I'm trying to install opsview as outlined in http://docs.opsview.com/doku.php?id=opsview-community:ubuntu-installation but when I try to install the package I get the error "depends: libperl5.10 (>= 5.10.1) but it is not going to be installed." what do? i'm running 11.10

I have a problem .. I'm trying to set up iptables and every time I execute the script it halts the ssh connection to the serv I'm configuring.I am using the following

iptables -A INPUT -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 22 -m state --state NEW,ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

iptables -A OUTPUT -o eth0 -p tcp --sport 22 -m state --state ESTABLISHED -j ACCEPT

this is for allowing incoming ssh but hangs the ssh connection every time I try to run it and have to remotely reboot the box

I'm trying to run X from a chroot, I have /dev, /dev/shm, /dev/pts, /proc, /sys, /tmp, /var/run mounted, screen is drawed but keyboard/mouse freezes, even though I can ssh to it, any ideas?

My window manager seems to have broke (xfce). I don't see windows around borders, the mouse doesn't display, and i cannot open the "window manager" settings from the menu (the xorg text tty says my window manager is unknown). The panel still loads but doesn't display my desktops correctly (only shows 1, i have 2). How can i find out why this might have happened? (everything used to work just fine).

Hello everyone. I've been bashing my head against a network card problem for 2 days without success and was wondering if someone could help me out. Card is atheros device with signature "168c:0032" when running lspci -nn.

No matter what I do, I can't get the card to get recognized. Looks like it might be that I need to upgrade to a new kernel to get ath9k support for the card, but I've tried the debian version with that kernal and it just crashes hard when the screen is started. Radeon support is a joke I think.

Hi folks. Question concerning web server security. Apache is running as apache:apache, all files are owned by root:root. Web server was hacked via a malicious PHP script (a shell/file manager script), and they were then able to modify everything under Apache's purview. How can I prevent this, or at least limit the damage, in the future?

Hi, I have a script command that I want to run when the computer boots, how do I do that? Also, with around 30 sec delay so the wireless is up and running

i want to run this command

sudo mount.cifs //192.168.1.5/timecapsule/ /media/capsule -o pass=xxxxx

his mounts my capsule to /media/capsule folder

how to do that automatically is beyond me. I tried fstab or whatever but it failed since the network is not laoded before it tried to mount it

I installed catalyst driver 12.1 for a try just now.I'm clearly missing something when trying to blacklist the radeon driver. When booting catalyst it tries to load the radeon module and when I get as far as gdm I get either a blank screen or a screen of coloured lines then the system reboots. I tried adding the following to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
