The World Renowned Business Philosopher, Jim Rohn mention that just one behavior that differentiate success from fail, NEGLECT. Below is very precious quote from him.

“We’ve all heard the expression, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” Well, I’ve got a good question for you: What if it’s true? Wouldn’t that be easy to do - to eat an apple a day? Here’s the problem: It’s also easy not to do.
……..Neglect starts out as an infection then becomes a disease.
Cardiovascular problems alone in America create over a thousand funerals a day… and 90% of the problem is neglect.
………One of the reasons many people don’t have what they want is neglect.”

Jim Rohn’s Weekly E-zine Issue 504 - July 6, 2009

Success Is Easy, But So Is Neglect

by Jim Rohn

People often ask me how I became successful in that six-year period of time while many of the people I knew did not. The answer is simple: The things I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. I found it easy to set the goals that could change my life. They found it easy not to. I found it easy to read the books that could affect my thinking and my ideas. They found that easy not to. I found it easy to attend the classes and the seminars, and to get around other successful people. They said it probably really wouldn’t matter. If I had to sum it up, I would say what I found to be easy to do, they found to be easy not to do. Six years later, I’m a millionaire and they are all still blaming the economy, the government, and company policies, yet they neglected to do the basic, easy things.

cc photo credit: magnetbox

In fact, the primary reason most people are not doing as well as they could and should, can be summed up in a single word: neglect.

It is not the lack of money - banks are full of money. It is not the lack of opportunity - America, and much of the free World, continues to offer the most unprecedented and abundant opportunities in the last six thousand years of recorded history. It is not the lack of books – libraries are full of books – and they are free! It is not the schools – the classrooms are full of good teachers. We have plenty of ministers, leaders, counselors and advisors.

Everything we would ever need to become rich and powerful and sophisticated is within our reach. The major reason that so few take advantage of all that we have is simply neglect.

Neglect is like an infection. Left unchecked it will spread throughout our entire system of disciplines and eventually lead to a complete breakdown of a potentially joy-filled and prosperous human life.

Not doing the things we know we should do causes us to feel guilty and guilt leads to an erosion of self-confidence. As our self-confidence diminishes, so does the level of our activity. And as our activity diminishes, our results inevitably decline. And as our results suffer, our attitude begins to weaken. And as our attitude begins the slow shift from positive to negative, our self-confidence diminishes even more… and on and on it goes.

So my suggestion is that when giving the choice of “easy to” and “easy not to” that you do not neglect to do the simple, basic, “easy”; but potentially life-changing activities and disciplines.

How do you evaluate the value of your business? If an investor decided they were interested in buying your business today, what would be the number one criteria to establishing what it is worth? Most business owners immediately respond with revenue or net profit as an answer. But, let me take you to the next level - - cuz revenue and net profit are a result of something bigger. The bigger I am referring to is having a list of happy satisfied clients that are practically raving fans who buy from you over and over, as well as refer you great new clients. Plus, a system to convert your current prospects into customers consistently. This little nugget of information I just shared has the power to transform how you think about and grow your business moving into 2009!

What is even more fabulous about this golden nugget is that today how we do business has changed and it will continue to change moving into 2009 based on the fastest growing industry out there – a little thing called the internet. More than ever, you as a business owner have the opportunity to utilize simple tools and techniques to grow your prospect and customer list, as well as implement time-tested formulas to convert both your prospects and customers into ongoing big paydays for you!

Here are 4 Golden Nuggets to consider tapping to grow your list from biz colleagues in your circle of influence who can help you grow your list right now through promoting you and your products and / or services!

1. A Trade

A simple old-fashioned trade: they promote you and your biz to their list before and you will do the same for them. This can be done as an affiliate relationship (where a pre-determined referral fee is paid for a new client signing up for service or purchasing products) or a strict Joint Venture whereby just simple cross-promotion is worked out with no money exchanging hands on the back-end.

