Lisa Blumenthal won the spots in the city's Back Bay neighborhood during an on-site auction Thursday held in a steady rain by the Internal Revenue Service. The IRS had seized the spots from a man who owed back taxes.

Blumenthal, who lives in a multimillion-dollar home near the parking spaces, tells The Boston Globe she didn't expect the bidding to go quite so high for the spots she says will come in handy for guests and workers.

The record for a single spot in Boston is $300,000.

The median price of a single-family home in Massachusetts is $313,000.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/Ql9nyItRSGk" height="1" width="1"/>

<p><img width="412" height="273" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Afro-Candy.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="Afro-Candy" /></p>It is not a rumour, but reality. Some movie marketers are jostling to win the right to sell Afrocandy’s controversial “Destructive Instinct’ movie in Nigeria.

The American based Nollywood actress cum singer confirmed this development to HVP yesterday morning when she was contacted via facebook.

“Destructive Instinct” which is currently being greeted with mixed-reactions from fans features the 41-year old mother of 2 completely nude in sexually explicit positions as she tries to make a daring impact on the industry

HVP gathered that some reputable marketers are already giving Afrocandy the headache in choosing who will eventually win the right to distribute her movie in the country. The film was premiered in America recently. Those who graced the premiere said, it was well attended.

Meanwhile, it is unclear if the censors board will pass the film for sale in Nigeria.

<p><img width="250" height="166" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Super-Eagles-after-defeating-the-Elephants-2-1-in-Rustenburg-South-Africa...-on-Sunday.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="Super-Eagles-after-defeating-the-Elephants-2-1-in-Rustenburg-South-Africa...-on-Sunday" /></p>Atlanta ’96 Olympic Games gold medallist Garba Lawal says Nigeria should not be written off as FIFA Confederations Cup title contenders, insisting the Super Eagles can pull off a surprise performance at the tournament.

The competition at tagged Festival of Champions kicks off in Brazil on Saturday with the 2014 World Cup hosts taking on Japan in the opening match.

Brazil and world champions Spain are leading the champions of the six continents in the championship, which is a dress rehearsal for next year’s World Cup.

The Eagles begin their campaign against Oceania champions Tahiti in Belo Horizonte on Monday and Lawal is confident the team can go all the way.

Lawal, who represented Nigeria at the France ’98 and Korea/Japan 2002 World Cups, said the Eagles boast quality players to pick up victories against their tough Group B opponents Spain and Uruguay.

He said the national team fans have no cause to worry about the star-studded Spain side boasting Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Fernando Torres, Juan Mata, David Villa and David Silva, as well as Uruguay’s prolific scorers Edinson Cavani and Luis Suarez.

“In football anything can happen and I believe the Eagles have a chance to win the competition,” Lawal told our correspondent on the telephone on Friday.

“Yes, Iniesta, Xavi and Cavani are world-class players but we also have big players in our team. They only need to believe in themselves.

“Winning our first game (against Tahiti) in the competition is very important and the Eagles should give their best in the encounter, because it will decide their fate in the tournament.

“It (victory) will give the team much-needed boost of confidence for their next match (against Uruguay on June 20) and anything can happen.”

The much-travelled former Lobi stars player rejected suggestions the Eagles should focus on World Cup qualification and enjoy themselves at the Confederations Cup.

Lawal, who plied his trade in Tunisia, Greece, Holland, Sweden, China and Portugal before hanging up his boots last year, said playing in the tournament will help coach Stephen Keshi in his rebuilding process.

“The Confederations Cup experience will be of great benefit to the players and help Keshi, too,” the ex-Roda star, who represented Nigeria at four editions of Africa Cup of Nations (2000, 2002, 2004 and 2006), said.

“The Eagles should aim to win the tournament because they are a fantastic side. Many didn’t give them a chance to win the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.”

