Sim, esta postagem aparece após um longo tempo de inatividade, eu sei. Mas o hiato ocorre devido a obrigações e afazeres da vida real, certo? Por isso não vou demorar-me, apenas tecer breves comentários sobre alguns aspectos constatados durante o processo do meu aprendizado de idiomas.

Primeiramente, os idiomas que, indubitavelmente MAIS contam no âmbito internacional, a saber: Inglês, Francês e Espanhol.O Inglês é vital, sem discussão. E podendo-se acrescentar os outros dois, tanto será lucro. Como já domino Inglês e Espanhol desde os 8 anos de idade trato, portanto, de empenhar-me em melhorar o Francês.

Outro aspecto a constatar, durante o tempo em que aprendi Italiano: este, curiosamente, acabou por ajudar-me a compreender melhor algumas estruturas da língua francesa, e também de elementos de vocabulário.

Aponto aqui alguns pequeninos exemplos:

Je voudrais = Vorrei
Été = Estate

Hier = Ieri
Demain = Domani
à Paris, à Londres = a Parigi, a Londra

Domani sarò a Parigi, e vorrei bere un bicchiere di vino lì.
Demain je serai à Paris, et je voudrais boire un verre de vin là-bas.

Etc. e tal.

Bem, não tomem estas minhas anotações por "simplificações"; cada um tem seu método de aprender e, em se tratando de aprendizado de línguas, ao meu sistema procuro incorporar um componente mnemônico, em se tratando de idiomas de uma mesma família lingüística (germânica, latina, eslava ou o que for...). É este o meu método de aprendizado, e cada um tem o seu.

Portanto, são anotações, não "regras", ok? E tais podem ser desenvolvidas, aprimoradas posteriormente.

Encerrando: até que o Italiano serviu-me para alguma coisa :)))))))))))))

The following excerpt has been translated from a topic originally posted on an old Brazilian web message board (yet by unidentified author) on 1999, whose link has inevitably been lost in time and (cyber)space – does anyone here still remember that old Tribal Voice's POWWOW thing?

In order to better understand its contents, just a little information: the message in question has been posted during a serious crisis within an existing Brazilian virtual community by that time. Half ironical, half accuser, the posting was aimed to unmask a certain state of things, to which the community in question had been turned into…

Some adaptations for today’s internet reality have been made, yet trying not to distort its original meaning. Additionally, same adaptation procedure within the translation task - due to local/regional matters – was also necessary. On the other hand, one does not necessarily have to agree unconditionally with all statements, since they just serve as a starting point to reflexions concerning communities and relationships in general (may them be virtual, or even real)... Or at least for having plain FUN, okay?

If you are a first timer, it is truly advisable to greet everyone in the room – or else room’s owners will DELETE (“X”) you.
when firstly introduced to the group, you will actually feel like in a “family”: there are “matriarches”, “throats”(who think themselves to rule) and the “CEO”, which everybody disdain but, basically, do love – because they sustain the family and of course cares, just like in a family.
That’s right: you’ll never notice a single user talking bad of you – but those which do so, usually do on Private mode…
as soon as you “make your home”, watch out: it is probably when they start bothering you. Getting to know the “room codes” is actually very important e.g. when your “family” is logged on, and everyone apparently gets mute as you enter, it is likely because the one you expect to be the closest is detracting you right away, on Private mode.
If you wish to make GOOD friends: never chat seriously, always do that loose talk which room’s owners do appreciate and always praises everyone openly, even to that one you detract behind their back (be on Private or for real).
Good, keep always in touch with everyone, even with that person who just keeps on detracting you on Private; otherwise, it is you who takes the risk of getting ill-famed as a dull and rude person.
always remember: LOOK OUT, think you’re part of the “club” – and that might be a FATAL MISTAKE/ERROR.
If you do succeed and think you’re going to win an "award", "medal" or whatever… You’re probably fooler than expected, because various rooms have boisterous, boastful owners which allow you to think you’re accepted – until the day you argue with some of them.
If you do not succeed, don’t worry, be happy: you are part of a HUGE majority. You can tell it by reading the rubbish usually posted in several chats, discussion groups, forums, message boards, or else social networks lost in cyberspace.

Every day I access my home computer and start a new working day, I wonder how things used to be in the beginning of 21rst century. In those already past times, life surely has been not so different than nowadays, in some aspects – only some technological progress makes a lot of difference, and somewhat funny!

Firstly, when I read an electronic book in my home computer, which is so small that it fits the palm of my hand (having also the resource of transferring any type of data from the computer to my database watch), I remember those hilarious huge PCs from hundred years ago. How couldn’t they be as portable as this one I own?

Additionally, all those shops and supermarkets seem so outdated as everyone now can buy the most ordinary things like groceries or household goods without getting out from the house – just one click in my portable palm-computer and everything can be bought and delivered to my house.

On the other hand, it is really gratifying to know that most of those environmental problems which once used to be such a nuisance to the whole so-called Planet Earth are now completely eradicated. For example, all residences are supplied with their own fabricated water, therefore the shortage or even the simple lack of this substance is not a problem anymore.

Time to stop – because I have to make a business contact on my palm-PC (which is also equipped with both digital and web cameras, and have voice devices as well) to close a deal. Duty calls…

Actually, this translation has been written a few years ago, with the assistance of a good friend of mine, English teacher (thanks, Orlando!). It occurred to me to re-post it on this blog which, after all, is set as a diary for notes on foreign language studies, isn't it?

