As you can see, LiveDesk speaks different languages. We are starting with english, german and russian. Of course we are planning to add more later on.

Folder groups

In this two cutouts you see two “folder groups” (as we call them) and how you can manipulate them. You can easily sort and close this foldergroups as you wish.

More on the concept of folder groups later.

Tabbing

You would like to open multiple emails, or write an e-mail while another one is open? No problem with LiveDesk! We built in a tab-navigation which allows you to open as many emails as you wish at one time.

Sorting and marking emails in the list

In LiveDesk you can sort your emails in the list by all of the given informations: subject, sender, recipient, date and size. It is even possible to sort by two of this parameters.

We also implemented a handy way to mark emails as read and unread. A single click on the green/grey symbol in front of the subject of the email marks it as read or unread.

This will cause a delay of some seconds before the mail module is shown.

In the background when you go to the mail module.
No delay, but in the first moment you only see mails that have already been downloaded before. After some seconds, the new mails are added to the list.

Manually.
The mail list is refreshed, when you click the “refresh”-button in the mail module. Untill then, you only see mails that have already be downloaded before.
(Of course it is possible to refresh manually at any time later while you are logged in to LiveDesk.)

Today we are getting technical. The subject of this post is the relationship between your IMAP mail account and LiveDesk and how they should effect each other.

We are thinking about the following three options and would like to hear your opinions:

Pop3 simulation
LiveDesk is only getting new mails from your server-side inbox, other folders on the server are ignored. You can have your own folder structure in LiveDesk which is not synchronised with the servers structure.

Pop3 simulation extended
LiveDesk is getting new mails from all folders on the server. These mails are synchronised to your LiveDesk inbox where you can sort them into folders.

Full IMAP implementation
Everything you change in LiveDesk - folders and mails - is synchronised with the server and vice versa.

Which of these options would you prefer?

While developing LiveDesk we are constantly looking at well established webmail software to offer all features you know and use. Nevertheless at some points we ask ourselfes “Is anybody really using this?”.

One of this features is the “select bar”. Many webmail applications are offering it to select emails in the list. Lets see some examples.

Our question: Is anyone using these options to select emails from the list and, if yes, which ones?
