In todays economy there are a lot of people wanting to know “How To Get A Job” and I’m happy to tell you that I’ve developed the perfect solution. However, my definition of JOB might not be what you think it is. This article is all about getting your dream job that you create for yourself. It’s true, if you focus on exactly what you want, you can create the exact job that you want and live your life with purpose and passion!

First let me tell you what your JOB is…Your JOB is your Journey Of Being. And what I mean by that is simply that we are all on this earth for a reason. We are human BEINGS but all too often we get caught up in our lives and wind up as human DOINGS. We’re so busy DOING what we think we need to do that we put aside who we want to BE. So this is written for those who want to start living life to the fullest and create your own JOB.

A journey of being is who you see yourself as being in your life. It’s what you want. It’s a clear sense of exactly who you want to BE.

You see Michael Phelps knew that he wanted to BE the greatest swimmer in the world. And just like having a real JOB he knew there would be work to do. But the work that is done with this job is the work that rewards you in your life and makes you feel alive! your journey of being work is what you DO to each and every day in order to HAVE the exact life you want. So how do you create your dream JOB?

It’s quite simple really. You start by focusing on exactly what you want in your life. By writing down the exact feelings you want to have you are literally creating the thoughts that start everything that happens in your life. Remember, Thoughts create feelings, which create actions which create results. So right now, take a minute and write down the 10 feelings you would want to feel in your ideal JOB. Seriously, do it!

Okay, now take those 10 feelings and write them in this type of format. “I feel …….” So if your feelings were happy, excited, motivated etc. you would write “I feel happy” or “I feel motivated” etc.

Next, write down exactly what you want to BE in your ideal JOB. You’ll start this statement with the words “I am…..” So for me, I would write “I am the most life changing speaker in the world, I effect peoples lives in positive ways and inspire them to live a life that exceeds their dreams” The reason you say the affirmation this way is because your mind does not know the difference between something the actually happens and something that is vividly imagined. So when Michael Phelps would make an “I am….” affirmation he would visualize that with such clarity that he could literally feel the water on his body, envision his fingers touching the wall in record time and even the weight of the gold medal as it hung around his neck.

Next, you’ll take the “I am statement” and turn it into to specific goal. You’ll start this statement with “I will……” and expand on the “I am” statement with clarity of how you will accomplish that goal. So I would write “I will effect peoples lives in positive ways and inspire them to live a life that exceeds their dreams by sharing my knowledge through videos, audios, public speaking events and personal coaching!”

Next, you’ll create specific measurable tasks that will get you into momentum toward achieving your dream JOB! You’ll take these steps and make them a to do item. And once you have achieved that step, you’ll create another step that gets you one step closer to your goal.

Now, you can use this same method for accomplishing anything you want in life and BEING whoever you want to be. If you want to create a JOB that you love, you need to create it in your mind first.

Snow fall is one of the most beautiful sites that this world offers us. It reminds us of the beauty of the world around us because it covers over the dirt and the trash and makes it seem like it never existed in the first place. It’s magical and it can teach us a lot about how we can reprogram outselves to cover over the dirt and trash of our past and create a fresh start toward our future.

Think of each of your thoughts as a single snow flake. By itself, it would be hardly noticable. One single thought in the world of thoughts that happens in our heads every day. It’s pretty insignificant in terms of the amount of thoughts we have every day. And a single snow flake can would be covered by dirt quicker than we could notice its beauty on the ground.

But let’s take in a step further and imagine that 60 snow flakes were to fall in front of us. We would probably notice and even have a new feeling. We might even make a mention to someone like “Oh Look It’s Snowing!” And yet still if the only flakes that fell were those same 60, it would pass and move out of our lives and soon be forgotten and replaced by the dirt and trash of the world around us.

So let’s think about this in the terms of our thoughts. If we took 60 seconds to focus on the positive things in our lives and use positive words in our heads to remind us of the beauty and possibility of our lives, it would create a positive feeling in our lives and we may even mention to someone “Wow i feel good after taking a minute to focus on the good things in my life” and yet, if that were all we did it would certainly help, but the positive thoughts would be replaced by the dirt and trash of the world around us. 1 minute in 1 day can make a difference, but if that’s all you ever did, it would not impact your life.

However let’s look at the compounding effect of our thoughts over time. 60 seconds per day = 21,900 seconds of posiitve focused thoughts in 1 year. So let’s take this a step further and see how we can make a significant difference in your life, just like the consistent snow fall can make the world look like a new magical land of beauty.

Imagine for a minute, an hour of consistent snow fall, but think again that it’s not something that happens all at once, it’s a single flake, on top of another single flake and over time it covers what’s beneath it. If you were to compound one positive thought each second for just 1 hour per day, you would think 1,314,000 positive thoughts per year! But lets be realistic about the fact that you’re probably not going to find a quiet spot and focus on your positive thoughts for a whole hour each day. Yet, do you think that you could focus 10 minutes in the morning when you first wake up and the last 10 minutes before you go to sleep at night to focus on nothing but the positive things that you want to happen in your life, or the things you are grateful for, or the positive thoughts in your life?

That’s a great way to start to see significant changes in your life with regards to how you see your life and your future. But much like ANYTHING else we do in our lives, it not going to make a big impact if you only do it once in your life and then forget about it. But if you were to do this consistently for a month, it would make a major impact in your mindset and your ability to continue to have these positive thoughts throughout the day.

That’s what your goal would be in making these small changes. By doing them consistently over time, you’re creating new habits that begin to become something that you do without even realizing it any more. By focusing on your positive thoughts, you’re creating the habit of doing it on a regular basis without even realizing it any more. It’s the same with anything we do consistenty over time, both good and bad habits are formed over time.