I do this often for vendors I work with whom I think provide excellent service and provide great value for my list. A good example of this is my graphic designer, Jessica Krewson over at www.designkrew.com. As a thank you, Jessica shares with her clientele, small business owners more about the opportunity to work with me to grow their revenues working smart, not hard through online marketing and managing their money better!.com

2. Official Affiliate Agreement!

You offer a great service / product that would benefit your biz colleagues list AND have presented them with an offer they can’t refuse–a money making affiliate plan. Think about it, your biz colleague get’s to add value for their list, giving something to their customers and prospects that they believe they want and need. They also get to receive a percentage of the profit just for promoting you to their list vie sending just one email, in which clients will thank them for!

3. Membership Programs

Another opportunity out there will be to connect with monthly membership clubs and continuity programs online that have your ‘ideal demographic’. Most of these programs offer a guest expert call each month, which means they have to find compelling guest experts to provide valuable knowledge to their subscriber base via teleseminars each month. They are motivated to get experts booked and, in many cases, don’t want any reciprocation.

4. Just For Asking

In your immediate circle of biz influence, all you have to do is ask. In fact, it will make some of your biz colleagues happy to help you. Why? Because they know, like, and trust you and what your business is all about. Why not let them help you? They know that you offer something valuable. They see the fit and the contribution to their own list of customers and prospects. So, they’re helping you, as well as offering this gift of introduction to their own list. What could be better – a Win-Win for all involved? One of the greatest time-tested styles of marketing offline has been through the power of word of mouth. Now, online you get to practice this ten-fold through the click of just one button to an entire list of your biz colleagues.

These 4 golden nuggets can dramatically impact adding new quality prospects and clients to your list in a very short period of time. Don’t miss out, set a target for 2009 of how much you plan to grow your list, roll up your sleeves, and get down to it!!

One of the amazing things we have been given as humans is the unquenchable desire to have dreams of a better life, and the ability to establish goals to live out those dreams. Think of it: We can look deep within our hearts and dream of a better situation for ourselves and our families; dream of better financial lives and better emotional or physical lives; certainly dream of better spiritual lives. But what makes this even more powerful is that we have also been given the ability to not only dream but to pursue those dreams and not only to pursue them, but the cognitive ability to actually lay out a plan and strategies (setting goals) to achieve those dreams. Powerful! And that is what we will discuss in detail this week: How to dream dreams and establish goals to get those dreams.

What are your dreams and goals? This isn’t what you already have or what you have done, but what you want. Have you ever really sat down and thought through your life values and decided what you really want? Have you ever taken the time to truly reflect, to listen quietly to your heart, to see what dreams live within you? Your dreams are there. Everyone has them. They may live right on the surface, or they may be buried deep from years of others telling you they were foolish, but they are there.

So how do we know what our dreams are? This is an interesting process and it relates primarily to the art of listening. This is not listening to others; it is listening to yourself. If we listen to others, we hear their plans and dreams (and many will try to put their plans and dreams on us). If we listen to others, we can never be fulfilled. We will only chase elusive dreams that are not rooted deep within us. No, we must listen to our own hearts.

Let’s take a look at some practical steps/thoughts on hearing from our hearts on what our dreams are:

cc photo credit: davi sommerfeld

Take time to be quiet. This is something that we don’t do enough in this busy world of ours. We rush, rush, rush, and we are constantly listening to noise all around us. The human heart was meant for times of quiet, to peer deep within. It is when we do this that our hearts are set free to soar and take flight on the wings of our own dreams! Schedule some quiet “dream time” this week. No other people. No cell phone. No computer. Just you, a pad, a pen, and your thoughts (you get to do this in the workbook exercises this week).

Think about what really thrills you. When you are quiet, think about those things that really get your blood moving. What would you LOVE to do, either for fun or for a living? What would you love to accomplish? What would you try if you were guaranteed to succeed? What big thoughts move your heart into a state of excitement and joy? When you answer these questions you will feel Great and you will be in the “dream zone.” It is only when we get to this point that we experience what Our dreams are!

Write down all of your dreams as you have them. Don’t think of any as too outlandish or foolish - remember, you’re dreaming! Let the thoughts fly and take careful record.

Now, prioritize those dreams. Which are most important? Which are most feasible? Which would you love to do the most? Put them in the order in which you will actually try to attain them. Remember, we are always moving toward action, not just dreaming.

