Comic Book Recap: X-O Manowar #5

I was able to purchase an X-O Manowar issue #5 by Robert Venditti, Lee Garbett, Stefano Gaudiano and Moose Baumann, this was from wayback 2012 where Valiant Comics had their relaunched.

This issue features the first appearance of Ninjak at least in the new Valiant Era, because the original appearance of the master tactician ninja was in Bloodshot #7 wayback in the 90s. This is actually the very first time I read X-O Manowar, in the past few months I spent time looking for a particular Comic Book title which I'm gonna sticked with, I was reading Spawn, Batman and I thought about giving Savage Dragon a try and I also collected a lot of books in the past but none of those would satisfied my taste.

Till I found out about this cool guy named Aric of Dacia who came from 402 A.D. He was a warrior who lead the army of Visigoth against the Roman Empire, but he found himself captive and enslaved by an alien race called Vine who came to earth during his time.

In the Vine colony ship where Aric was held captive, he refuses to be cowed, that is why he orchestrated a revolt and was able to overtake the temple where the Vine kept their precious relic Shanhara which is also their most powerful weapon called the X-O Manowar Armor, Aric fused with the weapon and became the first and only human or Vine to have ever survived the fusion, with the powerful armor in his possesion, Aric was able to wipe out the Vine colony and as he returns to earth, he finds that 1600 years had passed since he was held captive, all his friend, family, wife and the Roman empire was gone and he was alone in an advanced world he is not familiar with.

But his battle is ain't over because the Vine aliens have been living secretly along with humans and Aric remains their target and their mission, retrieve their priced possesion Shanhara the X-O Manowar armor.

Going back to issue #5, it's obvious that the Vine disguised themselves as humans and have built a secret organization and they hired Ninjak as an assassin whose mission is to take down X-O Manowar and retrieve Shanhara for them. They deceived Ninjak by telling him that Aric is a terrorist who uses an advanced technology to attack the city of Rome.

It seemed that Ninjak was successfull right in the end, he outsmarted a man who uses a mighty armor by his wit and ninja tactics, but so far we knew that he is gonna turn into an ally.

X-O Manowar is a great book from Valiant, it has a great background story that tells the origin of a superheroes power, it's not the old fashioned ones that tells the protagonist that great powers comes with great responsibility or some billionaire and good looking guys who uses their money to build advanced caves and big toys for the big boys and absolutely not like that pretty boy in red and blue suit who always come to save the day.

X-O Manowar is one hell of a kickass superhero whose gonna take on everyone, and his background as a fierce Visigoth warrior makes him stand out among others.

I just felt bad the story of Aric will wrap up at issue #50 series finale coming next week, but Valiant promised that great plans in the future are coming for X-O Manowar, so I guess I'll just have to wait.

Detective Comics #938 Review

Detective Comics #938 "Rise of the Batmen" part 5 is actually the first issue which I have read from DC's bimonthly published book. And I'm going to make it straight to the point by saying that this arc is awesome and I regret that I wasn't able to read the first parts.

From James Tynion IV's storytelling, to art, everything is compelling. I like the first four pages which featured some flashbacks about Jacob Kane and Kate(Batwoman) which art was done by Al Barrionuevo and Adriano Lucas, the art gave the flashback vibe at a first glance, once a perfect father and daughter now were thorn apart by different idealism.

And the strongest point in that first four pages I think is Jacob telling her daughter "I'll spend the rest of my life making sure, what happened to Gabi and Beth never happens to another family", it's like Bruce Wayne's words then after that he put on the Bat suit. I think this shows that Jacob maybe isn't a bad guy after all.

I also have to give credits about the art, the colors Brad Anderson turned the characters into a 3 dimentional art. And I have to mention the side humors of the team, Batman and Batwoman having some child like arguments in the middle of the fight against the colony. And Clayface the big guy talking funny stuffs, and I have to ask, do big guys in the comic books always provide the comic relief?

Look at this art showing the big guy flipping the entire colony, I think it's funny and cool. And another amazing site, the Dynamic duo Batman and Robin fighting side by side, of course it's normal to see this in a Batman series but I think this is special with this particular issue because there are a lot of people involved and to see just this two icons fighting together is incomparable.

I think that this arc is about to reach a shocking conclusion, I can feel it rushing to my veins. And in that part where the team escaped the colony, the Dark Knight issues a warning in Jacob, and you know he's serious when he does that.

Is Tubidy Illegal?

Tubidy is a free video and mp3 download site. I made some searches about it and I found out that it's legality is being questioned since it's a free download site and everything that is free is too good to be true.

