In the present day scenario, where stress and tension are nearly as common as are oxygen and water, exercise plays a very important role in helping us fight these undesirables. We must understand and give a lot of importance to the exercise schedule and the equipment used.

Just like warming up and cooling down of the body are the important aspects of exercising, so is post workout recovery. However, despite being so crucial, people have little information about post workout recovery. There is a lot of debate about the ideal time that should be allowed for the body to cool down completely. As a standard, about 15 to 20 minutes after a workout is a very crucial period. This is the time when some simple nutritional interventions can play a major role in helping your body regain its strength.

The following tips brief you on some simple ways of post workout recovery:
• Take a banana or a high fructose drink to substitute the glycogen lost by the muscles during a workout. Most athletes are seen taking a high carbohydrate diet after an exercise session for this very reason.
• Take lean turkey, whey, and casein to replenish the proteins in the body.
• Take enough water to rehydrate yourself.

All these post workout recovery tips can help replenish your body well after a workout and you shall soon be ready for long sessions.

Bloating is not an uncommon word these days. Stress, bad eating habits, and sedentary lifestyles have acquainted us well with the word. Bloat is a medical condition, where there is an irregular swelling of the abdominal region with excessive gas content. Bloating can cause abdominal pain and is generally followed by abdominal noise or Borborygmus. There are several causes for bloating. Some of the most common ones are:

• Overeating or improper diet
• Constipation
• Stress
• Lactose Intolerance
• Aerophagia
• Irritable bowel syndrome
• Medicines, etc.

If any of the above mentioned causes make u feel fat or bloated, then its time you seriously take a note of the following ways to significantly beat your bloat and feel light and good:
• Drink plenty of water, as water retards bloating and helps in digestion.
• Avoid dairy products, especially if you are lactose intolerant.
• Avoid Fatty foods. Needless to add, their very name conveys the undesirable “fat.”
• Avoid or minimize the use of salt and sugar in your diet.
• Take in fruits like melons, papayas, spinach, tomatoes, etc.
• Workout
• Avoid caffeine and alcohol. Opt for chamomile, fennel, ginger, or peppermint tea instead.

It is a well-known fact that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It has been proven repeatedly that people who eat their breakfast regularly are healthier, slimmer, more alert, and eat lesser through the day, as compared to the people skipping their morning meal.

However, just having breakfast is not enough. The benefits of breakfast are directly related to the nutritional level in offers. There is a significant difference between a healthy breakfast and a not so healthy one. A breakfast that is loaded with calories will make up for not only the remaining meals by curbing your appetite for the day, but will also lead to excessive fat storage in the body. Therefore, it is important to be aware about the calories counts in your meals, especially in breakfast. Even on breakfast joints, do inquire about the nutritional value of your food. Choose accordingly.

A basic guideline for a happening breakfast is to stay clear from the foods containing unhealthy fats (hydrogenated oils), added sugars, and refined carbohydrates. They play havoc with the blood sugar and cholesterol levels, while also straining the digestive system, especially the liver. Weight gain and sluggishness are the other side effects of a heavy breakfast.

Most of the allergies are caused due to various bacteria, dust molecules, furs, and other substances (such as pollen & smoke) present in the air. These allergy triggers are referred to as allergens. If you are one of those sneezing, coughing, or developing rashes after being exposed to any of these agents, then high time you track your allergy spells. It is advisable to maintain a record of the symptoms, the frequency of occurrences, and the causatives of your allergy, in order to be able to control its eruption. Once you know what is aggravating your allergy, you should make every possible attempt to stay away from the allergens.

A few precautions that may effectively help you deal with common allergens are:
• Cover your face with a cloth when it’s dusty outside.
• Replace carpet flooring with tiles or wooden. Carpet is often a storehouse of allergy triggering bacteria, dust, and other germs.
• Clean air ducts of air conditioner regularly.
• Investing in hypoallergenic bedding may be worthwhile.
• Avoid keeping pets at home if possible. If not, lay down strict hygiene rules like washing hands regularly and the bedroom to be out of bound for pets.

Medically, Allergy Shots are available in the market these days that progressively moderate the consequences of an allergen. They aren’t however, any guarantee and may take a considerable amount of time in showing results.

Peanut Butter, a delicious and healthy spread on the morning bread, is a popular victual, endorsed to reduce the development of Type 2 Diabetes. Including five or more servings of the Peanut Butter (equivalent to five ounces of Peanuts) in a week’s diet, helps in controlling weight gain (an exception is Brazil nut, which is a significant source of harmful Saturated Fat).

The optimal serving size for the Peanut Butter is two tablespoons, and the serving size for Peanuts is about one ounce. The intake of Peanuts in conjunction with low caloric, uncooked fillers and snacks (salads or carrot sticks), makes them even more beneficial.

With all these frills of Peanuts and the Peanut Butter, comes a catch. Peanuts and the Peanut Butter are believed to be very high in caloric value. This makes the nut harmful, when indulged in excess. However, overall the benefits of Peanuts prevail and help categorize them as health food. High in Unsaturated Fat, Fiber, and Protein, Peanuts and the Peanut Butter are recognized as an ultimate snack for all ages. In fact these benefits are not limited to Peanuts, any type of nuts, when consumed in a balanced quantity, have these health benefits.