Here is the big picture: Life is too short to not pursue your dreams. Someday your life will near its end and all you will be able to do is look backwards. You can reflect with joy or regret. Those who dream, who set goals and act on them to live out their dreams are those who live lives of joy and have a sense of peace when they near the end of their lives. They have finished well, for themselves and for their families.

Remember: These are the dreams and goals that are born out of your heart and mind. These are the goals that are unique to you and come from who you were created to be and gifted to become. Your specific goals are what you want to attain because they are what will make your life joyful and bring your family’s life into congruence with what you want it to be.

Until next week, let’s do something remarkable!

Yesterday June 26, I woke up a bit later than 7 in the morning. At my first consciousness, I perceived a voice of a breaking news announcer. He mentions something about Michael Jackson but I missed the core part of the news. My gut feel tells me that there must be some bad thing happened to MJ. In next few minutes, I turn on my computer, heading to CNN. It’s LIVE there on CNN.com reporting a shocking news to the world.

MJ and I are about the same age. I enjoy singing his song, and was tried to copy his sweet voice on ‘Ben’, since I was just a kid. I grew up with his increasing famous. I danced with his ‘Billy Jean…Thriller…” I teared with his “We Are The World”.

Though I didn’t follow his albums for quite several years recently, he still a remarkable talent singer whom I never forget. He is my generation’ Elvis Presley.

The Subtlety of Language

by Jim Rohn

I have found that sometimes the subtle difference in our attitude, which of course can make a major difference in our future, can be as simple as the language we use. The difference in even how you talk to yourself or others.

Consciously making a decision to quit saying what you don’t want and to start saying what you do want. I call that faith. Believing the best, hoping for the best and moving toward the best.

A few examples could be, instead of saying “What if somebody doesn’t respond” you start saying, “What if they do respond?” Instead of saying “What if someone says no?” You say, “What if they say yes?” Instead of “What if they start and quit?” say, “What if they start and stay?” or “What if it doesn’t work out?” You say, “What if it does work out?” and the list goes on and on.

I found that when you start thinking and saying what you really want then your mind automatically shifts and pulls you in that direction. And sometimes it can be that simple, just a little twist in vocabulary that illustrates your attitude and philosophy.

Our language can also affect how others perform and behave around us. A teenager says to a parent, “I need $10.” And if the parents learn to say, “No comprende. That kind of language doesn’t work here. We’ve got plenty of money, but that’s not how you get $10.” Then you teach your teenager how to ask, “How can I earn $10?”

That is the magic of words. There is plenty of money here. There is money for everybody, but you just have to learn the magic words to get them. For everything you could possibly want. If you just learn the philosophy. How could I earn $10? Because you can’t go to the soil and say, “Give me a harvest.” You know the soil smiles and says, “Who is this clown that brings me his need and brings me no seed.” And if you said to the soil, “I’ve got this seed and if I planted it, would you work while I sleep?” And the soil says, “No problem. Give me the seed. Go to sleep and I’ll be working while you’re sleeping.”

If you just understand these simple principles, teaching them to a teenager (or adult) is sometimes just a matter of language. It’s like an investment account instead of a savings account. Simple language, but so important. It is easy to stumble through almost a lifetime and not learn some of these simplicities. Then you have to put up with all the lack and all the challenges that don’t work out simply from not reading the book, not listening to the tape, not sitting in the class, not studying your language and not being willing to search so you can then find.

But here is the great news. You can start this process anytime. For me it was at age 25. At 25 I’m broke. Six years later I’m a millionaire. Somebody says, “What kind of revolution, what kind of change, what kind of thinking, what kind of magic had to happen? Was it you?” And I say, “No. Any person, any six years, 36 to 42, 50 to 56.

Whatever six years; whatever few years you go on an intensive, accelerated personal development curve, learning curve, application curve, and learning the disciplines. Now, it might not take the same amount of time, but I’m telling you the same changes and the same rewards in some different fashion are available for those who pay that six year price. And you might find that whether it’s in the beginning to help get you started, or in the middle to keep you on track, that your language can have a great impact on your attitude, actions and results.

