We recently came across a really interesting statistic: The number of networked in-home appliances and electronics is expected to grow by more than 52 percent by the year 2016, as predicted by NPD In-Stat and reported on by Appliance Magazine. That’s a huge amount of growth!

Of course at Linder Security Systems, we believe that technology can help improve people’s lives, and it’s neat to see that more and more, consumers will be looking to “smart” devices for their convenience and entertainment. Appliance Magazine explains the trend well:

“Household consumer electronics (CE) continued shifting to connected devices in 2011. Successful connected products include digital TV, satellite set-top boxes, game consoles, and Blu-ray player/recorders. NPD In-Stat has forecast that the connected device installed base will grow from 256.8 million units in 2011 to 1.34 billion units in 2016.”
