SCRIPTURE

"Then I heard the Lord asking, "Whom should I send as a messenger to this people? Who will go for us?" I said, "Here I am. Send me." (Isaiah 6:8)

OBSERVATION

his is one of my life verses. God's love is so amazing, almost incomprehensible to me, as He is all-knowing and all-powerful, yet He asks us, He ASKS us, if we are willing to partner with Him. He could so easily just make it happen without our involvement, clean and simple, with none of the drama that surrounds us humans. Instead, He chooses to give us free will, allowing us to have a choice.

Why does He do that? I guess our love for Him means so much more when we choose to give it, rather than Him demand it. And I also love Isaiah's answer to God's question. "Here I am. Send me." I don't count the sacrifice or the consequence. I might not know exactly how I'll do it or what my future holds, but I know who holds my future. He's like the soldier who steps forward to volunteer for the impossible mission. God is looking for those willing to serve Him and take His message to the world. What will our answer be?

APPLICATION

I must continually offer my heart to God, this is a daily sacrifice. This is a constant reminder of who I serve, not man, not money, not the world, but Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father. Am I willing to step out in faith and accept the mission that God has planned for me? Sometimes, He wants our sacrifice, but sometimes all He wants is a willing heart. I want to be able to say, with no hesitation, "Here I am. Send me."

PRAYER

Dear Heavenly Father,

I give You my heart and my soul. I know that Your plans for me are greater than my own. I want to have an unshakable faith and hear Your voice, so that I may follow Your direction for my life. Thank You for all the wonderful blessings You give to me and my family.

Adirondack Regatta

On Saturday, August 8th, 2009, there will be a regatta on Lake George with classes for 3 kayak classes, including unlimited and OC1. There is also a class for a two person stock canoe and war canoe.

The race will start at Ti beach on Lake George, and head south to Anthony's Nose. Most classes will do 2 laps for 8 miles.

Live By Choice, Not Chance

Scripture
"But it came about that in the twenty-third year of King Jehoash the priests had not repaired the damages of the house. Then King Jehoash called for Jehoiada the priest, and for the other priests and said to them, "Why do you not repair the damages of the house? Now therefore take no ore money from your acquaintances, but paid it for the damages of the house." (2 Kings 12:6-7)

Observation
The priests were given specific instructions to repair the damages to the house of the Lord "wherever any damage may be found." (2 Kings 12:5). Yet, twenty-three years had passed and no a single hole was patched, nor were there any repairs performed to the house. What were the priests doing for twenty-three years? What was it that so preoccupied their time that it took so long? They were leaders, but they failed to lead. They were in positions of leadership, but without accomplishing their responsibilities, they failed in their roles.

Application
Our lives can be lived the same as the priests. Whether it applies to our marriages and families, or ministry, are we accomplishing what we are responsible to do? We may find ourselves cast in the role of being a father or mother, but are we doing what responsible fathers and mothers do for their families? We may have stood at the altar of marriage as a husband and wife, but are we fulfilling our duties of faithfulness, love and support to one another, or simply floating along the currents of life.

Whatever role we play, to fulfill our responsibilities, there are certain principles we must learn to live by:

Live by Choice, Not Chance;

Live Intentionally, not apathetically;

Focused, not distracted;

Each day comes with a choice as to how we will live out that day. Whether we set goals for the day, "to do" or checklists, there must be a means by which we can assess our progress for the day. And each day then becomes a stepping-stone along life's journey and provides intentionality in the way which we live, to keep us focused, not distracted, involved, not apathetic.

There is just one life that I get to live, for my wife, for my family, for the Lord and I must choose to make each day worth living. It will start with the choices I make, what I choose to accomplish. Life is too precious to allow twenty-three years to pass by without any progress being made. I choose to live by choice, not by chance. Each day I will set out 5 things that I need to accomplish that I might be faithful to what the Lord has given me.

Prayer
Thank you, Jesus, for the gift of a new day. I don't want to squander Your precious gift, but to steward my time today. Enlighten the eyes of my heart that I might see what You would want me to accomplish today, for my family, my marriage, for the ministry, then give me the wisdom, discernment and courage to finish Your assignment, not tomorrow, but TODAY.

In co-operation with OCUK, The UK’s Premier Outrigger Canoe club, PRTP is proud to present Outrigger Canoe racing for the first time:

Long Distance Race
Course – 2 laps of a 5 mile course from West Pier to Brighton Marina and back.
Registration – Saturday, July 5th between 10.30am and 11.00am
Race Briefing – 11.00am
Race Start – 11.30am
Open to OC1, OC2, OC6

OC1 Sprint Race
Course – 250m out and back
Registration – Sunday July 6th between 11.00am and 11.30am
Race Briefing - 11.30am
Racing Starts – 12.00am
Open to OC1s only


OCUK will also, for a small donation to the PRTP charity pot, be offering to the public the opportunity to try the sport of Outrigger paddling. Participants will be given the chance to paddle in an OC6 between 3-5pm Saturday and 2-4pm Sunday. You may well get a little wet, so be prepared with at least a change of clothes. Floatation vests will be provided.