Everyone Can Perform “Miracles”

by Napoleon Hill

A positive mental attitude is the habit of keeping the mind busily engaged in connection with the circumstances and things one desires in life, and off then things one does not desire. The majority of people go all the way through life with their mental attitudes dominated by fears and anxieties and worries over circumstances which somehow have a way of making their appearance sooner or later. And the strange part of this truth is that these people often blame other people for the misfortunes they have thus brought upon themselves by their negative mental attitudes.

The mind has a definite way of clothing one’s thoughts in appropriate physical equivalents. Think in terms of poverty and you will live in poverty. Think in terms of opulence and you will attract opulence. Through the eternal law of harmonious attraction one’s thoughts always clothe themselves in material things appropriate unto their nature.

A positive mental attitude is the habit of looking upon all unpleasant circumstances with which one meets as merely opportunities for one to test his capacity to rise above them by searching for the “seed of an equivalent benefit” and putting it to work.

A positive mental attitude is the habit of evaluating all problems, and distinguishing the difference between those one can master and those one cannot control. The person with a positive mental attitude endeavors to solve the problems he can control, and so relates himself to those he cannot control that they do not influence his mental attitude from positive to negative.

Act to Create It

by Jack Canfield

Act as if you want to live a dream life, not only must you decide what you want, turn your dream into measurable goals, break those goals down into specific action steps, and visualize and affirm your desired outcomes — you must start taking action!

I recommend making the commitment to do something every day in at least three different areas of your life that moves you in the direction of your goal.

If one of your goals is physical fitness, make a commitment to do some sort of exercise — aerobics, weight training, stretching — four to five times a week for a minimum of twenty minutes.

I read recently that if you simply go for a 30 minute walk four times a week, that would put you in the top 1% of those people getting physical exercise!

If your goal is financial independence, start saving and investing a portion of your income every month with no exceptions.

If your goal is to write a book, write for a minimum of one hour every day.

DON’T LET FEAR STOP YOU

Most people never get what they want because they let their fears stop them. They are afraid of making a mistake, looking foolish, getting ripped off, being rejected, being hurt, wasting their time, and feeling uncomfortable.

Fear is self-created by imagining catastrophic consequences that have yet to happen. It is all in your mind. In fact, you can actually scare yourself by imagining negative and harmful images. But simply stop the catastrophic thoughts and images, and the fear goes away.

REJECTION IS A MYTH

One of the biggest fears that stops people from asking for support, guidance, advice, money, a date, a job, the sale, or anything else is the fear of rejection.

In fact, it’s been known to literally paralyze people. They become tongue-tied and refuse to reach for the phone or get up and walk across the room. They break out in a sweat at the mere thought of asking for what they want.

I have come to realize that the whole concept of rejection is false — that rejection doesn’t really exist. Think about it for a moment. If you asked someone to join you for dinner, and they said no, you could tell yourself that you had been rejected. But think about it. Did you have anyone to eat dinner with before you asked them? No! Did you have anyone to eat dinner with after you asked them? No! Did your life really get worse? No. It stayed the same!

ACT AS IF

One of the secrets of success is to start acting like a success before you are one. Act as if.
If you had already achieved your dream, what kinds of clothes would you be wearing? How would you act? How would you treat others? Would you tithe a portion of your income to your church or favorite charities? Would you have more self-confidence? Would you take more time to spend with your loved ones?

I suggest that you begin to do those things now!

When I decided that I wanted to be an “international” consultant, I immediately went and applied for a passport, bought an international clock that told me what time it was anywhere in the world, printed business cards with the words “International Self-Esteem and Peak Performance Consultant,” and decided I would like to first go to Australia. I bought a poster of the Sydney Opera House and placed it on my refrigerator.

Within one month, I received an invitation to speak in Sydney and Brisbane. Since then, I have spoken and conducted trainings in over 30 countries and continue to expand my business around the globe.

Start acting as if you already have everything you want.

Most people think that if they have a lot of money, they could do the things they want to do, and they would be much happier. In fact, the reverse is true.

If you start by creating a state of happiness and abundance, then do the things you are inspired to do from that state of being, you will end up having all the things you ultimately desire.

BE, DO AND HAVE EVERYTHING YOU WANT… STARTING NOW!

