Christmas 2012 is on its way! Although the Liv Dolls have been discontinued, they are still going to be a hot item for Christmas 2012. They also may become a valuable collectors item one day. Unfortunately there have been no new Liv Doll sets for a while, but I am going to give everyone a recap of the Liv Doll sets that are in production so you can still try to get the whole collection by Christmas time.

I’m going to give you a history of all of the Liv Doll sets here so that you can pick out which items you should get for Christmas. This may be your last chance to get hold of some of the original Liv Doll sets, and I would hate for anyone to miss out!

The Original Liv Doll Set

The original Liv Doll set features the four Liv Girls – Daniela, Katie, Sophie, and Alexis. This set was the first launch of the Liv Girls by Spin Master, and they were on pace to be competitors with Barbie. The dolls looked more realistic than Barbie dolls, they have more different and unique personalities, and they offer better role models for young kids. For example, Liv Doll Daniela loves music and hopes she can become famous one day.

Liv Dolls with Dogs Set

The second Liv Doll set released by Spin Master was the Liv Dolls with Dogs set. It featured a whole new line of Daniela, Sophie, Alexis, and Katie with their dogs. Sophie’s dog was named Frizzy. Alexis’ dog was named Lacy. Katie’s dog was named SK8 (since Katie likes to go skating) and Daniela’s dog was named DJ.

This is one of my favorite sets, because even some of the dogs have their own outfits! This set showed that the Liv Dolls were a serious collectors item, and it helped launch them into higher levels of popularity. If you want to check out all of the Liv Dolls with their dogs, go here. Liv Doll After School Set

The Liv Doll After School set was the set where a new Liv Doll appeared – Hayden. Hayden loves nature and animals, and she offered a great new personality for the Liv Dolls. In this after school set, the Liv Girls look dressed up in their school attire, and they look like they are ready to have some fun!

This set not only features the five girls in awesome outfits, it was the first set to come complete with accessories for each girl. These accessories helped define their personalities even more! There was a boutique window display for Alexis (the fashion expert). There was a pet adoption center for Hayden (the animal lover). There was a drum set (my favorite!) for Daniela since is a rocker. The Liv Doll Outdoor Fashion Set

The Liv Doll Outdoor Fashion set was a set that featured the Liv Girls in outdoor gear. We previously saw all of the girls with their dogs, and then Spin Master (the makers of Liv Dolls) introduced some other horses into the mix. The horses really took off in their popularity! Katie’s horse was named Walnut. Hayden’s horse was named Clover. There was also a separate horse that came with no dolls called Nutmeg.

In this set, the girls came with a bunch of new great accessories. An entire playset called the Liv Doll Eco Lodge playset was introduced. The girls also came equipped with accessories such as butterfly catchers, an acoustic guitar, and an entire set of the dolls called the “It’s my nature” gift set. Liv Winter Format Set

The Winter Formal set was one of the first speciality sets of the Liv Girls. This set only features the first four Liv Dolls. I’m not sure why they excluded Hayden, but the girls look amazing!

Winter Formal Alexis is wearing a stunning red dress and high heels. Winter Format Katie has on some leggings and a skirt. Winter Format Sophie is wearing a purple dress with a small overcoat. My favorite is Winter Formal Daniela. She has a beautiful green dress with a reversible wig. It totally matches her rock and roll lifestyle. Liv Dolls in Wonderland Set

The next set of Liv Dolls is their Wonderland set. This set is another speciality set released by Spin Master. It features all five of the Liv Girls as different characters from Alice in Wonderland!

