In the age of the cell phone good old fashioned watches are being replaced. I know personally that I am guilty of this and have no idea where my own watches are. but truthfully a nice watch is a great accessory to complete any outfit and are great for those times that you go somewhere were cell phones are not welcome. For example court appointments and some jobs. Mostly because jobs are not big on people playing with their cell phones during work. That is probably why I am a blogger and work for myself at home.

I really think that there are some nice Seiko watches out there for such occasions where one might need to dress up their wrist. I also think that watches should be used a little more because a lot of kids are having trouble telling time on analog clocks. Luckily I think that they maybe my kids can tell time on a regular wall clock. I think. It sounds like I may need to test them to find out. Hopefully they pass, they have done tons of homework with clocks on them in the past so I am thinking that they will. If not I will have to teach them.

Do any of you still wear watches in the age of the cell phone?

This year like many years I have made it my goal to be more healthy with exercise and eating better. And just as I was about to throw all that out of the window like many who make these resolutions when we discovered a family members health problems that we were suspicious of but had yet to confirm. Now being healthy and eating right is the number one priority for our family. And because I want to teach my kids to eat right so that hopefully we can deter these same problems in them. Well for my family I am cooking more healthy meals and practicing strict portion control and making healthy choices for them. I trying to live by this thought as well:

For myself however while the healthy eating has worked wonderfully and I feel great I need a bit more. And by more I mean exercise. So I have looked for ways to get a workout in without being bored and doing the same stuff everyday. So when I received the chance to check out GaiamTV I jumped on it. GaiamTV features amazing videos on yoga and fitness and all kinds of other inspirational videos.

When trying out GaiamTV I really enjoyed the yoga videos most of all. I had wanted to try yoga for quite a while and between the kids and their schedules and my school schedule it is really hard to go to a class. With the videos online though it makes it really easy to do a yoga workout anytime and on your own schedule. And most of all it was easy to find videos to fit my level by using the filters built in on the website. I thought that that was a brilliant way for them to have the site set up so that others like myself who had not really done any yoga or much working out in a while could easily find where to start instead of getting lost.

And while GaiamTV is a great source of inspiration and videos it is also inexpensive because it is only $9.95 a month with no contract which if far less expensive than gym memberships and classes.

Try it out:

Be sure to sign up for a 10 day free trial of GaiamTV to try the amazing videos they offer.

The Simple Face Care is the U.K.’s number one line of skin care that is now available in the U.S. Simple Face Care is is free from dyes, perfumes and irritants which makes it awesome for people with sensitive skin who have to be careful about what beauty products they try.

The three products I tried are:

Moisturizing Facial Wash – 100% soap free with added vitamins including Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E to nourish skin.

Cleansing Facial Wipes – Cleanses, refreshes and removes waterproof mascara with added Pro-Vitamin B5.

Vital Vitamin Night Cream – Restores skins balance and is formulated with Pro-Vitamin B5 and Vitamin E.

What I thought about them:

Moisturizing Facial Wash – I loved how clean it made my skin feel and I think the extra vitamins really help my skin be more smooth and nourished.

Cleansing Facial Wipes- These were my absolute favorite. I love the easy of using a wipe to wipe away make up and how well they clean the face. Especially eye areas when I would make a mistake with eyeliner or mascara.

Vital Vitamin Night Cream – I have needed to use a moisturizer more often and this worked well for me because it didn’t leave my face feeling wet or sticky but gave me a shine that I really liked.

The Simple Skin Care line has even more great products and from the ones I tried I would definitely say that they are great skin care products for ones beauty regimen.

Where to buy:

You can pick up the Simple Skin Care Line at your local H-E-B store and now available is a coupon for $2.00 off any new Simple Face Care item.

I am the proud owner of three cats all with very fun with distinct personalities. But besides having fun with my cats I have to care for them and make sure that they are fed and have fresh litter. I do believe that the litter is the hardest part of being a cat owner to have to clean up and change and take care of in general. We recently had the opportunity to try out Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter. I can honestly say that it was a great litter to use and kept our litter boxes fresh with even three cats running around using them.

The Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter kept our home home fresh all day with its lasting odor control. It creates rock solid clumps to make cleaning litter boxes easy. So easy in fact that I can get the boys to empty the litter box without making a mess. Which is important because if there isn’t anything that is as tedious to clean as litter boxes it is the litter that spills.

Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Clumping Cat Litter is perfect for owners of multiple cats and at all national Target and Walmart stores. And since we have multiple litter box in various areas it kept the litter boxes fresh and scent free for when we were not able to get them scooped every single day. For more information on Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Cat Litter please visit here.

My cats were seemed please with their litter boxes and the freshness of Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Cat Litter has sold me on how well it will work for us to continue to use in the future. Seriously though I am just thankful for the freshness coming from Arm & Hammer Ultra Last Cat Litter.

I also love that every time you buy a pair of TOMS they donate a pair to a child in need. Of course that makes them even more awesome.

I also picked up new pairs of shoes for both of the boys and was shocked to see that my 10 year old sons feet are now bigger than my own with my 9 year old just a size younger than myself.

