Republic of Cavite Restaurant

I posted an entry on my personal blog about a free food tasting activity at the Republic of Cavite Restaurant in Trece Martires City.

It happened yesterday, September 5, 2009, I wasn’t able to bring my DSLR since it was raining hard, I shoot the following photos using iPhone.

Aside from serving their regular menu that they serve on a day to day basis, the restaurant also serves as a party venue for weddings and other functions.

We were offered the restaurant’s best-sellers, including the famous Ginataang Tulingan and Kinulot na Page and rice delicacies like Lihim ni Lola & Peche-peche as desserts.

I’m not a food expert, although I’ve tasted a lot of different menu prepared by different caterer (each time I shoot weddings), but I could honestly say that the fish dishes (which I don’t normally see in a wedding reception) was my favorite. With regards to the desserts, I would prefer it to be lighter, I think rice delicacies is quite heavy for a dessert.

Marky + Lot – Wedding at Paco Park

After more than two months since my last wedding shoot, I felt a little rusty. Yesterday, we covered the wedding of Maky and Lot at the Chapel of St. Pancratius inside Paco Park. Reception was held at the Banquet room of the Garden Plaza Hotel, also in Paco, Manila.

You might notice that all photos are in black & white, I just tried a different approach in presenting a wedding, I used different black & white post processing techniques to highlight the drama of the event.

Issue number 24 of Digital Photographer Philippines entitled Black Magic explores the digital black & white world with 20 well-written digital monochrome post processing tips, which is very good for a monochrome addict like me.

Aside from the 20 mono tips, the mag is overloaded with other photography tips.

Brad + Charo – Wedding at Josephine’s Restaurant, Tagaytay City

Yesterday’s shoot was a little unusual, when most couple picked the weekends as the best day to get married, Brad and Charo got married on a Monday, not to mention that it was raining hard.

The exchange of wedding vows happened at the Josephine’s Restaurant in Tagaytay City followed by a dinner/reception at the same venue.

BC + Aiza – Wedding at Good Shepperd Parish Church

After a long break from covering a wedding, I did a wedding photo shoot yesterday, April 25, 2009. It was the wedding of BC and Aiza which was solemnized at the Good Shepperd Parish Church at Doña Manuela Subdivision, Las Piñas City, reception followed at Cecille’s Restaurant also in Las Piñas City.

It seems that the battle for superiority of the point & shoot camera is on. After the release of Canon’s latest addition to the PowerShot G series, the Canon PowerShot G10 & Pansonic’s latest in the LX series, the Lumix LX3, it’s now time for Nikon to unveil the latest on it’s CoolPix series, the Nikon CoolPix P90.

It is a 12.1 megapixel camera that features a composite DSLR body with 3 inch LCD outback, but the biggest surprise for me is it’s zoom capacity. It has a 24x zoom capability which is equivalent to 35mm camera’s 26-624mm.

The camera is expected to be available in March with an estimated price of $399.95.

Sia Turns 18

The daughter of a close family friend, Ma. Sia Espiritu Felizardo celebrated her 18th birthday yesterday February 7, 2009. The debutante’s ball was held at Sophia’s Place at 3-262 Bgy. Panapaan 3, Bacoor, Cavite.
