The political soap opera starring the USA and China have been driven mainly by capitalism, but the White House coming out in support of Google, a ‘mere’ corporation, has the world tethered at the edge of their seats, watching very keenly and closely.

The ramifications of this move will probably show themselves somewhere down the line, but for now, odds are sky-high on China handing in a transparent explanation. And no one’s even mentioning an apology.

Google, what took you so long?

China should learn from Singapore. An unnecessary political “cool-down” period is cheerfully relegated to the end pages of the newspapers. See? Subtle.