It is an article by a late Brazilian writer and essayist, Artur da Távola, originally published in a newspaper from Rio de Janeiro.

Only a few, say, adjustments had been made (QUITE a few, I guarantee).

The original version in Portuguese can be found here (the better I could ever find on web searches).

THE ARTISTS OUT OF THE MEDIA

by Artur da Távola (1936-2008 - Brazilian writer, essayist, journalist and professor), first published in O DIA, a Brazilian newspaper from Rio de Janeiro city, on July 16th of 1998.

Never deceive an artist out of the media. They're an angel that has become sad. And above all, never ever disenchant them. It is a mortal sin uttering or thinking: "Poor fellow, they're finished and still don't know it". Don't be pitiful by falseness: they perceive so. Be patient with their complaints and try to understand their art. There are two kinds of artist out of the media: the ones way above those who sporadically dominate the market and the second-class ones. The former becomes unfairly unhappy, the latter dull. But the dream of both is simple and pure: to exist, to spread sensitive existences, to have the right to show up who they are.

Victim of the merciless selective purposes of the market and its greedy specialists, guided by either fair or unfair criteria, with artistic quality or not, they quit selling records, books and drawing audiences altogether.

They go into the apartheid of Fame. The artist out of the media is a soul in limbo. They await the sentence of Fate with a hollowed and hurt look of certain dogs. Expelled from the illuminated stage, they withstand injustices and don't understand what goes on and why they remain forgotten. Wedged between the pride of not begging and the pain of discrimination, they end up being divided between those who get conformed, saddened, and those resentful which find arguments, both fair and unfair, against those who don't invite them to perform. Never ever promise to an out-of-the-media what you can’t do. More it is worth a sincere NO than a YES impossible of being fulfilled.

Never ever greet them with unpleasant looks or consolation words. Nor with handouts of sympathy. Either just offer work or speak to them frankly. They are beings of suffering solitude and gentle dependence on recognition and care. They howl nostalgias to the imaginary moons of their memories. They're a kind of outcast not currently listed in Human Rights’ handbooks.

May God give every artist out of the media patience and perseverance enough to carry on. Sometimes recognition arrives later. Even when it doesn't matter anymore.

Italian is the language that had been improved better these months, mostly because of having some Italian online friends that give me a little hand when needed.
As for French, now I read and understand it much better than it used to be – curiously, Italian phrasing and word structures were extremely helpful in this process! -, yet some fluency on talking is still a concern: thus, adding more French language contacts should be a lot of helpful, too :P
The only problem that still persists is getting friends/contacts/pen-pals to help in improving German, still on a Basic level. Anyway, better than nothing, since there was a time that I couldn’t understand a single line in German, and my language’s knowledge just couldn’t exceed a few words and a notion on pronounciation as well :D
In the mid-time, some good learning materials (both online and in books) have been compiled.

Sei que este blog está há um bom tempo sem atualização, em parte devido a estudos de pós-graduação que têm ocupado um pouco o meu tempo; mas, sempre que posso, não descuido o aprendizado das línguas consideradas importantes; e, navegando, dei de cara com estas tabelas que podem ser bastante úteis em algumas situações - inclusive viagens -, com diferentes tipos de alimentos em 7 línguas: português, espanhol, inglês, francês, alemão, italiano... e holandês.

Basta imprimir, e carregar por aí.

OBS.: na parte de Português, pareceu-me que alguns dos termos são mais familiares ao Português europeu que ao Português brasileiro.

Dois vídeos em inglês (bastante elucidativos) sobre a língua italiana, sobre determidados aspectos lingüísticos da cultura italiana, i.e. como vividos no cotidiano da Itália; trata-se de um aspecto da realidade local portanto, como o autor de ambos destaca.

Parte 1

Este trata das parolacce, ou palavrões; até aí, nenhuma novidade, mesmo porque ainda não ouvi falar de idiomas que não tenham lá sua cota de palavrões. De palavrões nenhuma língua escapa, não é verdade? (Nem a "Última Flor do Lácio")

Embora tenha achado hilária a escolha do fundo musical para esta Parte 1, constatei, lá pelo YouTube mesmo, irritantes comentários a este vídeo postados por gringos, nos quais confunde-se a todo instante o gênero musical em questão com... Samba. PRA VARIAR X-(

Parte 2

Este, o mais significativo da série, exatamente por demonstrar uma peculiariade presente no italiano CORRENTE: a bestemmia (blasfêmia), verdadeira habilidade lingüística italiana, tamanho o, digamos, traquejo demonstrado nesta verdadeira "arte" por lá: a "arte" de bestemmiare.

Aliás, referente ao tópico abordado na "parte 2" existe - ao menos até o momento em que esta escriba que vos tecla havia conferido - um aplicativo no Facebook, intitulado Manda Bestemmie 2.0, no qual verifica-se cada coisa de verdadeiramente arrepiar os cabelos: o traquejo, a desenvoltura já comentados e ali, digamos, postos em prática :-O

E, para encerrar... Sorria:

OBS.: não se trata, aqui, se fazer-se apologia à chamada bandalheira, e sim de demonstração de peculiaridades culturais. Portanto, este post é para ser "apreciado com moderação", observados os devidos limites e a ÍNDOLE de cada um.