Which is pretty awesome! Well cable providers have teamed up with Diversity On Demand to provide support for cultures all over. I like it because there are so many things that we could all learn about other cultures and this puts it right at our fingertips.

They are kicking off Diversity on Demand this month with Black History Month with all different channels of On Demand programming!

Black History Month programming for Diversity On Demand includes:

Milestones in Black History: A look at the history of the struggles and strife, the tragedies and the triumphs of African-Americans in the U.S., including programming on the Civil Rights era. Everyone in the family can get in on the learning with documentaries like “The Black List” examining some of the reasons for Black History Month. And kids young and old can take a trip back in time understanding the importance of historical events with “Seizing Justice: The Greensboro 4,” “On the Shoulders of Giants” and “Birds of a Feather: Tuskegee Airmen.”

Profiles in Courage: The biographies of influential African-Americans come to life with dramatic profiles and stories of acclaimed leaders and others who are not so well known—but perhaps should be, such as that of Lena Baker in “Hope & Redemption: The Lena Baker Story.”

Dramas: Programs and movies like “Independence Day” showcasing award-worthy performances from notable African-American actors such as Will Smith. You can also explore and share real-life family relationship dramas like “Braxton Family Values.”

Hearth & Home: Savor shows like “Down Home with the Neelys” that provide a look at food and other aspects of modern African-American society.

Of the People: Program content that exemplifies the contributions made by multicultural talent, shows written by, starring, directed or produced by African-Americans, like Morgan Freeman in “Million Dollar Baby.”

Powerful Portrayals: Storytelling has always been an important part of African-American culture. Drama fans can enjoy Black cinema offerings, which chronicle the challenges of African-American protagonists in a variety of ways.

That’s Entertainment: Laugh along with comedy specials such as “Chris Rock: Bigger and Blacker,” while romantic comedies warm the heart. If music is your thing, there are shows and movies such as “Ray,” the remarkable story of one of America’s true musical geniuses, Ray Charles, that look into the past, present music-making of African-American artists.

Please be sure to Like the Diversity On Demand Facebook page for all kinds of great information and activities throughout the month.

If you are looking for a inexpensive way to spruce up your home and make it look nice then I suggest looking no further than the Dollar General Home Sale Event. They have a 50% off coupon to get great savings on home items. And so many of them look really great I actually have a set of lamps in my bedroom that I have had for a while now that actually came from a local Dollar General store.

Also you should be sure to hurry quick because the coupon is only good until 2/19! This sale includes home decor items, housewares, kitchen tools, bed pillows, sheets and rugs as well. So many great things to save money on.

I think these pillows here would make a great deal for the %50 off coupon. We are always looking for a way to be more comfortable while we lounge around on the couch and these would be great and they would look great as well.

And in addition to all of the great home items you can save on Dollar General has so many things that are great to stop for a quick trip and grab for other basic home necessities.

We moved into our house a little over 8 years ago just days after the builders finished building it. And guess what? We have done absolutely nothing with our backyard other than mow it and a dog pen for our dogs when they go out. Aren’t they sweet?

I think it is time for us to put up some composite fencing to give them room in the whole backyard to play and run. Believe me they would use it too. There also tons of other things I would love to do like save the money to put a pool in. I also would love to put in composite decking so that we could have a place to have a BBQ get together and a place where I could sit outside and work while the boys play outside.

The possibilities would be endless because we could put in a garden as well since we are trying to eat more healthy and that would save us money that we could use to make the yard look more awesome.

I am most certainly daydreaming about that deck with composite railing. The early morning coffee with the dogs playing in the yard while I check emails on my laptop would be so nice and peaceful. I could work my blog, my writing and have a relaxed atmosphere while doing it. Imagine the inspiration that would come from a peaceful yard with a garden, a deck, and kids and dogs running and playing. I guess there is one benefit in living in nearly the middle of nowhere.

Think my kids would start digging a pool? They would probably tell me that I am crazy even if I suggest that “maybe” they could find treasure. Who am I kidding they would look at me like I was nuts while my youngest built the biggest mud hole known to man. He would try for sure!

Most recently we have had some changes go on in our household where exercise and healthy eating is our goal. And sadly while I wish I could say it was because we wanted to (we do and needed to actually) we are having to make drastic changes because of one of our family members health. That is okay though as a family our goal is to get more healthy overall so that we can get our family member healthy and make ourselves healthier as well.

The Walmart foundation has just announced more than 9.5 million dollars in grants to promote healthy living in families. This grant has been divided to benefit many great nonprofit organizations. In our geographic I could see the benefit of several of the grants to these organizations particularly the grant to the National 4-H Council because we have so many children that participate in the 4-H.

Dr. Ro an award winning health journalist and television personality who after losing her mother to stomach cancer as a child has made it her goal to research and write about breaking bad eating habits. She will be sharing healthy steps that people can take to eat healthy on a budget.

Out of all of the organizations I really like the Share Our Strength nonprofit organization because their goal is to show people how they can eat healthy on a budget. Which really hits close to home for because that is exactly what I am trying to attempt myself currently. Which organization from the Walmart healthy living initiative do you think is best and can benefit more people?
