Linder Security Teaches Designers About Sound Isolation

Tad Linder, president of Linder Security Systems in Atlanta, led a continuing education class earlier this month for members of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).

Both Tad and Dana Lindsay of Linder Security are certified trainers in the Custom Electronics Design and Installation Association’s (CEDIA’s) Registered Outreach Instructor (ROI) program, so Linder Security provided course materials and certificates for continuing education credit for each attendee. CEDIA offers courses for designers, builders and architects that address how to integrate technology needs and wants into new homes and renovations.

The Georgia ASID invited us to teach “Sound Isolation in a Specialty Room” on May 8, a course focused on tips for isolating sound so it doesn’t interrupt activities in nearby spaces. Despite a common misconception, sound doesn’t just come from a blaring television; washing machines, lawn mowers outside, loud games and other noises also need to be considered.

The event was hosted at Miami Circle’s Walker Zanger showroom, which provided wonderful appetizers to get the evening started.

Blending Indoor and Outdoor Spaces – And Technology

The Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) recently featured “Three Outdoor Spaces, Three Entertainment Solutions” on its website. All three installations were pretty spectacular, but we were especially drawn to one in particular that has large doors that open so people inside can enjoy the outside. As CEDIA explains:

“NanaWall doors fold up to open the entire front and side of the house and create a flow between the indoors and the pool area. On bad weather days, the poolside screen becomes an all-weather theater; the homeowner can close the glass doors and watch the screen from the inside….”

We think this is very cool—don’t you?
