U Mobile Prepaid Unlimited Mobile Internet Plan

U Mobile offers 250MB Data with their new Unlimited Mobile Internet Plan for RM18/month which is called as UMI 18. For as low as RM18/month, you will get a bundle of 250MB of data, 25 minutes of free calls to all networks and 25 free SMS to all networks with 30 days validity. The unutilised minutes and SMS can be carried forward to next month but limited to a maximum of 50 minutes and 50 SMS. When you have exceeded your 250MB quota, you can still use for free but download speed will be throttled down to 64kbsp.

As for UMI28, you will be given 500MB (unlimited but download speed will be throttled down to 64kbsp after 500MB), 100 minutes of free calls and 30 SMS. Free calls are applicable to all networks, anywhere in Malaysia except for special numbers ie 1800 numbers.

HTC J Butterfly

While manufacturers such as HTC and Samsung have been pushing for larger and larger smartphone screens over the past few years, screen resolutions have not really caught up. This has left many larger screened phones with relatively low image qualities, despite having seemingly high resolutions.

The J Butterfly not only has a 5 inch Super LCD 3 screen but combines this with an impressive 1920 x 1080 resolution, resulting in a staggering 440 pixel per inch (ppi) quality. When Apple launched the iPhone 4 back in 2010, with its “Retina” display, it had been fairly boastful about the 326 ppi quality. While some Android phones have since surpassed this ppi, none have yet got to the impressive quality offered by the J Butterfly. Of course, anything higher than the iPhone’s ppi is impossible to detect with the human eye, Apple will tell you, but it is still a sign of things to come.

The J Butterfly will run on Android Jelly Bean with HTC Sense 4+, which looks markedly different to earlier versions of Sense. While the screen is certainly the most talked about aspect of the J Butterfly, it comes with an impressive amount of hardware at its disposal too. A 1.5GHz quad core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor and 2GB RAM will make this one of the most powerful phones around, in Japan at least.

Many of its features will be specifically geared towards the Japanese market, including the ability to stream special TV broadcasts, use Japan’s touch card payment system, and receive government issued national emergency warnings for earthquakes and other natural disasters.

The J Butterfly appears to be the same device that has been cropping up during the past few weeks from numerous HTC specification and image leaks. At the time, it was largely speculated that it would be released as the “HTC One X 5″, or that it would be released as a Nexus phone known as the “Nexus 5″.

HTC has confirmed that the J Butterfly will not see release outside of Japan, but that its screen will do. It is unclear if the J Butterfly will be launched globally under a different name or if there is a similar phone featuring the same display and HD screen resolution. If the former is the case, then perhaps there is some truth in the rumours that this will be one of the next Nexus phones.

It is now widely believed that LG will be releasing a Nexus phone in the coming months, known as the Nexus 4, and images recently surfaced of a highly dubious Sony phone dubbed the “Sony Nexus X”. Due to the images appearing on Picasa and having some tell-tale signs of photoshopping, it is unlikely that they are genuine, although there is a high probability that a Sony Nexus phone is in development as claimed.

As for the camera of PadFone 2, it comes with a 13 megapixel rear camera and 1.2 megapixel of front camera for video calls. The rear camera is capable of shooting 1080p videos at 30fps, 720p videos at 60fps and 6fps for 100 continuous shots at full 13MP resolution. Asus claims PadFone 2 has 3G talk time of 16 hours, browsing of 13 hours, video of nine hours and 3G standby of two weeks.

The tablet features the same 10.1, 1280 x 800 IPS screen with smaller sized battery that has higher capacity of 6,600mAh as compared to the old version of 5,000mAh. The battery for the phone has increased its capacity from 1,520mAh in the old version to a 2,140mAh in the PadFone 2.

ASUS PadFone 2 will be on sale in Taiwan next week and will be launched in Asia before December in following  countries : Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand and also Europe. Other regions will be getting the device later on. The PadFone 2 smartphone is priced at 17,990 Taiwan dollars (US$616) for 16GB version, 19,990 Taiwan dollars (US$684) for 32GB and 21,901 Taiwan dollars (US$750) for 64GB. The PadFone Station/tablet will retail for 8,990 Taiwan dollars (US$307).