<p><img width="360" height="225" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/British-Prime-Minister-David-Cameron-360x225.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="British-Prime-Minister-David-Cameron-360x225" /></p>British Prime Minister, David Cameron, on Friday said his government might consider cutting off aid to Nigeria over same sex marriage bill passed by the House of Representatives on Thursday. The Senate had passed its own version in November 2011.

Cameron spoke on a <i>British Broadcasting Corporation </i>programme monitored in Lagos.

He said he would take up the issue with President Goodluck Jonathan soon.

The prime minister said he would restate his government’s strong objection to the passage of the bill.

The prime minister was reacting to a question by a Nigerian resident in London, Bisi.

“When we meet with Nigerian politicians and leaders, we will be clear about those things we agreed on. We have to be clear where we disagree. We will make clear where we stand on those issues,” he said.

When asked whether Britain would consider stopping a projected 50 per cent increase in aid to Nigeria or cutting it outright, Cameron said, “Nothing is off the table. We need to have these conversations. We also have some very important objectives with Nigerians, for instance on how to deal with the appalling rates of poverty in Northern Nigeria, which are part of the problems confronting the country.”

Britain and some Western Nation had previously expressed opposition to the bill.

Cameron had in October 2011 threatened to cut off aid to countries which ban gay and lesbians.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/ZIVvQzBaXqY" height="1" width="1"/>

<p><img width="400" height="300" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/jail10.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="jail" /></p>DIRECTOR of the State Security Service (SSS) in Delta State, Mrs. Florence Ikanone, yesterday paraded a 27-year-old graduate of Accountancy from Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku, Mr. Philip Urieh, for allegedly impersonating Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan on the social networking site, facebook.

She said the suspect, a native of Uzere in Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, was recently arrested by operatives of the state command following painstaking surveillance that was mounted on him as a result of series of reports received on the subject.

According to the Director, the suspect through the facebook platform allegedly defrauded unsuspecting persons to the tune of over N5 million by opening a facebook account with the name and picture of Governor Uduaghan which he uses to deceive his clients, promising them juicy contracts and government appointments.

“The suspect’s modus operandi is that he receives messages and responds to them as if he were the executive governor. He defrauded one Felix from Agbor through the facebook account to the tune N1.2 million on the promise of making him to sponsor beauty pageant.

“In addition, he paid N600,000 for billboards, praising the governor; N480,000 to be given to Chief of Staff; N540,000 for repairs of a Kia salon car belonging to subject; and he was equally instructed to pay N500,000 to be given to the Speaker of the State House of Assembly to ease his screening as a commissionership candidate,” said the SSS boss.

<p><img width="250" height="229" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Malawi-coach-Eddington-Ng’onamo.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="Malawi-coach-Eddington-Ng’onamo" /></p>Malawi coach Eddington Ng’onamo insists the Flames have not given up hope of claiming a place in the final round of the 2014 World Cup qualifiers despite the South-East African country trailing Nigeria in Group F by two points with one game to go.

Ng’onamo said on Friday the Flames will do everything possible to progress in the qualifiers.

“We will try everything to throw Nigeria off balance and we will deploy all methods to achieve our ambitions,” he was quoted by <i>Nyasa Times </i>as saying.

Ng’onamo had conceded the ticket to the Super Eagles after Kenya held his team to a 2-2 in Blantyre on Wednesday, but Nigeria’s surprise 1-1 draw with Namibia in the other group fixture in Windhoek later in the day revived Malawi’s qualification hopes.

The Eagles would have booked their passage to the final round with victory over Namibia.

Nigeria lead the group on nine points, two ahead of Malawi. The winner of the group will be decided in the final match between the two teams in Calabar on September 6. The Flames will need to win to sail through while a draw will be enough for the African champions.

Malawi had celebrated a Robert Ng’ambi’s goal 10 minutes before regulation time only to be heartbroken when substitute Chimango Kayira scored an own goal and Ng’onamo lamented the development.

“This is a painful result. And effectively the Flames’ dreams to qualify for the World Cup is over,” he said.

“That is end of the road, our players lacked concentration.”