But searching about it actually made me more confused, because I found not only one site that is named Tubidy, the other says it's a video streaming site like Youtube, the other one says it's an mp3 download site which songs available were converted from Youtube, which one is the real thing?

And about the debate whether Tubidy is legal or not, how can we even say whether a free download site is legal or illegal since there is 4Shared which offers free download but is not penalized? All I know is that sharing a video or music for personal consumption maybe legal but if one sells it or broadcast it in public viewing or an online radio, that's where it becomes illegal.

Bottom line, if Tubidy is no longer available for use, then it's definitely illegal.

Nagsimula na ang Encantadia 2016, at gusto malaman ng lahat, ano ang ratings? Nalampasan ba nito o napantayan man lang yung household ratings na naitala ng Encantadia noong 2005?

Ang malungkot na balita ay hindi. Hindi magandang simula para sa Encantadia. Sa kabila ng magandang promotions, tv plug at kung anu ano pa, nagtala ang Encantadia 2016 pilot episode ng 21.0% household ratings laban sa 42.4% ng katapat nitong "FPJ's Ang Probinsiyano" ng ABS-CBN noong July 18. Base yan sa audience measurement ng Kantar Media.

Ayon naman sa AGB-Nielsen Mega Manila ratings, panalo ang 26.1% ng Encantadia kontra sa 24.2% ng Ang Probinsiyano. Pero compared sa pilot episode ng Encantadia noong 2005 na nagtala ng higit 40%, mababa ito. Hindi maiiwasan i-compare ang Encantadia 2016 sa 2005, at kahit sabihin pa ng Kapuso Network na hindi nila nais lampasan ang mga naunang accomplishments ng Encantadia, hindi maiaalis ang pressure na gusto nilang gawin yun. Encantadia 2016 Episode 1 Review

Encantadia 2016 has began. They said it's gonna be a re-telling and yes its is. It began totally different from how it did 11 years ago.

Encantadia 2016 gave us a glimpse of Reyna Minea's past, introduced new characters and how the against the kingdom of Hathoria began. Although these stories were also told in the first Encantadia, it's far more elaborate this time I think.

The improved visual effects added highlights to the battle scenes, more than just sword fights and fire powers the addition of flying battle ships introduced an advance in the Encantadia kingdom's battle technology. It's high tech but still magical like those we see in Japanese animes.

The creative crew just needs to be careful with some blocking, like when Dingdong Dantes was standing side by side with the Sapiro kingdom's clan as Raquim. It's almost confusing to recognize his character as Raquim because we kno for the fact that he used to potray Ybarro/Ybrahim in tje first Encantadia, and I do think that his body language shows that he is acting as Ybrahim and not Raquim. Maybe he needs to learn how to separate the two.

Brock Lesnar Beats Mark Hunt in UFC 200

Brock Lesnar was successful in his MMA comeback after defeating Mark Hunt in UFC 200 held at the T-Mobile Arena at Las Vegas.

A takedown by Brock Lesnar at the 3rd round gained him the advantage to do his ground and pound game and avoid Mark Hunt's knockout game.

What We Learned From the Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos URCC Brawl

A lot of MMA fans were talking about that match between Baron Geisler and Kiko Matos at the Universal Reality Combat Championship or URCC. But everybody who witnessed the match inside the octagon cage got dismayed when the match ended in a draw because it had to be stopped in the second round.

The conclusion of the match with Baron and Kiko which actually started in a real life brawl tells everything about Mixed Martial Arts and all other contact sports, "it separates Man from the Boys".

MMA is a man's sports while Baron and Kiko are just boys trying to play the man's game. MMA fighters are trained professionals, their stamina and edurance are beyond any mortal man. Their body knows how to handle pain and the more the match gets intense, the more their strength spikes to top.

Unfortunately for Baron and Kiko, they were just 5 feet and above by standers who were invited by a low grade MMA promotion to get it on inside the cage.

In the conclusion of the match, Kiko Matos stumbled to the canvas, catching his breath and he could having nausea during that time. Same way as Baron, who is at the hype before the match was talking trash and was acting like some berserk animal, but ended up catching his breath and got nothing left.

URCC choked on this one, they tought it was a good idea to put those guys in inside the cage to take advantage of people clamouring to see them get it on, but they simply couldn't deliver.

Every contact sports always reminds us "don't try this at home" and "only for trained professionals". I think that the URCC violated those reminders themselves. Baron and Kiko aren't professional fighters, they couldn't even bust each other's mouth because they hit like girls. And they could even walk after the match ended. If those two would actually get booked in a match against a real fighter, they would end up in a hospital or worst.

I'm an MMA fan too, and I think what URCC did was a mockery of the industry. This is the reason why it's just a minor league and would always remain what it was when it started, an underground promotion.