So how do you start? Use positive affirmations and read them every day when you wake up and each night before you lay down to go to sleep. SMILE when you wake up, and SMILE when you lay down to go to sleep. Say something positive to yourself when you wake up and before you lay down to go to sleep. These are just a few of the ways you can begin to make small lasting changes in your mindset that will cover over the dirt and trash of your life with beauty and a fresh start like the new fallen snow. Do it consistently over time and you’ll see that the dirt and trash are no longer noticed and the fresh beauty of your life is all you’ll notice.

While using Goal Trax recently someone asked the question “What do I do when I have my goal created, my steps listed, my motivation clearly defined and then I find myself ‘Stopped’ and not moving forward with my goal?”

This is a very common issues that many people face when they want to achieve goals. Thankfully, there is a simple solution. Donald Trump said in his book How To Get Rich “The Most Important Thing You Can Have Is Momentum” Now he was talking about business, but the same applies for anything we want to achieve in life.

Think back to when you were creating the goal in the first place. You were motivated, which is one piece of the puzzle. However, motivation starts with a thought. Here is the cycle.

Thoughts – We start EVERYTHING we do with a thought. No matter if it’s a common task or a major goal. Everything we do begins with our thoughts.

Feelings – Our thoughts, create feelings we have. So if the thought is “I can do this” then we take an action that moves us forward. However, that works the same way if our thoughts create a negative feeling too….

Actions – Our feelings produce actions. Actions can be GO actions or STOP actions. Go actions are actions that build momentum, even if that momentum is slight. Stop actions are negative actions that slow momentum.

Results – Actions create results. You either take an action that creates a result that takes you closer to your goal or you take an action that creates a result that moves you away from your goal.

Let’s look at this in a visual way so you can see what I mean. Imagine a large locomotive train. One of those old coal fueled, huge engine pulled style trains that are overwhelmingly massive in size. That’s the way I want you to envision your goals. Now if your goal is HUGE then you have to envision that the train is filled with a lot seperate cars (each piece of the train). The more cars that are attached (the bigger the goal) the longer it will take to build momentum. So think about a massive line of train cars. What happens when the train begins to take off? There is an obvious attempt to get in motion, but all that really happens is a huge puff of smoke, some noise and perhaps the engine moves just slightly forward. Next puff, more slight movement, next puff, more slight movement, and so on and so on. It takes a long time for the train to get into any type of motion. It might even seem like the train is never going to get moving.

But let’s imagine what happens when that same engine is attached to only one car. So the visual idea is that each step is a car. If the engine starts, then the first puff will create immediate, obvious movement. The next puff will create motion and before long, the train is moving along the track with ease. Now if that train were to suddenly get another car attached to it, it may feel the weight, but the momentum keeps it going and before long it’s chugging along and has MORE momentum behind it because it’s actually carrying more weight! Add another car while it’s in momentum and the momentum is even greater because of the movement the train has already gained.

Many times, people look at their goals as a whole, even though they have broken them down into what they think are “Measurable and Achievable” steps. So let’s think about goals as if they were a train. Since goal setting is supposed to motivate us, we should be setting goals that we can achieve quickly. Reaching a large goal is nothing more than achieving a series of smaller goals along the way.

So let’s think about this from the popular show “Hoarders” Most times, the people who want to get their house clean look at the whole picture. They see the goal as “Get my house clean” and that goal is like a HUGE locomotive being started with hundreds of cars. At first, the movement is slight, and since we are human and not machines without emotion, the thought could quickly turn from “I can do this” which would create a feeling of hope and inspiration, and action of starting to clean and a result of getting started on the larger task of cleaning the house. This is good. However, since we are constantly dealing with the voice in our head that we battle with at each moment, if we step back and look at the house again…..we may find ourselves with the thought of “I’m never going to get this done” which creates a feeling of hopelessness and our action might be to sit back down on the couch and create the result of ‘everything goes back to the way it was’…..

But let’s look at this again, using the same train metaphore. What if instead of the goal being “Clean the house” the same person set a goal to “Clean the dishes in the sink and get them put away.” Now you might say to yourself, if cleaning the house was a goal “But doing the dishes was one of my steps.” You would be absolutely right. If your goal is clean the house and your carrying the weight of that goal and working on getting into momentum, then the weight of the goal is going to seem overwhelming at first. Remember, steps of a goal are like a freight car. If you have a huge goal, you’re carrying a lot of weight.

So instead of someone in that situation setting a goal to “Clean the house” and carry the heavy burden of that goal, even though in the beginning of the goal they may have positive thoughts, the weight of the goal can quickly turn those thoughts around. That person would be better off setting a goal to “Get the dishes cleaned and put away.” Over burdening yourself with to many tasks typically creates a sort of paralysis for many people.

So instead of setting BIG goals, with a lot of steps, people would be better off setting ACHIEVABLE goals and achieving the goal faster. Then setting another achievable goal and accomplishing that goal, all while setting steps to achieve the smaller goals just the same way you would set steps to achieve a bigger goal. And remember it’s important to REWARD yourself for your achievements. So if you do achieve goals, celebrate them!

Now, one final word about goals. And one final use of the train metaphore. Some times, one engine is not enough to pull a train. There simply just isn’t enough power in a single engine so they have to add more engines to get the train to move. So if your goal is to big, you simply just can’t do it on your own. So at this point, you are left with only 2 option. Add more engines (ask for help) or break the goal down into more achievable goals and remove some weight from the larger, overwhelming goal.

In conclusion, it’s better to build momentum with smaller goals and stay in momentum by setting other goals along the way. Allow yourself to achieve success. Celebrate that success and enjoy the feeling. Remember, in order to live a great life, all you need to do is learn how to live a great day and then do it over and over again. So learn to fully accomplish a goal, and then do it over and over again.

Here is an email that I received from someone who had recently read my book “The A, B, C’s Of Success.” He was struggling with how to achieve successful status of ROCK STAR. He certainly had the passion and the desire and I appreciated him reaching out for the re-assurance he apparently was looking for.

