Have you joined Pink Castle Fabrics’ Stash Stack Club yet? Because I’m obsessed with any subscription-by-mail service these days, I knew I had to join immediately. The all-prints fabric offering follows a color theme each month. I signed up just in time for the May mailing and I’m glad I did – it was all about red! From the current selection it looks like gray is on deck for June. The fabrics are selected by Pink Castle Fabrics and In Color Order.

I’ve already started playing around with the pieces I’ve received AND upped the amount of fabrics I receive each month.

Calling all bikers! Make sure to check out Julia Rothman’s latest offering for Windham Fabrics – Ride. This bike-themed collection features everything from gears to traffic signs. I made my own table runner for summer entertaining with a sample I received, but check out this post from Windham’s blog for a roundup of other project ideas featuring the fabric.

I’m very excited to be a part of Indie Detroit Wedding Ring, an online resource for DIY-minded brides and grooms. After my wedding, I realized how hard it is for folks not connected to the crafting world to find independent business owners who focus on local goods or making goods on their own. My co-horts, Carey Gustafson (of Glass Action and Handmade Detroit) and leader Angela Ficorelli (of Moving Beauty) felt the same way, too. And it’s not just weddings – there’s a real need for DIY party assistance, from supplies to ideas, for folks in Detroit.

This year we’re building up our database and looking to highlight fantastic area makers and business owners. To get us started, we’re hosting a small showcase at Flip Salon in Ferndale on June 28. The event is free of charge – we’re just looking to meet other folks who want help creating their DIY wedding.

I’m also pleased to share that Windham Fabrics has graciously donated fabric for our guest thank-you gifts! These handmade totes, made by yours truly, will be given to the first 25 folks that evening. They’re great for stashing the business cards and flyers you’ll be picking up that evening! I’ll be sharing a tutorial on how to make them for yourself, too. Why not use them for out-of-town guests, gift bags for attendants, etc.?
