Happy Fridaaay and Memorial Day weekend, party peopllleee! For day eighteen of the Take One, Pass It On wardrobe remix challenge I decided to pass on my leopard pumps! Leopard really is the new natural, the new black, the shiz is basically what I'm saying friends. I can't tell you how many times these have visited the cobbler for a little TLC due to over-wear but that's what happens when shoes are this fabulous, comfortable and go with everything. I rest my case, it's the perfect pump.

Memorial Day Weekend Ready

Happy Memorial Day weekend everyone! M and I are so ready for a long low key weekend. Lately we have found ourselves constantly on the go or busy with blog and house projects. So this Memorial Day weekend we are opting to chill, spend some time grilling out with friends by a pool and logging some quality time on our back deck with a cool beverage or two.

This is my perfect casual barbecue shindig getup for the kick-off to summer from Gap Little Rock! I start living in dresses like this once those summer time temps hit here in the south. Comfortable, cool and cute. I also love the navy stripe, a little nautical nod with a punch of color.

Germany

Alas, here are highlights from the few days we spent in Germany last month! What a blessing and treat it was to see my grandparents (oma and opa), family friends and show M my roots. These pics were all taken in Budingen which is just outside of Frankfurt. I grew up in a few small towns around this area including Budingen. This is actually where my mom was born and parents met. Germany really is such a beautiful country. Despite the harshness of the language, the people here are so incredibly warm, friendly and gracious.

I love the timber-framed houses still lived in and the old churches and castles, medieval reminders of once was and still stands. For M it was especially amazing to walk down these cobblestone streets and behold such history and hear the stories about how this town came to be back in the 800’s or something. Say what? Dang, that’s old y’all.

This was probably the most chill portion of our trip. We just spent a lot of time eating, catching up and laughing. If you follow me on Instagram, you probably saw that I ate more in those few days than I had in the previous six months. So good!

This is my sweet oma and opa. I am laughing in this picture because my oma is SO sassy and dramatic. This is clearly where I get my dramatic flare from in the family. I'm sure she was saying something to the effect of, do you like my metallic lace ups b/c you're not the only fashionista in this family. I may be old but I'm still cool. It was wonderful to see them! My opa is sporting a baseball cap b/c it's so American. Love them so much.

You know, sometimes you just want to take a picture on a big wooden chair. What?

As I wrote this post, I did find myself getting a little misty eyed because it's not often we get to travel and see my family and friends in Germany. We know we will be going back, but first a visit from friends next spring! What should I show them here in Arkansas?? I will say they are already excited about barbeque! Boom.

Take One: Day Seventeen Vintage Inspired Necklace

Look! I got my hurrz did y’all! It was time for a little trim and color. I also just realized something, well two things. First, some of you have only known me as a red/brunette head. Say whaaat! I actually made this change from platinum blonde right before I launched Little Rock, Big Style. Secondly, I don’t really know the real color of my hair. I think it's light brown. I occasionally see a little root action but I haven’t not had some kind of color in my hair for well, a very long time. Hey, it may fall out eventually but I'll have had some fabulous looking hair days and I can just call Katy Perry and borrow some of her wigs when I'm 50. Speaking of, did I read that she and RPattz may be hooking up?! What the what!

I digress. So, it’s day seventeen for the Take One, Pass It On wardrobe remix challenge! I remixed this seriously amazing vintage inspired necklace from Dillard’s. This piece was at the shoot for an Arkansas Life style blogger feature and I wore it, and then of course had to buy it. It’s one of my absolute favorite pieces of jewry. (that’s how you’re supposed to say it)

I’m Casual Spice on day sixteen of the Take One, Pass It On wardrobe remix challenge. I’m not sure why the Spice Girls never publicly acknowledged my existence before but surely they are loyal readers and will soon count me in as part of the group. Apology accepted in advance, ladies. For this rainy day, I just wanted an unfussy and comfortable look so I remixed my peplum top with black skinnies, grey lace-up flats and military inspired coat. Easy, functional and still kinda cool I’d say.

This is a fashion event coming up in June which benefits support services for women with cancer. The runway show called the ‘fashion show of strength’ was created and is chaired by Allyson Pittman and Heather Owens, breast cancer survivor and founder of Fighting Fancy.

Take One: Day Fifteen Pale Pink Blazer

Hi friends! The pale pink blazer got the remix today for the Take One, Pass It On challenge. I seriously cannot even remember where I got this because it’s rull old but obvi still fantastic. I’ll spare you the whole ‘blazers are a staple that every woman must have’ bit because I just did that on day one. Clearly, I’m all about the when something works; just get an array of styles and colors. For day fifteen, I resorted back to my polished office look pairing the blazer with a peplum top, pencil skirt and leopard pumps. This Kohl's skirt is from my reporter days and is still going strong. Take One: Day Fourteen Green Sandals

Happy Monday friends! I hope you had a fabulous weekend! I spent some quality time with friends in the great outdoors this weekend as we hit the Caddo River for a little canoeing excursion. Party pics and fun times were documented on Instagram.