“Hello Sir

I am Ashvin living in New Delhi India. I am currently working as a manager in a company which comes exclusively under the telecom sector. It has been 4 years since my student days I have been into music and started it as a part time hobby but later it began my obsession and became my serious hobby and ultimately i wanted to convert it into my full time profession and after reading your book I would like to correct my lines by saying I will make it a full time proffession………He went on to tell me some more about himself and his desire to “Liberate” people with his music and the struggles he was facing along the way with bands breaking up and other difficulties………..I hope this mail reaches to you and you are able to read this mail and give some of your inputs out of your precious time. Eagerly waiting for your response

Thanking You

Regard

Ashvin ”

I can tell you that there is no better feeling than knowing that you are making a difference in people’s lives. So I figured I would share my response with you in case you too are having struggles with something that you want to achieve in life.

Hi Ashvin!

Thanks for reaching out. I think one of the bravest things you can do in life is show vulnerability. You’re obviously passionate about your singing and guitar playing and I can certainly understand the frustrations of things not happening quickly. I struggled for years to make any money and get a successful business off the ground. But I also have a lot of passion for what I do, and that is something that you MUST never lose.

When something is your passion, you do it because it’s part of who you are. The problem typically comes in because we as humans want to turn that passion into money somehow, and when that doesn’t happen fast enough, we begin to doubt our skills. I’ve taken a ride on that “Emotional Rollercoaster” many times and it can be scary and exciting.

I always tell my kids, when you have a problem, don’t focus on the problem, focus on the solution. If you look and evaluate what you want to achieve, and break it down into smaller managable goals that don’t seem so overwhelming then you’ll begin to see what you need to do. For instance.

Your hope is to be someone who is liberating people with your music. But what you’ll need to do is really define what that hope is and turn it into a goal. What does liberating people with your music mean in terms of the vision you have for it? How many people do you want at your concerts? Do you need a full band? Is your style of music the right fit for what you want to accomplish?

Ask yourself some specific questions and answer them honestly for yourself. Break each element of the larger goal into small, measurable steps and keep track of those steps. Keeping track will keep you motivated because you’ll see progress. Most times people look at the goal and get overwhelmed thinking they’ll never be able to do it. But when you break it down into specific measurable tasks, you can begin to see things more clearly. If your goal was to eat an elephant, the whole task would seem overwhelming. But you could do it….one bite at a time. (It’s a metaphore, I don’t expect you to eat an elephant to practice your goal setting )

The other element is to understand that YOU define who you are. If you have any doubt that you are a successful guitarist who is liberating people with his music, you will struggle. The fact is YOU ARE someone who is liberating people with his music. You need to wake up each day and tell yourself something like “I am the greatest guitarist who has ever lived” or “When I sing and play guitar, people are overwhelmed by my talents” or some other affirmations that will keep your mind focused on your talents and abilities.

I’ll finish with this. Everything, always takes longer than we expect it to take. However, we can shorten that time by setting time limits for ourselves. For example, you can say, “I will have a band that is booked 2 times per week by July 1st” and then break that down into what it would take to make that happen. Our brains are funny little machines. Much like a computer, they are powerful, but without specific instructions of what we want it to do, it sits there awaiting a command. You must be the person who controls your brain and your life. I know that might sound weird, but many people sit and wait for something to happen. It doesn’t sound to me like you are that type of person. So continue to go forward. FIND A MENTOR! And remember Action, Belief, Consistency and Time are the only 4 factors that determine success. Yes, talent has something to do with it, but there are many people with far less talent than the best that go much farther in life because of their belief in themselves.

Quote for you:

“What is opportunity, and when does it knock? It never knocks. You can wait a whole lifetime, listening, hoping, and you will hear no knocking. None at all. You are opportunity, and you must knock on the door leading to your destiny. You prepare yourself to recognize opportunity, to pursue and seize opportunity as you develop the strength of your personality, and build a self-image with which you are able to live with your self-respect alive and growing.” - Maxwell Maltz

Be well my friend. Stay in contact with me and never be shy about reaching out.

Developing a healthy body image is one of the most important things you can do to maintain a healthy mindset. It all starts from how you think of yourself, and when it comes down to it, you must accept yourself for the person that you are.

It can surely be tough though. You’re constantly being thrown images of people who are almost impossibly thin and this leads you to set unattainable goals for yourself. Since you can’t reach these impossible goals, you can get easily discouraged. But there is good news!

Changing Your Self Image

The good news is that, with the proper drive, you can change the way you think about yourself. Accept your current situation and set goals for yourself that you can actually attain. This sets you up for success and a healthy, enthusiastic attitude as well.

Consider these steps on your path to change:

Accept yourself. Accept yourself for who you are and know that it is good. If you look in the mirror and hear the voice inside your head saying negative things about you, change the subject to something positive. You’re a beautiful being and you should love yourself.

Avoid comparing yourself to others. It’s so easy to get caught up in comparing yourself to your friends and the models in the magazines. Everyone is different! We all have our own strengths and weaknesses, so make the most of what you’ve got!

Accept others. Learning to accept others helps you more easily accept yourself. Pass out sincere compliments to others. If you’re too harsh on others you tend to be too harsh on yourself as well.

Make an attainable goal. If you do fall into an overweight or obese category, make an attainable weight loss goal for yourself. Focus on areas that you can improve, like portion size or exercise routines. Just don’t judge yourself or expect yourself to lose weight too fast.

Some people will just never be tiny no matter how much weight they lose; this goes back to that most important concept of accepting yourself.

Ask for help. If you’re struggling with body image issues and the other tips don’t seem to be helping, it’s a good idea to seek out a support system. Confide your true feelings to family and friends and let them help you reach your goals. You can even speak with counselors. You shouldn’t feel embarrassed because they’re trained to deal with these very issues.

Adopting a Positive Mindset

One thing you can do to help develop a positive body image is master the art of reading and writing affirmations each day and in your times of need. Affirmations are short positive statements that you can repeat when necessary or write out for yourself to post in areas where you’ll see them several times every day.

