Lately, mornings have been fresh with a light breeze but once it turns 1pm it’s a whole new story. We have a lake nearby and lots of mountains but it’s still is very hot after 1pm. I can’t complain, I love this weather and it doesn’t compare to where I used to live in El Paso, TX where the summer days are over 100F and dry hot wind.

I have gather a few Ideas I love to try with my toddler this summer. Its time to go outdoors and have fun around nature; with water, plants or just by simply walking out. I hope you do get inspired to get out and have fun with the kiddos and try some of these outdoor summer activities.

My toddler doesn’t use diapers any more but I only used Pampers when she was using them. It’s the only brand I used when Little Aries was a baby that helped my baby to have a dry night.

Our bedtime routine is a little different. Since we have a different schedule, we usually sleep when the hubby comes from work which is around 11pm. Aries likes waiting for daddy at night, so we stay awake. When its bedtime, Aries needs to wash her teeth, put on PJs and sometimes read a bedtime story. My first language is Spanish. I’m fluent in reading, understanding, writing and speaking Spanish and I want my daughter to be the same. I want her to learn more than one language in her life, specially when it comes to Spanish since its part of our culture. Right now she understands a little  Spanish when I talk to her but she doesn’t speak Spanish at all. She is barely speaking sentences in English.

We try to read her a book in English or Spanish a day, during the day or for bedtime and she loves the idea. Sometimes she doesn’t even want to leave the house without a book in her hand and when we visit the store she insists of getting a new book. I have a little bookworm, do you?

Are you interested in cultural books or interested in the Latino culture? Then come visit LeaLA.  LéaLA is a free event held in Los Angeles to promote the. I’m hoping to attend this event because of my daughter, I know she will love it since it relates to books!

Why is LéaLA so important? LéaLA, the Spanish Book Fair of Los Angeles, and the largest Hispanic book fair in the country, returns for the third year, May 17-19, 2013, to the Los Angeles Convention Center. It’s a free, three-day cultural event that has captured Latinos and non-Latinos interested in books in the language of 22 countries and their diverse cultures. LéaLA is a cultural festival where Latinos can rediscover their roots and culture and feel proud of their native language. For more information LéaLA visit: www.lea-la.com.

Are you going to LeaLA? If you are a local SOCAl resident you should attend LéaLA. It’s going to be fun event,  filled with lots of activities, book signings, music, theater presentations, poetry recitals and a children’s place. Nicholas Spark will be also attending the event, so grab your favorite Nicolas Spark books!

I have yet to attend LeaLA for the first time and what I’m most excited about is purchasing some books at LeaLA for my toddler who loves books.  I’m also super excited about attending  LeaLA’s Children’s Area that will include special workshops and activities for the children.
