FAMILY  CAMP – LURGASHALL

Friday 8^th July to Sunday 10^th July 2016

We have had some fantastic family camps at the Woodcraft site in Lurgashall (about 10 miles away). Here are some previous memories…

All families are very welcome to attend our family camp at Lurgashall. We’ll be setting up camp from 6pm on Friday evening and will set off for home after lunch on Sunday. Families are welcome to join us for just one night if that suits your family arrangements.

The opportunities for children to have a great time are fantastic. The site is made up of four fields and a wood – all of which are available for our use. There is an adventure playground and lots of other things to do! During the weekend we’ll organise some wide games and there’ll be equipment for rounders, cricket, football etc. This time I want to try and give the children some leadership roles for example I’d like a group of children to plan and lead a walk in the country. Others ought to plan and create parts of our meals…

The cost of the weekend is £10 / family / night. So if you’re staying for two nights it’s £20 for your whole family.

You’ll need to bring your own camping equipment – tent, sleeping bags etc. Woodcraft do own some tents so ask if you’d like to borrow one as that’s easy to arrange.

Families do need to come properly dressed for a weekend outdoors so please bring warm clothes and suitable footwear – a pair of wellies would be great!

Camp food will be provided – a BBQ on Friday night. There’ll be a range of cereals, bread, jam, peanut butter etc for breakfast. Lunch will be a feast prepared by the children. And on Saturday night we’ll be taking it easy with a take away (not included in cost). You’ll also need to bring a mug, plate, bowl and eating utensils.

…we will be at The Triangle Centre making some painting/collages with an under the sea theme, please bring along any scraps of fabric, shiny things etc. which would be useful for the pictures.

We will be at the allotments on duckmead lane from 6:30.

There will be all sorts of things to do including a gnome hunt and a BBQ!!

As usual please park considerately, either in the small area at the bottom of duckmead lane, if welcome to park behind my car (red Zafira). Or on mint road and cross the pedestrian railway crossing (v.carefully obviously!).

As it is chilly and could be muddy, warm clothes, and wellies would be sensible.

There is no alternative activity, if the weather is atrocious we will cancel. Look out for an email

Our annual BBQ at Queen Elizabeth Country park. We always have a great time, with lots of space to play, light evening and barbecue food. The weather forecast is good.

It would be helpful to know how many we’re catering for, so please let me know if you plan to come. We’ll have a vegan and a meat option but let me know of any other special dietary requirements.

We have a few adults already on the rota but would appreciate anyone else who wants to stay and help supervise. It’s usually a nice evening for adults too.

We have booked the juniper bbq so follow signs to juniper when you arrive at qe park and follow the road right up the hill to juniper.

When you pick up, the gate may be locked, if it is, please wait in the main car park and we’ll bring the children down to you. If it’s open, just come up.

You don’t need to bring anything, just appropriate clothing for whatever the weather is doing as we’ll be outside.

The forecast for Friday is for warm and sunny weather, fortunately. But we will be outside so have warm clothes for after swimming etc.

Rake school is easy to find on London road, rake, Gu33 7jh.

We need quite a few adults to supervise the children swimming etc., can I have a few volunteers to be on duty?