So, the remix mastery continues on day fourteen of the Take One, Pass It On wardrobe challenge where I passed on my fabulous bright green sandals. I picked these up from Zara while we were in Paris last month. I still can’t believe we were actually there. So cray. Anyhoo – I love these because they have a chunkier heel that makes them wearable all day but they also add a fun color pop to any outfit. I paired with my high waisted wide leg Gap jean, a white tee and pale pink blazer for a little polished 70’s inspired outfit.

Take One: Day Thirteen The LBD

The Little Black Dress is getting some play for this Take One, Pass It On challenge. So, here we are on day thirteen where I remixed the LBD by layering a printed blouse underneath and finishing off the look with a fun bright green sandal. I could probably do a week's worth of LBD styling posts because I seriously wear this frock constantly. I can't promise this won't be seen again at some point in the next couple of weeks through the remainder of this challenge.

I think we all knew the black blazer was going to be remixed for day twelve of the Take One, Pass It On challenge. I've said this time and time again but blazers really are a MUST have for every closet. A multi-seasonal and incredibly versatile piece. I love the structure and the femininity of the shoulder gathering detail on this one from Zara. I mixed it up with an LBD and leopard pumps for a chic office look. Ding!

Take One: Day Eleven White Tank

For day eleven of the Take One, Pass It On challenge I remixed the white tank with my black blazer and hot pink pants. Can you believe that I’m eleven days in and this is the first time I've worn a blazer? I know.

I must say though, as much as I love this remixed ensemble, it definitely looked better in my head. I think it’s the fit of the pant. Blogging has helped me realize that some cuts just aren’t that flattering on me. I think it’s where the waist hits on these. But the pinkness, friends! Such a great color! Clearly, I didn’t follow Tim Gunn’s rule: try everything on before buying. Slight fashion fail, but alas I shall carry on.

It's time to bust out your white jeans, friends. I've been waiting to wear them since I bought these skimmer Gap jeans last week. I paired with a fun color pop pump for perfect casual date night. A fun cardi is always a great layering piece for cool evening on the patio.

Day nine! Woo! I remixed the polka dot blouse for a more casually cool look on the ninth day of the Take One, Pass It On wardrobe remix challenge. This outfit was inspired by a look I saw in the J.Crew catalog a couple of months ago that paired a black and white top with green pants. I'm also a big fan of mixing prints so just before I walked out the door I grabbed the striped cardi to add a little extra something.

I have lots happening this weekend including volunteering for the Spring Tour of Homes sponsored by the Quapaw Quarter Association. This year the tour is featuring houses from the Park Hill neighborhood in North Little Rock and my in-laws house is part of the tour! So fun! Happy Friday everyone! So, I decided to pass on the black vest for the eighth day of the Take One, Pass It On remix challenge. I changed it up by layering the vest over a polka dot blouse and pairing it with black slacks and a wide belt for another office look. I also added the leopard pump to, you know, mix it up and keep it fun!

Hi friends! I am so enjoying this Take One, Pass It On remix challenge. And while I've gotten some "Hey, didn't you wear that yesterday" looks, I've also sparked some interest among a few friends and coworkers about this challenge. Inspo is what it's all about, right!?! So I decided to remix my Sam Edelman cap toe smoking loafers for day six. I can't say enough great things about these shoes. I love a good flat that I can wear for a 16 hour day and the cap toe adds a little unexpected personality. You know what I did not pass on though, my spray tan. #springfail

Take One: Day Five The Leopard Dress

I confess. I skipped Sunday. To be fair though, I didn’t really leave the house. Instead, the peoples came over for a little mid afternoon Cinco de Mayo celebration. But now I’m back on track! Yesterday I remixed my leopard dress from Saturday for the fifth day of the Take One, Pass It On challenge. I know you have seen me wear this dress a ridiculous number of times but it’s just that fab y’all. Of course, I love the leopard print but mostly I love it because it’s comfortable and so versatile. I mixed it up by layering a white button-up underneath and adding a cardi and pearls for a little 50's/60’s inspired silhouette. Quick, someone call Don Draper and hand me a long cig or a stick of butter.

We've had a bit of a cool/rainy spell over the weekend so I passed on this peach coat for day four of the Take One, Pass It On challenge. This is one of my all time favorite pieces. It's simple, such a lovely understated color and I adore the feminine details of the gathered shoulder. I had my KATV segment early Saturday morning and wore the coat with my leopard dress, another piece that gets A LOT of wear, over to the studio.

So, winter decided to give one last encore before spring finally takes center stage. No worries, it didn't prevent me from remixing my bright yellow spring statement necklace for day three of the Take One, Pass it On challenge. I love how accessories can change the entire feel of an outfit. A statement necklace can add color or bring out colors in your ensemble and bring new life into old favorites. Take One: Day Two White Button Up

Okay, so clearly I need to work on some new poses but until I refine my "modeling" skills, let's discuss day two of the Take One, Pass It On challenge. I passed on my white button up and paired it with my new navy pants, a statement necklace and leopard pumps for an office approp outfit. I should also note that my 8 to 5 is in a pretty conservative office environment which is another challenging part of this well, challenge. Great staple pieces like pencil skirts and button ups really can be worn in a million different ways and help extend your wardrobe. Investing in great quality basics is always a good idea.