But Ng’onamo made a U-turn as Nigeria failed to beat Namibia to become the first country to reach the final round comprising five home-and-away ties with the winners qualifying for Brazil.

Reacting to the result of the Windhoek clash, Ng’anoma said “what a relief”.

He added, “It’s not over yet. We have to go back to the drawing board and see how we are going to approach the last game in Nigeria.”

Former Malawi captain Peter Mponda predicted victory for the Flames in Calabar.

Anything can happen, who knew Nigeria were going to be held by Namibia. That should be a motivation,” he said.

Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi, who rued his team’s missed against Namibia, promised to finish the job in September.

“I have no doubt that we will qualify for the World Cup,” the Tunisia ’94 Africa Cup of Nations winner said.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/NxiHeRQuBmk" height="1" width="1"/>

According to reports, Tade Ogidan is fond of battering his wife and mother of his three kids, Yetunde – the photo above was taken on Thursday after being badly beaten by him!

To think that a man of such high profile whose movies always centre on love, family, and unity, would stoop so low as to lay hands on his wife.

The elder brother would beat both the friend and the sister. That was the sort of position I was in. I still collected the beatings because when you are blinded with love, you would stick with the boy no matter what. Eventually, we were so in love for a long time.”

<b>On how she reacts to criticisms: </b>I’ll tell you the truth, I’m indifferent. I have developed a thick skin. I would not say that from the outset it never affected me. But it didn’t mean I put my hand under my cheek and started brooding.

I was just worried why this sort of thing happened. I am a solutions kind of person and so I started looking for solutions. I found out that there was no solution.

Whether you like it or not, people must talk about you. The more mysterious you are, the more stories would be woven around you. I figured that you win some and lose some, you cannot have it all.

The day you are the focus of the press, you just say by God’s grace, this too shall pass. I don’t like it when people form an opinion about me out of negative publicity, especially when it is not true and it affects my career.

That is the part I don’t like because I believe everybody puts a lot of hard work into their music. That’s why I always tell people, I’m not an angel. That is why I encourage people to just enjoy the music.

It is the music I am giving you, not my personal life, not who I am.

<b>What influences her fashion sense</b>

I try to be comfortable and look good as much as I can. It is not easy but I try. I’m not much of a fashion icon. I just know you wear fine blouse or skirt. I find it difficult to accessorise or match colours. I don’t know all those type of things. I started hearing it when I came to Lagos. I am a Warri girl.

Before now, I was all about my shirt and jeans. Some people say they like Omawumi but they wish I would dress better or that I need a stylist. I would tell you that it is fine.

I wish I would have a stylist, but in a situation where I don’t have one, as I dress, take it like that.

The most important thing is that I am putting out good music. The minute I become a 360 artiste – where I am selling my fashion as well as my music, then you can criticize but till then, accept me as I am.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/8SzfbPeRALg" height="1" width="1"/>

Bulent Tulun, who is Gala’s sporting director, confirmed that the Nigerian midfielder, has agreed in principle to move to the club.

Foremost analyst and FIFA instructor, Colin Udoh, who spoke to Obi and his agent, John Shittu, also tweeted: “My take from that Mikel convo is that if Chelsea and Gala agree, he will not be averse to a move if the money is right”

Obi is expected to replace Brazilian midfielder Felipe Melo, who is expected to leave the club.

It is left to be seen, if Jose Mourinho – who converted Obi to a deep-lying midfielder in his first tenure – sees him as a vital component to his team, or will allow him leave Stamford Bridge.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/RbpjZe9Mp2Q" height="1" width="1"/>

Newly appointed Comptroller General, Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, Mr David Parradang who made the declaration at the CGIS parade in Abuja, said the NIS would rely on cutting edge technologies to address migration issues.

Parradang stated his intentions and vision for the immigration service and promised to appropriate best technologies that will be sustainable to suit into the challenges of Nigeria’s environment and country at large.