Focus on your positive attributes. If you have beautiful eyes, post yourself a reminder about your beautiful eyes near the bathroom mirror. You might be struggling with weight loss goals, but you still have your beautiful eyes. When you hold onto a positive feeling, it gives you a drive and a glimmer of hope. This positive attitude will make it easier for you to reach your goals!

It’s natural to strive for solving your problems on your own. Sometimes pride holds you back from asking for help, or it could be embarrassment or fear. Either way, you’ll soon realize that you can solve your problems quicker and more efficiently by joining or developing a support group.

The Benefits Of Support Groups

Support groups have many benefits. Just the venting factor alone can be enough to make support groups worth it. Even if a solution may not exist, just knowing there are others enduring your situation can help you feel at ease.

A support group can provide many other added benefits:

Confidence. Support groups can restore your confidence. With confidence and drive, there will be nothing in between you and your ultimate goals.

Emotional Release. You may often forget the true importance of an emotional release. When everything is all bottled up inside of you, you can get agitated and your emotions will manifest themselves in unhealthy ways. Support groups give you the important emotional releases that can open you up to a breakthrough.

Information. Knowledge is power. Support groups give you an amazingly concentrated way of sharing a wealth of knowledge. When you listen to a speaker or counselor, you’re only getting one perspective. When you listen to the members of a support group, you can share real experiences through many different perspectives.

Relationships. Being a member of a support group will not only help you find success in the topic of the group, but with general relationships as well. Support groups can be thought of as little samplings of the world at large. When you frequently listen and relate to others, you’ll become a better communicator.

How To Develop A Strong Support Group

Developing your own support group is always an option. In fact, all you need is a couple of other people that would like to be a part of the same type of group as yourself.

You simply need to determine what methods of communication will work best for the group. If it’s best to meet face to face, inquire about times and potential venues to hold your discussion sessions.

Nowadays, online support groups and forums are also an option. This is helpful because you’ll always be able to refer back to the helpful advice and personal reflections from others in the forum. There is also no set time that everyone has to meet. You can simply post or chat with the group when it’s convenient for you.

How To Find A Good Support Group

Nowadays with all the social networks, it’s getting easier to get involved with others going through similar experiences. You can search Google for relevant forums or websites, and you can also take a look at Facebook groups and MeetUp.com, too.

If you’re involved with any type of one-on-one counseling, you can also inquire if there are any group sessions in your local area.

Often times your insurance company will cover support group sessions – at least partially. If this is the case, get on the phone with someone from your insurance company and see if they can match you up with a good group.

A good support group will strengthen you and help you build your confidence. Find a group that you can identify with and get active, today!

Personal Power And Self Esteem Can Increase Any Time!

If you’ve lost your job, there’s no denying that it can be a devastating ordeal. It can be a real burden, especially when your whole family depended on that job and the income it provided.

However, you can find the strength to recover from a tragic job loss. Sometimes it’s difficult to find the silver lining, but it’s always there waiting to be discovered.

Focusing On Your Self-Esteem

Your thoughts are very powerful. Sometimes you may think that you don’t have control over your thoughts, but you always do. Of course you should give yourself time to recover from the initial shock of a job loss, but it’s how you choose to react afterwards that makes all the difference.

When you focus on developing positive self-esteem, you’ll be able to think clearly and confidently so you can figure out what your next steps are going to be. You may even use this new opportunity to finally follow your dream job.

Have these tips in mind to keep your self-esteem intact:

Give yourself time to grieve. Sometimes you don’t think of job loss as being the same as other types of loss, but the shock can be the same and you should allow yourself some time to go through the standard stages of grief. You’ll eventually recover from the shock, but give yourself an appropriate amount of time to absorb the situation.

Look for a support system. You might feel especially alone after losing your job. Your initial reaction might be to run and hide and keep your emotions inside. Be sure to fight this feeling and, instead, rely on your support system. Remember: it’s okay to ask for help, that’s what your support network is for!

Keep up your motivation. After the shock has worn off, it’s important to strive for a certain level of enthusiasm and motivation to find another job. You need to believe in yourself and trust that things will turn out for the best. Remember that your new job might be even better than your last one!

Looking for a new job. When you’re ready to start the search, consider all of your options. You may want to consider whether or not you really enjoyed the field you were in before. Consider your job loss as a new opportunity. Maybe you’d like to try bringing your life into a different direction.

Keep an eye on your finances. When you deal with job loss, you must also deal with the financial realities. Determine your current financial situation and how long you have until you must return to work. Maybe you have to find a job right away, or perhaps you have enough savings to consider other career options. Whatever the case may be, you should know what the financial implications mean to you and your family.

New Life: New Opportunities

After dealing with job loss, the best thing you can do is to think of it as a new opportunity in life. Sure, you didn’t choose to embark on this path at this particular time, but it’s important to roll with the punches.

Don’t be afraid to take risks. Also, don’t be afraid to adopt the attitude that everything happens for a reason. Bad things happen in life, but good things happen too. Stay strong for yourself and your family and your self-esteem will prevail.

Present Moment Living

No matter where I want to go or what I want to be, I know that my life is the journey there. Life happens in the here and now – not yesterday or tomorrow – but today. So I live every moment of today to its fullest.

I gratefully acknowledge my past, as that is what made me what I am today. But I am careful not to live in the past. “Let bygones be bygones,” as they say.

If I made a mistake yesterday, today I can make amends, learn from it, and move forward. If I did something exceptionally well yesterday, today I can strive to do even better.

Regarding the future, yes, I have goals to work toward and plans for tomorrow, but that is yet to come. What I do today helps determine if I ever reach those goals. So I focus on my tasks for today and feel accomplishment in their achievement.

Every moment of every day brings me new opportunities, and I take advantage of each one of them. I cherish the smile on my child’s face and the love in my spouse’s eyes. When it rains, I feel the refreshment of the earth. When the sun shines, I take pleasure in its warmth.