This set is a great buy for Wonderland fans. Alexis is the Queen of Hearts, and she is wearing a pretty black dress with a red top. She also carries a flamingo in her hands. Sophie is Alice, and she is wearing a white and blue skirt. Her hair is a beautiful blonde mixed with blue color. Daniela is the White Queen, and boy does she look like one! She’s wearing a glamorous white dress in this collection. Katie is the Mad Hatter in the group, and she has my favorite outfit on. Her outfit is a checkered pink and purple dress combination with a top hat. It is very cute on her. The last one in the group is Hayden, and she is White Rabbit. Liv Dolls Making Waves Set

The Liv Making Waves series features the girls having some fun in the sun! This series also marks the beginning of a new Liv Doll – Jake! Jake is the first guy Liv Doll, and all of the Liv Girls are definitely crushing on him.

The Making Waves series has the girls in their swimsuits, and they definitely look fabulous. My favorite part of this set was definitely the addition of Jake, but I was also excited to see some new accessories come up. In this set, a cabana with a chair was introduced. Spin Master also released a surfer accessory, which was a surfboard with a sail! The final accessory in this series of the Liv Girls was a kayak and lifejacket. Liv Dolls Twist and Dance Set

The Twist and Dance Set was one of the most fun releases of the Liv Dolls. In this set, the dolls had new joints that allowed them to dance with music! This was the final set that featured all five of the Liv Girls.

The outfits in this set were really awesome, and it definitely looks like the girls are about to go have a night of fun on the town. Katie is dressed in a bright yellow outfit with radical purple hair. Daniela, being the rocker of the group, has a crazy skirt on with frazzled hair. Sophie has a blue party outfit on and really bright pink hair (go figure!). Alexis has camo-style pants on and bright blue hair. Liv Doll Spa Set

The Spa set was the last official Liv Doll set that was released, and boy did the Liv Girls go out with a bang! This set was awesome, and it featured the girls at a salon. The girls hair colors were changed, and their nail color could be changed by dipping it in water.

The set came with an entire spa playset that was sold separately. It had tons of accessories, like a perm chair, a hairdryer, and towels and masks. Each one of the girls in this set – Sophie, Daniela, and Alexis – had robes that came with them along with exquisite gowns for their day at the spa. If you really like pampering your Liv Girls, this is the set for you. It’s unfortunate that this was the last set released by Spin Master. What Are You Getting for Christmas 2013?

Are you going to continue to buy the Liv Girls through Christmas? If so, let me know. I think they will become a collectors item even though they have been discontinued.

In May 2012, it was said that the Liv Dolls were being discontinued for 2012. It appears that Spin Master has not profited as much as hoped on the Liv Dolls. This is too bad, as I was a huge fan of them!

I heard that the Liv Dolls were being replaced by a new line of dolls, called the La Dee Da Dolls. I have not yet bought a La Dee Da Doll, but from what I can tell, they appear to be very similar to the Liv Dolls!

It is really sad to see the Liv Dolls go… for now. Let’s hope that maybe Spin Master will continue them sometime later! Or perhaps we should all switch to La Dee Da Dolls!

Liv Doll Making Waves Series

The Making Waves series is a new Liv Doll set introduced this year. It has the Liv Girls in their beach outfits. Along with this, the dolls are also ready for a long day at the lake in the sun.

This series is cool, because a boy doll was finally added to the set! His name is Jake. He is the lifeguard, and he rescues any of the Liv Girls that get into trouble. I have not heard of more versions of Jake, but Spin Master has released an outfit for him. It is the Night Outfit for Jake, and it comes with a flower and chocolate box! I still don’t know if there are more plans for boy dolls, but I hope they make them.

The Making Waves series also comes with many different accessories. One of them is a cabana, which gives the dolls some shade to sit in. Another accessory is the Making Waves kayak, which comes with a life vest and a kayak paddle. Another fun accessory is the windsurfer! Tt also comes with a paddle and a life vest. With all of these fun and new accessories, this has to be one of the most complete series yet. Along with this, the girls just look fabulous in their swim suits. Although some think the bathing suits are too revealing, I think that they are just modest enough so that they don’t cross the line. Liv Doll Twist and Dance Series

My second choice for Christmas 2011 is the Liv Doll Twist and Dance Set. This set is pretty unique in comparison to all of the other Liv Doll sets. The dolls actually have different joints for dancing! The dolls have special joints that now allow them to dance with their hips. The doll is held by the legs, and when the legs are moved, the hips shift. It actually looks like the girls are dancing. To see an example of the Liv Girls dancing, check out the video.

