Email to request for assignment extension

Sir,

I am writing this email to request for an extension for my feature story until this coming Monday. I am actually 80% done with it, but after re-reading my feature a couple of times, I felt that my feature is nothing but a load of crap. I don't know if this reason is valid for an extension, but I would really hope that you will grant this extension to me so I can produce a better piece than what I have now.

Heh. I don't know why exactly am I so happy even though I have two assignments due tomorrow (or should I say later today) at 4pm. And I have yet to even start on any of them! :P

I'm currently in campus, listening to Jay Chou, finished a block of Hazelnut Cadbury chocolate and drinking a 355ml can of Red Bull. With another block of chocolate and a bottle of Red Bull, I'm hoping to finish up the assignments tonight, which I'm pretty sure I will.

So happy. Yay.

Uni Rant

Fourth week of uni. 2 Lectures attended. 1 Tutorial skipped.

I felt like I have learnt nothing to date. Ugh, I hate this feeling.

I have a group research thing that has been untouched by neither one of our group. And it's already been 3 weeks. We haven't even got together and talked about what EXACTLY our topic is.

FUCK I hate group-works.

A Man's Hunch

I took time off work today because I was lazy, but now I ended up being sick anyway, so I guess that's what a man's hunch is. There is hardly time for me to sleep, more to say get stuck on with assignments and shits, but that is hopefully all going to change now when I start sleeping early.

I have been online quite a bit lately, in search of parts for my desktop which my friend will be building for me. However, it appears that buying parts on a limited budget isn't as easy as I think it'll be. So, instead of buying more parts today, I ended up not buying anything. Next week, hopefully.

I have been looking at some lenses online again tonight. This time, the Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG Aspherical HSM. Despite the few not-so-good reviews by photogs, I am still very much attracted to the lens. I read and read about the lens, comparing with the competitors and I'm still lusting over it. The ability to have such a wide lens for landscape and indoor shots is just too irresistable.

Of course, I dropped the idea of getting myself another lens after considering these few factors:

My camera bag is too small :P
I do not really need the lens (yet)

and of course,

I can't afford it.

It's over AUD600 and I can't spend that amount of money on another lens at the moment. My top priority now is to build myself a decent desktop for picture editing and bigger storage. Anyone wanna get me the Sigma 12-24mm? :P

I feel so messed up inside, albeit the cheery facet is displayed day in, day out. Fuck, I didn't even talk to my colleagues at work tonight, unlike the usual yippy-doo-da-day me.

The Longest Journey

The Longest Journey is a PC point-and-click adventure game which I have been playing of late. Although it was first published in 1999, it is definitely rich in graphics and details, and the gameplay is absolutely amazing.

Just because it was made in 1999 doesn't necessarily mean that the graphics would be crap. Because it was all hand drawn back then, the graphics and the FMV sequences are comparable to more recent games.

Gamespot called it "one of the best adventure games in years" and had won the Adventure Game of the Year 2000 in both Gamespot and IGN.

A synopsis from wiki:

The game takes place in the parallel universes of Arcadia, a world of magic, and Stark, a world of science and technology. The protagonist, April Ryan, is an 18-year-old art student living in Stark. She learns that the line between the two worlds is growing thin, causing chaos on both sides. April also learns that she is a "Shifter", one who is capable of walking between these worlds, and is then tasked with restoring the Balance between the dimensions before it is too late.

Both Gamespot and IGN gave it an Outstanding rating of 9.3 of 10.

Now, would you excuse me as I get back to my game? I'm not even halfway through the 30 over hour long game.

Professional Communication MCC246/MCC546

..is one of the three units that I've been doing this semester. I had to do this unit because it is a core unit for my course. Judging from the title of the unit, I had initially thought that it would involve a heap of oral presentations and whatnot.

Of course, this is not the case. If it was, I wouldn't be ranting here. Professional Communication, also known as MCC246 (internal)/MCC546 (external) in Murdoch University, is the one unit that I honestly detest. The unit involves role-playing in tutorials. Heck, the tutorials ARE role-plays. There is no oral presentations or essays whatsoever. There are ten weekly assignments, where you have to go online to the crappy WebCT and complete the weekly exercises by Sunday, followed by a "comment" on another's exercise every Wednesday. They expect the students to attend tutorials to role-play, and to sit in groups of 3-4 every week, just role-playing. In case you don't know what role-play is, it is defined as

"a technique in training or psychotherapy in which participants assume and act out roles so as to resolve conflicts, practice appropriate behavior for various situations, etc." Source

If the role-plays are fun and interesting, it's alright. It's acceptable. But NO, it's utter rubbish. I remember light years ago, when I attended one of the Professional Communication tutorials, the tutor asked our group to role-play based on this topic:

You are the producers for Greenday. Discuss what actions to take when the lead singer of the band embraces Buddhism and decides to base their next album as a Buddhist based album.

Would anyone just explain to me what sort of question is that? Why can't they give a non-religious based question that does not appear as dumbfuck as that question? Heck, the tutor doesn't even seem to know that the question is stupid to begin with.

And don't get me started on the tutor ~~himself~~ herself.. FUCKKKKKKKKKKKKKK.

MCC236 Test

My first test finished today with the emergency bell that went off. We were evacuated to Bush Court, and the others who have yet to finish the test were given extra time to do it (on the grass). Poor them, but I guess they are quite desperate to get good marks.

I would say most of them have already discussed and referred to their books/notes whilst evacuating anyway, so they would have gotten most of their answers right. The only consolation for me is that everything that Sandra and myself had studied all night came out (I still got a couple of questions wrong though).

An email was sent out after the test, with an option to resit for the test this Friday, online. Why would I want to do that? I've already done it today, and I think I was fairly happy with how I fared. So, there's no way I will do it again.

Another test tomorrow. Have yet to start studying, and my eyes doesn't seem like it wants to open tonight. Perhaps I should sleep until morning before I start studying since the test starts at 2.30pm anyway.

I still need a job and somehow I am losing confidence in finding one by the end of this week, where I will be starting my nine weeks worth of holiday. Fuck.