“Here we cannot continue doing the same thing and expect a different result. We have to think out and think through new ideas of border patrolling to contribute to National security. We must professionally utilize the mix of vigorous and professional border patrolling and internal immigration control. We will not blindly or brutally remove irregular immigrants but it will be done after a process that is targeted, powered by intelligence, and data.

“We are at the age of appropriating the best technologies to do our job of modern migration. We will rely on cutting edge technologies that are practicable in our environment Nigeria to transform the Nigeria Immigration Service. These technologies must not be substandard but the best and sustainable ones well tailored to the peculiarities of our country in terms of the environment and the challenges of our country.

“We have also the pillar of the service, clean and uncorrupted premised on Nigeria’s interest. These are broad pillars, that countless strategy sessions will be held to fine tune them. I am confident that the zeal, passion, enthusiasm in you will be available to be marshalled to achieve these lofty goals”, Parradang stated.

He further called on the Nigeria Immigration Service to work together with him as a team in providing the best services that will be of interest to Nigeria. Also task the officers to conform to global practices, focused, discipline and incorruptible in the dissemination of their duties.

“I am the team leader, I am willing, I am capable and ready to work with you to achieve all these possible goals. The time to bicker is over. All we have to do is to come together and deliver a Nigeria Immigration service that conforms to global best practices, that is focused, that is discipline, that is incorruptible, that is committed to providing service to Nigeria interest.

“We are very conscious of the role in the security matrix of the nation. We will work with all other security organs to manage and solve Nigerian’s peculiar security challenges”, Parradang said.

Staffers are trying to terminate the couple’s parental rights.</p>

<div itemprop="articleBody">

A sex addict Michigan dad repeatedly raped his toddler daughter as his wife held her hand to calm her down, police said.

The 27-year-old, who cannot be named to protect the girl, allegedly confessed to cops that he sexually assaulted the 3-year-old “too many times to remember.”

The sickening acts were carried out over a period of six months in front of the girl’s mom, who reportedly soothed her hands “so it wouldn’t hurt so much.”

It’s also claimed he took illicit pictures of the girl “for his own sexual gratification,” forced her to watch disgusting child porn and had showers with her.

The couple, who lived at the Avalon Hotel in Jackson, are believed to have abused the girl between late last year until May.

Social services were called in May 7 after reports she was displaying “sexualized behavior,” had asked her brother for sex and wanted to watch a porn movie.

The man was arrested by Blackman-Leoni Township public safety detectives on Thursday and arraigned on 12 counts of first-degree sexual misconduct.

He allegedly confessed to cops that he attempted to have sex with his daughter six times, but that in reality it occurred “too many times to remember.”

His wife, who revealed she had been sexually abused by her husband, reportedly admitted to helping him perpetrate the crimes.

The graphic details were revealed in a Department of Human Service petition. Staffers are trying to terminate the couple’s parental rights.

Police continue to investigate. The wife has so far not been charged with any crime, reports MLive.

The boys sustained injuries from the accident and were subsequently rushed to the school’s health centre by the professor.

The incident happened on Monday shortly after Mr. Awonusi had just presided over the 2013 University of Lagos debate.

At about 9.40 p.m. on Monday, Ibe Leonard, 25, of the Faculty of Education and his friend, Nwonu Somtochukwu, 21, of the Psychology Department, rammed their built for speed bike into the SUV which Mr. Awonusi was driving at the New Hall express road of the University.

The professor, shocked and furious at the young men’s carelessness, scolded them and along with two other students, rushed them to the medical centre.

A school officer who confirmed the incident to PREMIUM TIMES on the condition of anonymity said Mr. Leonard, the bike rider, fractured his right leg.

He was transferred, late Monday night, to the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, for appropriate treatment. His condition could have been worse if he was not wearing a helmet, the source said.

Ironically, Mr. Somtochukwu, who was riding at the back and was not using a helmet, was lucky to have sustained minor injuries.

