Poorhouse is about moving into an apartment that is basically falling apart, and how we’ve tried to make the best of it.

Here are the lyrics:

When it all comes down
I’ll still be around
Hand-in-hand we’ll stand
In the door of the poorhouse

Wish on a star
Slam that PBR
All the frills are out
When you’re living in the poorhouse

Why bother crying?
Just gotta laugh
No harm in trying
Zero plus zero, you do the math

Welcome baby to the poorhouse
What holds up these walls?
When the water gets in
We’ll bail it out
Still be holding you up
When it falls

Smiles don’t pay the bills
Tears don’t pay the rent
What to do for thrills
When the money’s been a long time spent

You’re stuck with me
Not worth a dime
We’ll have a hell of a time
While we’re living in the poorhouse

You’re working so hard
To take us to easy street
Maybe it’s not in the cards
But this thing we got
It sure is sweet

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuugh. So sick today. However, it provided the opportunity for doing two new things. First, sinus rinse. Frightening, drowning sensation, but outcome was good if a little messy. Likewise, this new song we are working on, which we feel is coming along nicely even though it’s missing some stuff and is a little rough. It was written with the movie Toys on TV in the background, which was also a little messy and rough, but mostly good in our minds even though it starred Robin Williams at likely his most coked-up phase of his stardom. It might also explain the toy piano you’ll hear. We also liked Get Smoochy. Don’t judge, it makes you look ugly.

I’m sorry, I’ve taken a lot of cold medicine today. It’s the drugs talking. You know I didn’t mean to hurt you, baby. It won’t ever happen again, I promise. Let’s make up and forget this ever happened.

Anyway, new song in progress. Tell us what you think.

Oh, you know what might be fun? Tell us what this song should be about. Yeah. Do that.

Well hello there. We got some stuff for you.

The project files for Ballad of Blood Eye & Sparkles are available for free download for all you music nerds out there that want to mess around with MIDI and the raw audio to create something new with what we’ve done. All the raw vocal tracks are in the package, as well as the Logic Studio file with settings intact, and a Propellerheads Reason file with the synthesizer instrument racks we have put together.

Please note that these raw files use the Propellerheads Reason Refill Jason McGerr Sessions. If you do not have this refill you have two options:

1. Get it here: http://www.propellerheads.se/products/refills/mcgerr/
2. Turn off the “Live Drums” buss and use only the Redrum track (it only uses factory library samples that come with Reason).

Have fun and thanks for downloading!

All files in this package are ©2009 Like the Desert, Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike 3.0 Unported (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/3.0/).