Remember, the proper order of this is to start now and be who you want to BE, then DO the actions that go along with being that person, and soon you will find that you can easily HAVE everything you want in life–health, wealth and fulfilling relationships.

Jim Rohn was born to an Idaho farming family. He began his early adulthood without acclaim, leaving college after his first year, starting a family and trying to get by as best he could as a salaried worker.

In 1985, he was the recipient of the National Speakers Association CPAE Award. He is also the author of 17 different books, audio and video programs. Jim Rohn is considered a “Business Philosopher”. He does not claim to teach novel truths, only fundamentals - and as he is fond of saying: “There are no new fundamentals. Truth is not new, it’s old.

The Major Key to Your Better Future is You

by Jim Rohn

Of all the things that can have an effect on your future, I believe personal growth is the greatest. We can talk about sales growth, profit growth, asset growth, but all of this probably will not happen without personal growth. It’s really the open door to it all. In fact I’d like to have you memorize a most important phrase. Here it is, “The major key to your better future is YOU.”

Let me repeat that. “The major key to your better future is YOU.” Put that someplace you can see it every day, in the bathroom, in the kitchen, at the office, anywhere where you can see it every day. The major key to your better future is YOU. Try to remember that every day you live and think about it. The major key is YOU.

Now, there are many things that will help your better future. If you belong to a strong, dynamic, progressive company, that would help. If the company has good products, good services that you are proud of, that would certainly help. If there were good sales aids, that would help, good training would certainly help. If there is strong leadership, that will certainly help. All of these things will help, and of course, if it doesn’t storm, that will help. If your car doesn’t break down, that will help. If the kids don’t get sick, that will help. If the neighbors stay halfway civil, that will help. If your relatives don’t bug you, that will help. If it isn’t too cold, if it isn’t too hot, all those things will help your better future. And if prices don’t go much higher and if taxes don’t get much heavier, that will help. And if the economy stays stable, those things will all help. We could go on and on with the list; but remember this, the list of things that I’ve just covered and many more - all put together - play a minor role in your better future.

The major key to your better future is you. Lock your mind onto that. This is a super important point to remember. The major key is you. A friend of mine has always answered when asked, “How do you develop an above-average income?” He says, “Simple. Become an above-average person. Work on you.” My friend says, “Develop an above-average handshake.” He says, “A lot of people want to be successful, and they don’t even work on their handshake. As easy as that would be to start, they let it slide. They don’t understand.” My friend says, “Develop an above- average smile. Develop an above-average excitement. Develop an above-average dedication. Develop an above-average interest in other people.” He says, “To have more, become more.” Remember; work harder on yourself than you do on your job. For a long time in my life, I didn’t have this figured out.

Strangely enough, with two different people in the same company one may earn an extra $100 a month, and the other may earn a $1,000. What could possibly be the difference? If the products were the same, if the training was the same, if they both had the same literature, the same tools. If they both had the same teacher, the same compensation plan, if they both attended the same meetings, why would one person earn the $100 per month and the other person earn the $1000?

Remember here is the difference…the difference is personal, inside, not outside, inside.

You see the real difference is inside you. In fact, the difference IS you. Someone once said, “The magic is not in the products. The magic is not in the literature. The magic is not in the film. There isn’t a magic meeting, but the magic that makes things better is inside you, and personal growth makes this magic work for you.

The magic is in believing. The magic is in daring. The magic is in trying. The real magic is in persevering. The magic is in accepting. It’s in working. The magic is in thinking. There is magic in a handshake. There is magic in a smile. There is magic in excitement and determination. There is real magic in compassion and caring and sharing. There is unusual magic in strong feeling and you see, all that comes from inside, not outside. So, the difference is inside you. The real difference is you. You are the major key to your better future.

Gold Bar Clean ShotIn a ‘changing tide’ economy, you need to understand at a deeper level, business owners focused on delivering value digitally via the internet are truly reaping some amazing rewards. Why? They have innovated, transitioned, and positioned themselves to extend their ‘value line’ to provide even greater solutions to their clients and prospects.

So, what is a ‘value line’? Well, simply put, the amount of gifting of ‘knowledge, expertise, and solutions’ via marketing ‘tips, tools, and resources’ about your services or products that you as a business owner offer for free as a gift to your prospects and clients to help entice them in a meaningful way to convert into new clients and repeat business.