Each moment brings a joy of its very own and I seek to discover and relish it. My day is made up of hundreds of these special moments, giving me a life of total fulfillment.

Today, I choose to enjoy each and every moment, taking in its pleasures with all my senses.

Negativity always finds a way to creep up in your life from time to time. It’s when negativity builds up too much or shows up too often that you have an obstacle to overcome.

A negative attitude can hold you back from truly living your life. However, you don’t need to feel stuck because you can bring positive thoughts back into your life!

How Negativity Can Hold You Back

Negativity can hold you back in a number of ways. Have you heard the saying: “If you think you can’t, you’re right”? It’s true! Negative thoughts like this really do sabotage your efforts.

The good news is that you can gain control over how you think. When you’re expressing complaints and negativity all the time, it not only affects you, but it also affects the people around you. Negativity, itself, can be the reason why you create roadblocks that don’t really exist! So it’s time to choose the positive (and, yes, it is a choice!).

Manifesting A Positive Attitude

When you adopt a positive attitude, you open yourself up to the wonderful world of possibilities. When positive energy is in the air, you’ll be able to transform your negative feelings and maybe even bring others out of their negativity clouds.

Believe it or not, positive thinking is very powerful. It’s the driving force that steers your life into the direction of your dreams. Remember, your thoughts affect how you feel, and how you feel affects what you do, so if you can change your thoughts, you can change your outcome.

How To Develop A Positive Attitude

How can you change your attitude? It’s easier than you think.

Follow these tips to develop a positive attitude:

Visualize. When the negative thoughts come crawling into your mind, transform them with positive images. Visualize something that you find pleasing, peaceful, or exciting. Remember what your ultimate goals are and imagine what it feels like to achieve them.

Write it down. Keeping a journal has many positive effects. It helps you vent your frustrations, organize your life, and reflect on your innermost thoughts and feelings. Instead of focusing on the bad, use your journal to chronicle the things that have gone well in your life lately.

Relax. Negative feelings are bound to arise when you’re in a stressful state. It’s important to take time out of each day for yourself. This means that you need to adopt a relaxation method that works for you. Perhaps you can take a bath, go to church, attend a yoga class, or meditate. When you’re relaxed, a peaceful and positive mindset will likely overtake you.

Read and write affirmations. Grab a book with positive affirmations in it, or better yet, write your own. Affirmations are a powerful way to bring positive thoughts into your present state of well being. Affirmations are short statements in the present tense that remind you of positive attributes and goals in your life. Here’s an example: “I am strong and competent.”

Live for the moment. Live your life for the moment and let go of everything else going on in your life. Negative feelings can easily overwhelm you if you’re consumed by past failures or the fear of the future. When you concentrate on the present, your life becomes more peaceful and positive.

In the end, go easy on yourself. You don’t need to be your own worst critic, instead, try being your biggest advocate! Just concentrate on your well being and you will develop a more positive attitude.

Overcoming Obstacles Of Time By Delegating

The only way to make sure things get done right is to do it yourself, right? Well, there comes a time when you can only do so much in one day.

Learning to delegate allows you to grow as a person. When you delegate effectively, you can improve your life all around because you’re no longer a one-man band that’s trying to entertain the world on your own!

Delegating At Work

You might find it tough to delegate at work, especially if you feel like no one can get the job done as well as you. Rest assured, though, that others can do a quality job, but only if you give them the opportunity. They may not do it in exactly the same way as you would have, and that’s okay! At some point you need to let go of perfection and allow others to help.

If you have staff available at work, or the ability to outsource work to other companies and individuals, then you have the makings of a great team that can help you grow and succeed.

Consider delegating these tasks:

Anything that involves data entry.

Repetitive tasks such as photo copying or filing.

Fact finding missions and data collection.

Writing.

Design work.

It’s up to you to decide which functions can be fulfilled by someone else. Once you’ve chosen a person capable of the task, it’s time to consider some detailed plans.

Always ensure that your instructions are clear. Provide details and examples of the end result that you expect and don’t focus so much on the steps they need to use in order to get there. If it’s technical work, you can create short video tutorials using free software called Jing, or provide templates and checklists.

If needed, you can check up on the people doing your tasks. Ask how things are going or tell them that you expect progress reports every day or week. This will help you to maintain a handle on whether or not things are on track.

In the end, you must maintain trust that everything will turn out right. While everything may not be exactly as you expected, delegation can still save you lots of time, stress, and headaches.

Delegating At Home

You can apply your delegation skills to your home life as well. You certainly don’t need to come off as a dictator, but you can have family meetings in order to get a better idea about everyone’s expectations.

Write out a list of all the home tasks that need to be completed. Decide a fair distribution of who will do what and maintain some clear deadlines.

Don’t forget that your children can complete some of the simpler tasks as a part of a chore schedule. Consider some type of reward, especially if you expect the little ones to be active participants. It’s a great motivator to reward each other every so often. If everyone has done a great job, consider a family dinner out to relax and let loose.

Evaluate The Results

Whether you’re involved with a plan for work or home delegation, it’s important to evaluate the results. If you’re especially upset about how something has turned out, think about what you can do differently next time in order for things to go according to plan.

Remember to maintain trust and awareness about what is going on around you. Delegation can be a full time job in itself, but when done right it can provide an improved lifestyle for you and everyone around you.

Present Moment Thinking And The Power Of Now

I am free from yesterday’s mistakes or tomorrow’s responsibilities. I am in the now.

Yesterday was in the past and tomorrow may never come. What I have is today, now, the present moment, and I make the most of each and every one of them.

If I made a mistake yesterday, I know I cannot undo it. I avoid wasting my time worrying or fretting about it. Today, I can use what I learned from it to move forward toward my goals. Yesterday it may have been a mistake, but today, it is new knowledge.

