The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has announced its initial line-up for its 2010 events, slated for April 23-25 & April 29-May 2. A limited number of discount ticket packages including tickets to each day of a particular weekend of the Festival will be offered. Ticket packages purchased for all three days of the first weekend (April 23, 24 & 25) will be $120 ($40 per day), while second weekend packages purchased for all four festival days (April 29, 30, May 1, & 2) will be $160 ($40 per day). (Tickets included in each package are day-specific.) Advance single day Jazz Fest tickets are only $45; the gate price is $60. Children’s tickets (ages 2 – 10) are still only $5 and are available at the gate only. Single day tickets to Jazz Fest are on sale by specific weekend, with each ticket valid for a single day’s attendance. Tickets are available at www.nojazzfest.com and www.ticketmaster.com, at all Ticketmaster outlets or by calling (800) 745-3000. Tickets can be purchased in person at the Jazz Fest ticket office located at the New Orleans Arena Box Office or the Louisiana Superdome Box Office (Gate A, Ground Level). All Jazz Fest tickets are subject to additional service fees and handling charges.

The dates for Coachella 2010 were just announced. The festival is set for April 16-18 at the Polo Fields in Indio, CA, and they’ve got some new options this year to keep fans happy. They’ll have RV camping, car camping, and “in and out” privileges, all in an effort to keep this plush festival something that fans want to keep coming to. Pavement and Muse will be there and plenty more will start getting confirmed in the coming weeks…

Phew. Last week’s Fall Tour finale definitely took it out of us here at LMB. Although I’ve been pretty tight on time this week, I’ve been gathering a bunch of different Phish-related links. I thought it’d be nice to cap things off with a little link round-up:

10 years ago today, Phish played a smokin’ show in Philly that served as a really nice pre-cursor to the madness that went down at the Big Cypress for the millennium NYE celebration. Check it: Phish – First Union Spectrum, Philadelphia, PA; 12-11-1999 (bittorrent via etree).

I get a kick out of reading Phish show reviews by the traditional press. In the past they were typically super negative or just way off, but this Esquire review is pretty fair, funny, and surprisingly accurate in its description of the scene at a Phish show these days.

ScottyB of YEMBlog walks us through his reading of Stubhub’s 2009 Ticketing report, which had Phish “all over it” (i.e. lots of scalping/re-selling going on with Phish tickets).

The 20th Annual High Sierra Music Festival is now set for July 1-4, 2010, and early bird tickets are now on sale.

Wow 20 years! It’s pretty cool that this festival has been going on for so long. Although I’ve never been able to make it out for this, I’ve consistently heard great things about it, including plenty of praise from LMB’s editor-in-chief, Justin. So, if you have the time and the means, go.

The second season of Elvis Costello’s ‘rock-talk show’ series “Spectacle: Elvis Costello with…” premieres Wednesday, December 9, with U2’s Bono and The Edge as special guests. I was actually lucky enough to get to attend the episode with Levon Helm, Nick Lowe, Richard Thompson, Larry Campbell, and Allen Toussaint at the Apollo here in NYC. It was a great show, albeit a very niche program in a geeky music-nerd kind of way.

Eric Clapton has announced a slew of new 2010 dates, including several powerhouse openers — Jeff Beck, Roger Daltrey, and Steve Winwood — each slated for different legs of the tour in Europe and the U.S.

I go to very few large arena shows these days, but those MSG dates with Jeff Beck are mighty tempting. Hmmm.
