Reading Yahoo’s story on the Diablo 3 launch in Singapore, few things came to mind.

How many people actually bought the game because they’ve played Diablo, Diablo 2 and hence can’t wait to get their hands on Diablo 3 after waiting for its release for years?

How many people actually bought it just because they heard about it from friends and it seems to be one of the hyped up releases as of recent?

The accompanying commentary is fucking hilarious too. To me at least.

Why?? How many hours did you queue just to be the first Clerk? You could have easily pre-ordered them and start playing the moment it’s out, unless you were in it just to be photographed as the first then never mind.

A 60-year-old banker who declined to be named told Yahoo! Singapore that he has been playing games for more than 10 years. “Diablo has nice graphics and many interesting characters. I got a new computer that cost me a couple of thousand dollars just to play Diablo 3. I don’t think there are many others that still play games at my age.”

Well, Diablo 3 is not exactly top of the line in the graphics department. I know you are a rich banker and all but why the hell would you need to spend thousands of dollars just to play the game. No wonder he declined to be name. Pfft!

12-year-old students Darren Loo and Luke Hew said they joined the queue at about 3pm. Both students are avid fans of the game and have played Diablo 1 and 2.

You are 12 years old, you weren’t even born yet when the first Diablo (1996) was released.

You are 12 years old, was playing Diablo II (2000) the first thing you did when you popped out of your dear mother’s womb (Happy mother’s day)?

You are 12 years old, you have no business playing a ESRB M-rated game. And yet parents are always complaining about all the media violence and sex.

You crazy koreans! One should not simply spend $65.90 on a game only to complete it in less than 6 hours.

I haven’t even got my hands on the game yet!

By now, you must have heard/read about the news/commentaries and all the anger/disdain being directed at our dear/abhorred PRC PRs. I just came upon this video and it struck me as a grim reminder of our mortality.

While all the debate on this topic is fascinating, at the end of the day, the act of an irresponsible human has caused the death of 2 innocents. Whether the driver being PRC or not, while not irrelevant as many will want you believe, is not the real issue here.

If you’re as huge a Portal fan (WHEN IS PORTAL 3 COMING OUT?!) like myself, this requires no introduction. Penn State University student Kevin Swanson with his professor’s support just decided to go ahead and build one for his final Advanced Mechatronics project. The video shows it working pretty much how I envision it to and the final version will ideally look exactly like it’s in-game counterpart.

Thankfully it’s only loaded with Nerf darts!

Really? Did you guys actually complained about something so insignificant to the MDA?! I saw the news and was half-expecting a full on girl-on-girl french kissing just to see a quick peck shared between good friends. Pfft.

Irks me to learn that MediaCorp even plans to censor this particular scene with the repeat telecast.

If you have any slight inkling of the Marvel universe (that or Google), it’s pretty obvious. At first glance, my first guess was actually Galactus then it struck me who it was.

Definitely the new villain for The Avengers 2 and judging from the number of people watching the movie, I’m pretty sure plans for the sequel is already underway.

Movie was awesome by the way and not cheesy in any way at all.

After a childhood wish for his teddy bear to come to life comes true, John (played by Wahlberg) have to figure out how to resolve the conflict with his best friend and the girl of his dreams, Lori (played by Kunis). Pretty much sounds like your crude romantic comedy, except with Seth MacFarlane’s Ted.

Candy Siow Pei Shan, a 23 year old waitress, was driving her boyfriend’s car on Feb 12, 2011, lost control of the vehicle at the junction of Bukit Batok East Avenue 3 and Avenue 4, mounted the kerb and hit 70-year-old Tan Son Seng, who was on the pedestrian walkway. Mr Tan was crushed between the car and a traffic light pole, and pronounced dead on the scene.

So get this, a drunk 23 year old woman without a licence, under the influence of alcohol, caused the death of an innocent pedestrian and the judge only sentenced her to 4 months in prison?!

4 MONTHS ONLY? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME?

What is this world coming to? Is this really the precedent they want to be setting for future drunk drivers?

Yeo accidentally bumped the seat in front of him while stretching his legs, which upset the lady who then started yelling at Yeo and his wife. She followed that by shifting her seat up and down repeatedly. On arrival, when Yeo told the lady that they could go and make a police report together if she was not happy over what happened and then this happened.

Well, I had my fair share of in-flight horror stories where everyone gets cranky and more irritable while flying so I totally understand what the Vietnamese lady was doing. Except the scratching, yelling part of course.