I make goals for the future and plan for tomorrow, but today is what matters. Today’s tasks are the only ones I concern myself with, and I focus on this day’s accomplishments. This makes each day a productive one and keeps me on track.

Living in the moment gives me the most focus when I am working on a task and the most pleasure when I’m not.

The joy of life is found in the present moment and I allow myself to receive all of it. Yes, I take time to stop and smell the roses because the roses are what fill that moment when I am near them. I take in their beauty with all my senses and enjoy it to its fullest.

I strive to let the beauty of the moment envelop me in its caress. I choose the joy!

Today, I plan to let myself discover the power of each moment and experience the benefits of truly living in the here and now.

It’s always a good idea to tweak and reevaluate your money management skills. The world of money can be a huge task to manage which can get overwhelming at times. However, with clear goals and careful calculations, you can adopt a manageable system that works well for you.

Follow these tips to strengthen your money management skills:

Tweak your tracking system. You probably already track your spending to some degree, but it would be helpful to see what it’s like when you track all of your spending. Try doing this for at least a week. When you see all of your expenses written out, you’ll be able to clearly see what’s necessary and what’s not. You can then decide to spend your money differently based on your current spending habits.

Consider your savings. 401Ks and other tax-advantaged retirement plans are a good option for saving money long-term. On the other side, it’s important to have money in a regular savings account that you can access regularly for surprise expenses, like car or home repairs.

Determine your needs and wants. If cutting back drastically is a necessity to you at this time, look at your monthly expenses in detail. Make a two-column list and divide your expenses into needs and wants, then eliminate as many items from the “wants” category.

Set realistic goals. It’s important to be realistic when setting out new money management goals for yourself. You shouldn’t do anything too drastic too quickly. It’s always best to take on changes in stages and ease into new situations. You’ll avoid shock this way.

Give yourself an allowance. If you tell yourself you can’t spend any money, you’ll get frustrated and you’ll be more likely to revert back to old habits. Instead, give yourself a monthly allowance. Tell yourself that you can spend $50 to $100 each month on the things you enjoy. You’ll have some fun and save money at the same time.

When You Want To Change

The trick to strengthening your money management skills lies in your drive to change. People usually run into trouble when they want to save money but are unwilling to live a different lifestyle.

Realize that you can shift your lifestyle without it being a burden. When you start slow and make small changes, you allow yourself the time and opportunity to create positive new habits.

For example, you can start with your grocery bill. Decide if there are certain expensive foods that you can skip. Tell yourself that you can treat yourself to them whenever they go on sale. This way you’ll still indulge yourself every now and then, but you’ll be saving money.

Long Term Goals

It’s always a good idea to keep your eyes on your long-term goals. Where do you want to be next year, in 5 years, and in 10 years? Make an attainable action plan with your finances that will get you there.

When you keep your goals in mind, you maintain a drive that also enables you to enjoy the journey. These strategies will help you bolster your money management skills so you can soon enjoy your life without the financial stress!

Do you feel like all you do is prepare for future joyful times? Perhaps you hear sayings like “live each day as if it were your last” but you have trouble truly taking it to heart.

Experiencing joyful times can take some extra effort on your part. The truth is, it’s a choice. We live in busier and busier times and must remember to schedule time to slow down and enjoy life in the present.

Everyone has a unique definition of what joy means for them. Even on your busiest of days, you should strive to pause and remember what is important in your life, then live your life according to your own priorities.

The Joy Of Everyday Things

We have the ability to find joy right here in the lives we lead now. While it’s fun to go out experiencing new and exciting things, it’s always best to start where we are. There are things to appreciate and opportunities for joy in everyday situations.

Consider these things on your quest for joy and fulfillment:

Spend quality time with family. While it’s always a good idea to have meal times together, you can find much joy in just spending some quality time with your loved ones at home. Some people might enjoy family game night, while others might prefer to talk and share what’s happening in their life.

Relax with an activity you enjoy. Do you skip out on yourself in a quest to do one more chore before bed? Choose your own relaxing activity and make it a priority. Play a computer game, read a book, or take a bath.

Grab some fresh air. Nothing brings you into the moment like some fresh air and nature. In nature, you can escape your inner world for a few moments and realize that you’re a small part of something large and great. Allow feelings of well-being and joy to wash over you and cleanse your soul.

Make an effort to be stress-free. The biggest threats to a joyful life are the stresses and anxiety that arise in day-to-day life. Don’t allow these feelings to build up or they can take away from your opportunities for joy. Deal with stressful situations as they come up so that they don’t turn into long-term stressful scenarios.

Trying New Activities

Once you’ve mastered the art of finding joy around you in your everyday life, it’s time to see how you can add to it by trying new activities. You don’t need to make major changes, but trying new things and escaping your comfort zone from time to time can refresh and rejuvenate you.

Here are some tips for trying new activities:

Start with your hometown. Look at the different opportunities for fun around where you live. Chances are there are places that you’ve always been meaning to try out but haven’t yet.

If you’re an adventurous person, seek a new activity every now and then that excites you. You could try rock climbing, horseback riding, canoeing, or even traveling to new and exciting destinations.

If you have a family, look for new family-friendly opportunities. You can even set a date to do activities together with your neighbors or other close families.

There are endless possibilities when it comes to opening yourself up to new opportunities. Stay creative and brainstorm a large list. Then start enjoying them all, even if it’s only one at a time.

Even if you’ve landed your dream job, it’s possible to fall into a pattern where you find your work far from enjoyable.

When you’re dissatisfied with your work, it can be a huge chore to get up in the morning and you may even feel hopeless.

However, the good news is that you can change certain aspects of how you approach your work in order to find satisfaction in the job you’ve already got.

Follow these tips to increase your satisfaction at work:

Keep open dialogues. It’s truly important to keep open dialogues with your colleagues and superiors. Voice your concerns calmly, without sounding blunt and unappreciative. If no one knows that you’re dissatisfied, nothing will ever be done to fix the problem!

