Basic grooming and care help maintain your pet's health

I love my dog, but the one thing that does irk me about having a pet is the hair! I never thought I’d vacuum as often as I do now. But to help remedy the excess hair that does build in corners and behind furniture, you have to pick a brush that will help you fight shedding.

You will need to consider the type of hair your dog has. Is it flat-coated, short-coated, combination coat, double, heavy, silky, curly, wire, naturally long? This chart can help you make better decisions about the type of hair.

After you have decided on the best brush for your pet according to hair, you can find brushes at your local pet store or consult your groomer on the best methods for combating shedding and coat maintenance. This chart lists the common types of brushes that are used on certain hair types.

Along with basic grooming, basic pet care is also important. Keep your pets nails trimmed and teeth clean. Trimmed nails are less likely to injure the pads of the feet, otherwise, nails can actually grow backwards toward the paws and make walking difficult.

Clean teeth also keep your pet well. Allowing your pet to eat too much wet food can lead to Calculus build-up and cause internal health complications further in life. Stay away from Nylabones as they tend to crack the teeth and cause more damage. Instead, opt for rubber toys such as Kong toys and natural rawhides.

As always, please monitor your pet when using chew toys, and remove any potentially dangerous items from your pet.

The idea of Pay It Forward was coined with the novel and the release of the movie. It inspired folks to do something rewarding while improving their sense of accomplishment.

On Stage Performing

Would you like to get on stage performing and showcase your musical gifts and talents?

Loco Lu’s Coffeehouse has a nice set-up for you to rock the house on Open Mic Night, Every Monday.

Bring your best piece and perform on stage in front of a live audience.  If you are serious about making it to the big-time then every performance has to be your best.