What is Cholesterol? Cholesterol is made of a waxy, organic substance called “lipid.” Cholesterol is a type of Steroid molecule. The Liver produces about 1000 milligrams of Cholesterol per day. Therefore, a healthy Cholesterol level in the body is pegged at about 100 grams.

The Need of Cholesterol in the Body.
• Cholesterol helps manufacture Vitamin-D within the body.
• The Steroid helps in the building up of Cell Walls.
• Cholesterols are responsible for the health of Glands & the formation of hormones such as Estrogen, Testosterone, and Adrenaline, in the body.
• Cholesterol is the main component of Brain Tissue.
• Cholesterol is responsible for the formation of Neurotransmitters such as mood regulating “Serotonin.”

Types of Cholesterols. Well, Cholesterol cannot flow through the blood in its “lipid” form. Therefore, it combines with Proteins to form “Lipoproteins.” These Lipoproteins or Cholesterols are of two types:
• LDL (Low-Density Lipoproteins). Commonly known as Bad Cholesterols, these Steroids choke off the Blood Vessels, which eventually prove seriously harmful for the Heart. Increased LDL therefore triggers Heart diseases.
• HDL (High-Density Lipoproteins). Commonly called as Good Cholesterols, these Steroids control the LDL level in the Blood.
• Triglycerides. These are a type of organic compound, which are also responsible for ill health.

Cholesterol Control. A high quantity of Cholesterol in the body is a sure shot insurance to ailments. Low fat diet, balanced weight, active lifestyle, and no smoking & no alcohol consumption can help regulate the Cholesterol levels in the body.

• Heart disease is caused due to some malfunctioning of Heart or the Blood Vessels, especially Arteries, connected to it.
• Heart Diseases include any of the activities in the body, adversely affecting the Heart. Heart Diseases entail Heart Attack, Coronary Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure, and Pulmonary Heart Disease, to name some.
• The commonest reasons of Heart Diseases are high Cholesterol & High Blood Pressure.
• Females are more prone to Heart Diseases as compared to males.
• Heart diseases are one of the epidemic diseases, causing most of the deaths globally.

What are the different types of Heart Diseases?
• Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). This is caused due to the narrowing of Blood Vessels.
• Heart Attack. This occurs due to the blockage of Blood Vessels, to and from the Heart.
• High Blood Pressure.
• Ischemic heart disease. This is caused due to the reduced blood flow to the Heart.
• Arrhythmias. This happens due to the disorder in the rhythm of heartbeat.
• Tachycardia. This is caused due to excessively rapid Heart Rate.
• Pulmonary Heart Diseases. These are Heart Diseases resulting due to the malfunctioning of Lungs.

Averting Heart Diseases. Healthy diet, regular exercising, and a disciplined lifestyle throughout the life, can considerably help prevent Heart Diseases.

Rheumatoid Arthritis is a type of Arthritis, which mainly affects young people, especially women. Its inveteracy makes it dangerously crippling. Just like a standard Arthritis, its rheumatoid form affects Joints, their Synovial Membranes, Cartilages, and the other Tissues connected to the Joints, or carrying blood to them.

What causes Rheumatoid Arthritis?
• Autoimmune Condition. Rheumatoid Arthritis is an autoimmune condition, in which the body attacks itself. The Antibodies generated by the Immune System to attack harmful Bacteria & Viruses instead attack the Tissues surrounding the Joints. This autoimmune response of the body causes the swelling of the Tissues, and finally their destruction.
• Genetics. What triggers the onset of Rheumatoid Arthritis in the body is not known with certainty. Some scientists however, believe that it is due to genetic factors and therefore, susceptible Genes may be involved in the initial mechanism.

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
• Pain in Joints & swelling.
• Stiffness in Joints.
• Warmth, redness, and swelling of the skin surrounding Joints.
• Loss of appetite.
• The initial symptoms of swelling & pain are seen in small Joints such as Fingers & Toes.

Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Truly speaking, there is no cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis. The medications & exercises are however, effective in relieving pain, stiffness, and/or deformity caused due to Rheumatoid Arthritis.

“Looking good is feeling good.” Most of us work towards this philosophy of life and take steps such as, balanced diet and exercises to look trim & stay fit. While doing this, we at times tend to touch or exceed the limits of the tolerance of our body, which backfires. To avoid this mistake, we must keep the following in mind, for a healthy weight loss:

Sleep. A healthy body needs proper sleep, as it relaxes and rejuvenates the body. Try to catch at least 8 hours of sleep and get in bed before midnight.

Foods. Avoid eating fattening and non-nutritious fried & fast foods. Consume a lot of natural and healthy foods such as vegetables & fruits. Do not gulp the food down your throat. Eat slowly and chew your food properly for its easy digestion in the body. In addition, eat properly. Eating less to lose weight, deprives us of the required quantity of spontaneous energy and the body may weaken.

Water: Water is the best mantra for good health, as it helps in digestion, the detoxification of body, and the transportation of nutrients to the cells.

Deep breathing: 10 fully conscious belly deep breaths help clear out all the junk from our body.

Therefore, weight loss is all about staying balanced in your life style. The right quantity of healthy food and drinks, ample sleep, and the right exercising regime, all followed as consistently as brushing your teeth, breathing, etc, is a sure shot formula for a slim, trim, and a healthy body.