Reward yourself. You can increase your own personal satisfaction by deciding on certain rewards that you can give yourself once you’ve completed a task successfully. For example, if you’ve worked hard all week, allow yourself a fun Friday night. Don’t wait for anyone else to reward you!

Handling stress. Start looking at how you handle stress. Unfortunately, there’s a certain amount of stress associated with every career. Are you actively searching for ways to vent your stress or are you keeping it bottled up inside? Make sure you have proper releases for work stress as well as home stress.

Avoid getting stuck in a rut. It’s difficult when you feel like you aren’t making steps in the right direction. You might feel like everyday is the same and that you aren’t getting to explore your full potential. Think about what your goals are at your current job and ask yourself what actions you’re taking in order to get there. Reformulate your action plan if necessary, and then take steps to move you forward again toward your goals.

Think positive thoughts. Your life is what you make of it. When you adopt a positive mindset, things will more often go your way. When you think negatively, of course your job will continue to be unsatisfying! Remain optimistic and you’ll find the drive needed to keep working toward positive goals.

Make a change. If you find that you’re truly in the wrong line of work, it’s time to plan out a change for the better. As a last resort, if you truly feel that there’s nothing you can do to improve your current situation, then make an attainable plan for change. You may want the same position at another company, or an entire career change all together, whatever it is, find out what you need to do, and then do it!

Right Mindset And Action

In the end, as long as you strive for a positive mindset and take action toward your goals, good things will happen for you. When people are stuck, they tend to freeze and feel helpless. If this happens, it can turn into a vicious cycle that you might believe is unbreakable. But it isn’t!

Take charge of your thoughts to break the negativity and take small steps each day toward a better life. Making a change overnight is overwhelming, but when you take small steps, change happens easily. Before you know it, you’ll be at least a little more satisfied and fulfilled at work.

Use Motivational Quotes To Reprogram Your Mind!

You might already be familiar with the power of affirmations. They’re short, positive statements that you can read, repeat to yourself, or listen to from recordings. With affirmations, you can reprogram your subconscious mind to help you think more positively about yourself.

An example of an affirmation is “I am calm and relaxed.” It doesn’t matter what your current state actually is, you can still achieve this state by repeating and believing the affirmation. Your subconscious mind will pick up on the statement and bring forth the new feelings.

Affirmations Can Change Your Life

When it comes to the world of affirmations, the only requirement is to approach it with an open mind. After that, you simply allow the statements to wash over you and you can change your life all by yourself.

It’s may seem difficult at first, but the key is to get the affirmation into your subconscious mind. This is easiest when you’re just waking up or when you’re drifting off to sleep. These are moments when your conscious mind is less likely to interfere.

If you use the “I am calm and relaxed” example without an open mind, of course your conscious mind will say “Hey! I’m not calm and relaxed.” Don’t get frustrated if your conscious mind likes to jump in a lot; eventually the messages will make it to your subconscious mind.

How Affirmations Work

If you pay close attention to how your mind really works, you’d be surprised at how often your mind slips into negativity about yourself and other situations. Using affirmations will allow you to communicate with your subconscious mind and change those thoughts.

Affirmations have the power to recode your mind in the same manner that a computer program can be written. You actively spend time saying and concentrating on these short positive statements and, eventually, your subconscious mind picks up on them.

It may take some time and practice for affirmations to work for you. Some people report that they see results from their efforts right away, while others find that it takes longer for them to reach the subconscious.

How To Use Affirmations

There are a few ways that you can choose to use your affirmations. First, concentrate on the things in your life that you want to change. Try to keep it simple by focusing on one at a time.

Common topics are usually health, wealth and relationships. You might use affirmations such as “I feel energized” or “I enjoy my job.” Write a few different ones that pertain to the same subject.

Then choose a time to repeat the sayings to yourself every day. You can even make a recording of yourself repeating the affirmations with soothing music in the background. This is especially helpful for using affirmations in the morning and at night when you have a stronger link to your subconscious.

Tips for writing your own affirmations:

Write them in the present tense, because that’s the only way to improve your life in the present moment.

Be short and concise to keep things simple.

Read and write your affirmations when you’re calm and away from distractions.

Remember to stay positive.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat

Make sure you keep up with your affirmations. If you don’t see results right away, try sticking with it for a while longer. Before you know it, you’ll realize that these short simple sentences have improved your outlook, one thought at a time!

All actions start as mere thoughts. When you set out to reach your goals, negative thinking pretty much ends your journey right there. You end up losing your drive, which you need in order to get anything done.

Thinking optimistically can be the difference between easily reaching success and falling short. But how can you start thinking optimistically? There are certain actions you can take that will help you shift your core beliefs.

Try these steps in order to set yourself up for success with optimism:

Expect the best. You should know your desired outcome for your ultimate goals and believe that the best case scenario can prevail. You may tend to drift into the “what if” thoughts from time to time, but you also have the power to fight them. If you catch yourself thinking this way, immediately shift your focus onto something positive.

Take immediate action. Reaching your ultimate goals can be intimidating. There might be many things holding you back, including the fear of failure. But when you take immediate action, you leave no time for pessimistic thoughts to arise. You’ll plough forward in a positive direction.

Seek the silver lining. No doubt there will be situations that present challenges to you. You must believe that everything happens for a reason and that there’s a silver lining somewhere in this challenge. Do your best to learn from the situation and then actively seek the best direction forward.

Write down your thoughts. You can certainly benefit from a brain dump every now and then. Write down your thoughts, including your fears, in order to vent. Take note of your positive thoughts as well. By writing everything down, you’ll gain clarity about your goals.

Worrying About Challenges

Don’t waste your time worrying about the challenges at hand or ahead. Once you realize that worrying serves no purpose, you’ll be better able to let them go. Chances are things will work out for the best. You need to believe this in order to achieve an optimistic attitude.