In the old economy, this is what the free ‘value line’ looked like, especially online:

Free value ==> Client Conversion + Repeat Business

In the new economy, if you understand the free ‘value line’ has now been extended; you can align your approach for unrivalled marketing and business success. Here is what the free ‘new value’ line looks like:

Free value, Free Value, Free Value, Free Value==> Client Conversion + Repeat Business

So, if you need to bring more value to your prospects and clients today to continue to grow as a business, how can you do that easily and effectively online? You know, take your knowledge and expertise (aka – the capital in your head) and provide valuable insights about the solutions your services and products provide and share those golden nuggets with your ‘ideal demographic’.

Well, here are 4 time-tested online strategies that will catapult your business income levels in just a short period of time. I too can attest, once I started implementing these proven success formulas….my business began to really boom!

Online Value-added Strategy #1) Offer a weekly or bi-weekly ezine. What is an ezine? It is an online newsletter delivered through an email service provider (esp) into the e mail box of your prospects and clients. In fact you are reading my ezine right now, titled Inisights on Business Wealth & Success. Let’s face it, you know so much, others would like to know.

Take the time to share some of your ‘knowledge & expertise’ on a consistent basis via this low-cost user friendly publishing format and you will quickly see a transformation not only to your bottom line income results, but also on your conversion rate of prospect into clients and added repeat business from your current clients.

Online Value-added Strategy #2) Add some video to your web site. Research tells us that over 60% of what is being searched for online is video and that over 200 million videos are consumed per month in the US alone. Get yourself a Flip Video (flipvideo.com) camera and create 5 – 10 videos approximately three minutes a piece whereby in each video you answer one ‘frequently asked question’ you get about your services or products.

Now be sure to share those videos with all your prospects and clients online and bamm….you have just moved your free ‘value line’ to the right again!

Online Value-added Strategy #3) Write a ‘Free Report’. List 5, 7, or 10 ‘should ask questions’ that your prospects and clients should be asking you about your services and products. Now, answer those questions and edit these pieces into a 5, 7, or 10 step ‘Free Report’. Once the free report has been written, take your word doc and turn it into an unalterable PDF digital file.

When you have new visitors to your web site, share this free report with them via automatic delivery for leaving their name and e mail address. Now you are automating building a relationship with your ‘ideal demographic’, adding extra value for your current client, and again, extending your free ‘value line’ to the right. Want to see a good example of how this has been done? Visit AndorAssetManagement.com

Online Value-added Strategy #4) Post on a Blog. Truth is, people buy from people they know, they like, and they trust. A blog offers you the opportunity to share more of you and your expertise in an ongoing format. If your visitor likes one blog post, they can scroll down to read others. The more you bring value via an ongoing blog post, the more you extend your free ‘value line’. Plus, every time you post content, the blog directories pick up your stuff and help drive traffic to you.

Further, when others comment on your postings, it becomes ‘social proof’ – thus, creating a community of people who know, like, and trust you whom are raving fans referring other people to your services and products. The other piece about a blog is that your visitors tell you what they like and what they want, so that you can set yourself up for great success and just give them what they want! Wow – what a concept, right?

These four strategies are the most relevant to extending your free ‘value line’ today online. Practice these time-tested formulas and you will be loving the results. Plus, it is fun to be building relationships 24/7 via the online world, cuz it never takes a vacation and is always working to extend your ‘free’ value line even while you sleep!

“It Takes More Than A Loud Voice To Gain Respect For Athority.”

Margaret Thatcher, once observed that being powerful is like being a lady: If you have to tell others you are, you aren’t.

Truly great leaders gain respect by the way they conduct themselves, not by the loudness of their orders. You gain respect by respecting others. Follow the Golden Rule in your treatment of others, and you will win their undying loyalty.

If you ever expect to have authority over others, you must first prove yourself worthy. You must demonstrate to them that you care about them, that as their leader you will always look out for their interest.

A good officer always makes sure the troops are provided for before be takes care of his own needs. It’s a lesson that all too often is lost in the scramble to get to the top-but one that will most certainly undercut your progress if you overlook it.
