordered the Iphone 4s and I'm excited to finally after all these fuckin years to experience this material joy I had of owning an apple product since buying my first iPod 5th gen, and then this iTouch (selling since I'm getting iPhone). I can't wait to smash this piece of shit blackberry into oblivion... right after I check how much it goes for on craigslist. LOL

Derp, going back into 6th gear (that's right, i've got 6th gears, step it up) and grabbing the USF Bull by the horns and telling that bitch, "what it is."

I was sick for about 2 weeks, it really sucked. Acute Sinusitis maybe? Anyway, I was forced to take an exam during the sickness, thought I scored a D... ended up with a C. Life pwns. (A 'C' grade in an engineering class is still impressive yaknow. #protip)

Fourth Week of School

I'm not putting too much attention towards my blog, nor do I feel bad about it. I just need to timeline some things for the future.

Upcoming is the fourth week of classes at USF and I'm doing good so far. Probably because there have not been any exams yet. Tomorrow I have my first exam. I am taking a test in my Ethical Hacking class, and later in the week an Electronic Materials exam.

This week decides how I will feel towards my classes for the remainder of the year and how much effort I have to put into the Electronic Materials class to get a higher grade. (School is always an ongoing effort struggle, but I like to quantize variables.