Realism will tell you that there’s the possibility of failure. While that may be true, you shouldn’t focus on it. Worrying about failure will not make it any easier to endure if it happens, and it can even cause you to attract that failure to you!

Worrying only hurts you in the present moment and keeps you from taking the positive action that can bring your goals to fruition.

Challenges Are Normal

When you realize that challenges are normal, they may be a tad easier to deal with. The fact is you’re faced with challenges of varying degrees everyday.

You already know that life throws challenges your way, but you must believe that you can overcome these challenges! Then, you’ll be able to conquer every obstacle with an optimistic attitude.

Discover What You Can Learn

There’s a lesson to be learned in each challenge. Realizing the lessons you’re presented with will allow you to grow as a person and learn from both your successes and failures. As you learn, you build confidence and confidence brings optimism.

Evaluate the outcome of a few different challenges your life has presented you. When you had an optimistic attitude, how did things turn out? When you had a pessimistic attitude, how did things turn out? Oftentimes your attitude alone can make a significant difference.

And remember, your attitude is your choice!

It’s easy to get drawn into a negative relationship. It may have started out seemingly perfect, but things seemed to change overnight. It may be time to decide whether or not the positive attributes outweigh the negative ones when it comes to your relationship choices.

If you’re unhappy and emotionally drained after a break up, you might not be feeling too optimistic about throwing yourself back out there. However, opening yourself up to new opportunities is the only way you’re going to reach the happiness you seek.

The best thing you can do is to educate yourself well enough to know what to look for and what to avoid. It’s not a fail-proof plan, but by following certain strategies, you can increase your chances of a lasting relationship.

Try taking these actions to avoid negative relationships:

Avoid falling back on the wrong person. If you’re feeling particularly lonely, you may feel the urge to fall back on someone that’s not right for you. Deep down you know that this person is not “the one” and yet you come crawling back anyway trying to convince yourself that maybe the person can change. Chances are, they won’t.

Spend time getting to know your partner. Focus on getting to know your partner first before getting too serious in the relationship. Try to have some of the heavy conversations near the beginning of the relationship. This way if you hit major snags you can either decide to work through it or move on quickly.

Learn your partner’s history. Are there disturbing events in his or her past? It’s clearly best to avoid people who have a history of violence or intense addiction. If they do and you choose to proceed with the relationship, be extra cautious and set the ground rules from the beginning.

Avoid manipulative people. You might not realize it at first, but if you find that you’re being manipulated often, it can prove to be a serious drain on your relationship. If your partner is controlling and always has a selfish motive for their actions, it isn’t the best relationship to be in. Recognize these red flags when you see them and get out before you get too attached.

Make a checklist. Take some time to make a list of the qualities you’d like to see in a partner. Include qualities you like as well as qualities that you dislike. This checklist will help you determine whether the relationship is right for you. Here’s a tip: avoid writing down superficial characteristics such as looks. First and foremost, you must be attracted to his or her personality because the superficial things can and will change as you age.

Relationships can be difficult; it’s just a reality of human nature. The fact that many relationships end shouldn’t have any impact on your hope for the future. There are plenty of people out there that will be a good match, so it’s okay to avoid relationships that sap your soul.

Remember: you do have a choice! Focus on finding the right partner for you and then take action to make it the positive relationship you’ve always dreamed of!

When your children are young, they depend on you for their every need. Sometimes it’s difficult for you to sit back and watch them develop their own independence. It might be tough but when you allow your child to make his or her own mistakes and learn life lessons early, they’ll grow into happy and healthy adults.

The best thing you can do is to find a balance because you don’t want to allow your child too much independence too early. You want to be able to watch your child develop independence from the sidelines so you can step in when needed.

Consider these tips as you nudge your child towards an independent life:

Let them make choices. While you don’t want your children making all the decisions, it’s important to allow them to make certain choices from time to time. Even as young toddlers you can give them opportunities to choose and develop independence.

Allow your children their own meal choices.

Let them pick some family activities.

Let them choose toys and pursue their own hobbies.

Allow them to dress themselves as long as their choices are appropriate.

Work on social skills. A large part of independence is learning how to effectively communicate. Improper communication skills can hold your child back. Children of all ages can work on developing better social skills.

Reinforce the idea of sharing with young children.

Teach your children appropriate ways to make friends.

Teach them how to be polite and to use good manners.

Life lessons. It’s always a good idea to work on life lessons. This can be done early as well. Your children don’t need you to treat them as if you’ll always be there to take care of their every need. While you should always be there for them emotionally, teach them that you won’t solve every problem for them.

Assign age appropriate chores to your children.

Provide them with rewards for a job well done.

Teach your children time management and problem solving skills.

Young Children

When you create a good learning environment for your children right from the beginning, they’ll start to develop independence on their own. They’ll learn to crawl to you and walk to you.

It’s important to give them opportunities to learn on their own early on. If they attend daycare, they’ll work on these skills during the day while you’re at work. If not, it might be a good idea to attend a local playgroup so your child can get to know others their age.

During these opportunities, let them do as they please while you watch from the sidelines. Let them play and only step in when needed. If your child begins to fight with another child over a toy, step in momentarily to reinforce the idea of sharing.

Whenever your child shows positive social skills, remember it together and reward them for their good behavior.

Older Children

Older children present a different set of parenting requirements. You might be scared as they face life’s tough decisions, but in the end you need to trust that they’ll make the right choices. After all, you can’t make decisions for them, but you’ll probably realize that your kids are smarter than you think!

In these circumstances, all you can do is work to keep the lines of communication open. As your children are growing up, have the tough conversations with them and let them know that you can be relied upon for your love and support.

Trust your children, but monitor them closely if you do have suspicions of negative activities. You shouldn’t encroach on their personal space, but there are still things you can do, such as keep track of their online activities and ask them where they’re going, with whom, and when they’ll be back. Set rules and curfews to help them make good choices.

Follow these tips and you’ll be rewarded with joy and pride as your children grow into capable, confident adults.