He got treated at the medical center as the staff were confident of their capability to take care of him.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor (Management and Services), Duro Oni, and Mr. Awonusi, visited Mr. Somtochukwu at the medical centre. They gave him N10, 000 as emergency fund in case he needed to get anything to facilitate the treatment of his friend at the Igbobi hospital.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/-MAtnkJ9BDw" height="1" width="1"/>

<p><img width="660" height="371" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/VaccineShots.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="VaccineShots" /></p>Miami police are searching for a Venezuelan doctor who performed butt surgery on a 28-year-old woman – which allegedly led to her death.

Suyima Torres was going into surgery for her second round of treatment for gluteus augmentation on April 11 at the Cuerpos Health and Aesthetic Clinic, located on the second floor of a shopping center, the Miami Herald reported. A friend had recommend the clinic to her.

According to the Florida Department of Health, the clinic is only authorized to operate as a massage salon, but the center’s Facebook page claims they employ certified plastic surgeons.

Torres received her first treatment at the clinic on April 1, paying the doctor $1,500 in cash. According to her parents, the doctor initially told her she would have to wait a month for the next treatment, but that day he said her inflammation was gone – and Torres could return the next week.

Paying $800 in cash for the second treatment, Torres returned alone to the clinic on April 11 at 9 a.m. After the treatment was over, she complained that she felt dizzy, according to Ruth Planas, the clinic’s owner. Planas called an ambulance, which transported Torres to Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables.

Torres was pronounced dead at 9:50 p.m. of a lung embolism, the Miami Herald said.

Authorities said they are investigating the death as a homicide in relation to Torres’ surgery. The identity of the alleged doctor has not been revealed.<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/3VWqYbROA-I" height="1" width="1"/>

<p><img width="660" height="371" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/Beer_poured_450.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="Beer_poured_450" /></p>Some men who take the drug finasteride (Propecia) to slow a receding hair line may also find it reduces their interest in drinking alcohol, new research reveals.

Almost two-thirds of the men in the study noticed they were drinking less alcohol than before taking Propecia, said study researcher Dr. Michael Irwig, an endocrinologist and assistant professor of medicine at George Washington University School of Medicine.

But the decrease in drinking seen in the study may not be found in all men who use the popular hair-loss treatment. (A higher dose of finasteride is also prescribed to men for an enlarged prostate, and is sold as Proscar.)

The study, which was aimed at better understanding the drug's sexual side effects, looked at only younger men, ages 46 and under, who had quit taking the medication for male-pattern hair loss for at least three months, yet continued to experience effects such as a reduced sex drive and erectile dysfunction.

<p><img width="620" height="430" src="http://www.liveinnaija.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/torres.jpg" class="attachment-post-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="torres" /></p>The 29-year-old is pleased to be linked with the Catalans but insists he remains loyal to Chelsea, and is looking forward to working with new boss Jose Mourinho

Fernando Torres admits he is flattered by reports linking him with a summer move to Barcelona, but insists he will talk with new Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho before deciding his future.

Torres enjoyed his most productive season at Stamford Bridge last term, scoring 23 goals in all competitions, but still fell way short of the expectations that have dogged him since his £50 million [€59m] arrival from Liverpool.

This week <strong>Goal</strong> revealed Chelsea's offer of the 29-year-old plus €40m for Napoli striker Edinson Cavani had been rejected, while Barcelona have also been linked with bringing the Spaniard back to his homeland.

But while Torres revealed in an interview with <em>AS</em> that he is pleased to still be linked to top European clubs, he is determined to talk with Mourinho before making any firm decisions.

"It's always nice a club like that is interested," Torres said of Barcelona. "But I want to stay and will talk to Mourinho later".

Mourinho has pledged to help Torres rediscover his best form if he remains at Stamford Bridge, and this is an idea that appeals to the 29-year-old too.

"Mourinho's words are motivation for me," he added. "I want to stay at Chelsea, I have contract, I want to be the best at my position, and I don't think there is a better place to be.

"Mourinho has won far more than many of us. It's a new challenge and I am looking forward to it."<img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/liveinnaija/uYXh/~4/_wNRO9Sjmmo" height="1" width="1"/>
