New Hui Fen, only 17, helped Singapore score our first gold medal in the girls’ singles event on the first day of the bowling competition. The event took place at the Orchid Country Club.

For her efforts, Hui Fen will receive a cash reward of $4,000, offered by the Singapore Bowling Federation and Orchid Bowl for every gold medal won by the country’s keglers.

OLLO’s The Kube sucks

Well, I just bought it and in my attempt to start charging its battery for use tomorrow, I discovered no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get the cable to connect to the player properly.

Called OLLO’s number which the kind lady at 7-11 gave me just before my purchase;

“If you encounter any problems, do not come back to us. Call this number.”

It was as if she was already expecting the Kube to fail me. Or am I simply thinking too much?

Nobody picked up the phone and I realized it’s already after office hours, let’s see how OLLO can help me out the next day.

Addendum: Design fault. Spoke to this nice lady through the phone and confirmed with my colleague. The cable will be exceptionally difficult to insert the very first time. I guess that’s what to be expected with its price tag.

You know, I wonder did the designer of the product actually uses his own product on a daily basis; there’s no freaking HOLD button! With the buttons almost as big as the device itself, walking around listening to the player, I actually had to hold on to it to make sure I don’t accidentally hit the On/Off, Next Track buttons.

Also, the shuffle function doesn’t seem to be working for me, another call to OLLO is probably warranted.

This being a local product makes me kinda depressed.

That’s just about it in a nutshell. Fast-paced, mindless action from start to finish. And you’d wonder how come the ST reviewers gave it 0.5/5 stars.

Besides the usual spider-man abilities you’d come to expect, consuming enemies and shapeshifting into them. Way more fun than it sounds.

Michael Jackson, 1958-2009

On the sad morning of June 25, 2009 Michael Jackson was discovered collapsed at his rental home in Los Angeles. 911 emergency services responded promptly at 12:21 pm Pacific time arriving at 12:30 pm to find Michael unconscious and not breathing. He was rushed to the UCLA Medical Center and after a brief slip into a coma Michael was pronounced dead at 2:26pm; the cause reported as cardiac arrest. The Los Angeles Police Department has opened an investigation and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday, June 26, 2009.

There goes my lifelong dream of seeing Michael Jackson live in concert and by lifelong I mean when he announced his final London tour. (sad face)