Something that is not shown in the video is that the wigs of the dolls can be reversed! The wigs have a normal color on one side and a wild vibrant color on the other side. The reversed wigs match the crazy outfits of these dolls better. As you can see above, Katie is wearing some cool yellow leggings and Daniela of course looks like a rocker in her outfit.

Unfortunately, I have heard some bad things about these dolls that you should know. First, these dolls do NOT have knees that bend. This means the dolls can’t sit down in their normal positions. The reason for not allowing the knees to bend was so that the dolls could perform their dance moves. Other than this, I have not heard many other complaints about the set. Personally, I think the outfits are a good reason to buy the set

One interesting side note – another Liv boy was planned for this set, but it was never released! You can actually see pictures of this online, and it is sad that they tricked everyone

Liv Doll Spa Set

The Liv Doll Spa Set is the newest available set, and I think it will be the hottest one for Christmas! It is the awesome set from 2011. It is amazing how each set of this year has had so many cool dolls and accessories. The spa set is one of the most unique ever. It features the dolls in two different outfits – a dress for going to the spa and a robe to wear at the spa. As you can see, some of the dolls have streaks in their wigs. Did you know that these streaks can be colored by you? Yes, that’s correct! If you brush water over their hair (with the brush accessory that comes with it), the streaks will start to show up. The same thing happens with their fingernails. If you want to see this, check out the video.

The commercial shows all of five dolls, but I have only seen three of the dolls available on the internet. Along with the main dolls, a huge spa accessory can be bought. The spa accessory has tons of different parts, like a face mask, nail polish, shampoo bottles, chairs, a bowl for their fingernails, towels, and head wraps for after they get their hair done.

Liv Doll Styling Heads

One of the latest accessories that was released in 2011 include the life-size styling heads. These heads have wigs which can be styled and worn by a young girl!

There is currently an Alexis styling head and a Sophie styling head. There are also other life-sized accessories that come with the doll head, such as jewelry, earrings, and makeup. If your child wants to cut the hair of the wig, it’s totally fine! There are replacement wigs that can be bought and used more times. Check out the video below to see these styling heads.

There are many Liv Doll products available right now. Is it hard for you to decide which ones you should get for your child on Christmas? Liv Doll Twist and Dance Series

The second item on my Christmas 2011 gifts is the Liv Doll Twist and Dance Set. This set is quite different than all of the other Liv Doll sets. Other than the knees not bending, I have not heard many other complaints about the set. Personally, I believe that the outfits are a good enough reason to purchase the dolls

Liv Doll Spa Set

To the best of my knowledge, the Liv Doll Spa Set is the latest available set in 2011. I have heard of rumors of other sets to be released before Christmas, but I have not seen them in stores. I will keep you updated about this though when I do hear about it.

Anyways, the Liv Doll Spa Set is the third killer set from 2011. It amazes me how each set of this year has shown so many interesting dolls and accessories. The spa set is one of the most interesting in this regard. It features the dolls in their spa outfits. Each doll comes with a dress for going to the spa, and a robe to wear while they are there. As you can see from the picture above, some of the dolls have streaks in their hair. Did you know that these streaks are activated by water? Yes, that’s right! If you brush water over their hair, the streaks show up. Also, their finger nail color is activated by water. If you are curious to see this, check out the video below to see how it works.

If your child decides to trim the hair of the wig, it’s totally fine. There are replacement wigs that can be bought and used again on the styling heads. Isn’t is neat? I think it is a very interesting way to popularize the dolls and make them more interactive with kids. I wonder if Spin Master will release actual life-sized clothes. I hope they do
