I have had a constant battle with getting SASL authentication working within Postfix. My email accounts are stored in a MySQL database with MD5 encrypted passwords. I use Courier Authlib (authdaemond) to authenticate IMAP users fine, but I could never get Postfix/Cyrus talking correctly with authdaemond.
