My first language is Spanish. I’m fluent in reading, understanding, writing and speaking Spanish and I want my daughter to be the same. I want her to learn more than one language in her life, specially when it comes to Spanish since its part of our culture. Right now she understands a little  Spanish when I talk to her but she doesn’t speak Spanish at all. She is barely speaking sentences in English.

We try to read her a book in English or Spanish a day, during the day or for bedtime and she loves the idea. Sometimes she doesn’t even want to leave the house without a book in her hand and when we visit the store she insists of getting a new book. I have a little bookworm, do you?

Are you interested in cultural books or interested in the Latino culture? Then come visit LeaLA.  LéaLA is a free event held in Los Angeles to promote the. I’m hoping to attend this event because of my daughter, I know she will love it since it relates to books!

Why is LéaLA so important? LéaLA, the Spanish Book Fair of Los Angeles, and the largest Hispanic book fair in the country, returns for the third year, May 17-19, 2013, to the Los Angeles Convention Center. It’s a free, three-day cultural event that has captured Latinos and non-Latinos interested in books in the language of 22 countries and their diverse cultures. LéaLA is a cultural festival where Latinos can rediscover their roots and culture and feel proud of their native language. For more information LéaLA visit: www.lea-la.com.

Are you going to LeaLA? If you are a local SOCAl resident you should attend LéaLA. It’s going to be fun event,  filled with lots of activities, book signings, music, theater presentations, poetry recitals and a children’s place. I have yet to attend LeaLA for the first time and what I’m most excited about is purchasing some books at LeaLA for my toddler who loves books.  I’m also super excited about attending  LeaLA’s Children’s Area that will include special workshops and activities for the children.

Are you new to gardening or love gardening? I’m a newbie at gardening but I’d love to learn more. When Miracle-Gro contact me to create a Gro-Project to inspire others to get out and grow something, I was excited to be able to get my hands dirty.

I went to Home Depot and was looking for an outside plant to experience with. Home Depot’s Cactus collection was amazing so I decided on purchasing some succulents for my Gro-Project. They had many little succulents and I had a hard time choosing which ones I love the most.

Remember my Eggshell Flower Centerpiece? This time I’m using real Miracle Gro-Soil and succulents to re-create my beautiful centerpiece.

This succulent eggshell centerpiece is perfect for a picnic, outdoor dinner, or any special occasion. When done, you can even place the eggshell succulents straight into the ground or bigger pot to decorate your porch!

Succulents require low water but do require a lot of direct sunlight, so this is definitely an outside garden project.

You will need the following to create this gorgeous piece:

• Miracle-Gro Potting Mix or Miracle-Gro Cactus Potting Mix (About 1 cup)
• 12 Eggshells
• Ceramic Egg Crate or regular Egg Carton
• Mini Succulent Plants about 5-6 depending on how many succulents per plant  (I found these mini succulents at Home Depot for $1.99 Each)

Step 1: Prepare your eggshells. You can remove the egg yolk by cracking them by the tip and removing bits and pieces of eggshell to make a hole big enough for the egg to come out. Wash out your eggshells with water.

Step 2: Add about half of teaspoon of Miracle-Gro Potting Mix to each eggshell

Step 3: Remove succulent from the plastic pot. If your plant comes with three separate succulents, use your hands to separate them and carefully remove excess soil. Use the smallest succulents to be able to add them to each egg. I added about two flowers to each egg depending on the size.

STEP 4: Add succulent to the eggshell and add more Miracle-Gro Potting Soil to completely cover all sides.

Thanks to Smirnoff Vodka, two weeks ago we had an intimate brunch to taste the new Smirnoff Sorbet Light Vodka.

I don’t drink much, only socially and one drink or two at most. Me and the hubs love a good homemade drink so we love trying out drinks and we were impressed by the taste of the new Smirnoff Sorbet Light.

We have a small home so we invited a few people to have a “Sweet Brunch” to taste out the new Smirnoff Sorbet Light and to learn something new.

I made different kinds of frosting, mini angel food cakes, toppings like sprinkles, fresh fruit or chocolate chips. I prepared a table with all the necessary ingredients to make some delicious Sorbet Light drinks and some homemade Chocolate Ganache.

I taught my guests how to “make your own chocolate ganache” for cupcakes or cakes! I even infused the Chocolate Ganache with Smirnoff Sorbet Light Pomegranate Vodka and it tasted so good! You only need about 3 ingredients needed to make chocolate ganache and my guests were able to learn how easy is to make an easy Chocolate Ganache to top cupcakes or cakes.

Our sweet brunch, turned out amazing and everyone had a great time. It was short brunch but sweet! Thank you, Smirnoff!

Now to try my chocolate ganache yourself you will need the following:

• 1½ cup of chopped chocolate
• 1 cup of Heavy Whipping Cream
• 1 tablespoon of Smirnoff Pomegranate Sorbet Light Infused Vodka

Instructions

1. In a sauce pan, heat up whipping cream until bubbles start to form. Let aside.
2. In a medium bowl add the chocolate, Sorbet Light Vodka. Pour in the whipping cream and whisk until all combined.

My special mother lives about 15 hours away and I haven’t seen her in more than 2 years! She is a very special mom because she has 10 daughters and I’m lucky to be part of her family. She did everything she could to raise and protect us when growing up and now is the time to were we have to take care of her and protect her. I’m lucky to have a mom like her. She has struggled through a lot, from medical issues, to money issues  and she has always had her daughters beside her.  We are a big family, with 10 sisters, and thankfully we still have both our parents, one grandma; all healthy and strong, making us a 5 generation family with 5 great-great-grand-kids.

As soon as my kids saw the big wagon box delivered they were excited to try it out. The assembly was really easy – I did it all myself! The hardest part was telling the kids that it wasn’t ready yet and I needed a few more minutes. Did I mention they were excited? Once we put it all together we decided to take it outside and have a picnic.

We packed our snacks and drinks in the outside compartment before heading out. The wagon is perfect for picnics or long walks because it has 6 cup or snack holders. We made good use of most of the cup holders packing juice boxes and bubbles. The bench chairs in the wagon fold down to create a little table as well.

After finishing our snacks we went for a stroll around the front yard. We live in the country and have a pretty decent sized front yard so we enjoyed the breeze and our new wagon.

Another fun feature that the kids enjoyed was the side door. My daughter would open it, climb in, close it and sit down. She’d do this multiple times before deciding we could move on to the next spot.

The wagon rolled wonderfully through the grass and I cant wait to try it other places. It will be great to take to the beach this summer!

When we went inside the wagon fun did not end. My daughter though it was her castle and loaded it with pillows while my son added stickers to the handle.

We had such a great time with the Step2 All Around Wagon!
